Abstract

This research analyzes the public relations communication strategies implemented by the Development Administration Bureau at the North Sumatra Governor's Office during field work practices (PKL). PKL provides an opportunity for students to understand communication management between government and society. Using qualitative methods with a case study approach, this research collects data through in-depth interviews, observations and documentation studies related to communication policies. The research results show that the communication strategy used involves two-way communication, effective use of social media, and application of the principle of transparency in every communication activity. This approach helps increase public engagement and strengthen people's trust in government. It is hoped that these findings can contribute to the development of more effective public relations communication strategies in government, especially at the provincial level, in order to improve harmonious relations between government and society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran media sosial Instagram, khususnya akun @PTPN4_Palmco, dalam meningkatkan brand awareness PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional 1. Dengan lebih dari 8.500 pengikut, akun ini berfungsi sebagai platform komunikasi yang efektif untuk memperkenalkan produk dan layanan perusahaan. Melalui strategi konten yang menarik dan interaktif, PTPN IV berhasil membangun hubungan yang lebih dekat dengan audiens, meningkatkan visibilitas merek, dan menciptakan citra positif di masyarakat. Data menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Instagram tidak hanya meningkatkan kesadaran merek, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada edukasi petani kelapa sawit mengenai praktik terbaik dalam industri. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan wawasan bagi perusahaan lain tentang pentingnya pemanfaatan media sosial dalam strategi pemasaran modern.

Abstract

Air bersih merupakan kebutuhan dasar yang memengaruhi kualitas hidup masyarakat, terutama di wilayah urban seperti Kota Medan. PDAM Tirtanadi sebagai penyedia layanan air bersih menghadapi tantangan dalam menjamin distribusi yang merata dan responsif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi komunikasi PDAM Tirtanadi dalam meningkatkan efektivitas program pelayanan air bersih. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap 15 informan (manajer, staf, pelanggan, dan perwakilan komunitas), observasi partisipatif, serta analisis dokumen internal PDAM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga strategi utama: (1) komunikasi interpersonal melalui kunjungan lapangan untuk menjangkau kelompok lansia, (2) pemanfaatan media digital (aplikasi pengaduan, media sosial) untuk generasi muda, dan (3) sosialisasi langsung berbasis komunitas. Namun, implementasi strategi ini terkendala oleh keterbatasan infrastruktur internet di 40% wilayah suburban, birokrasi hierarkis yang memperlambat respons, serta partisipasi masyarakat yang belum inklusif. Temuan lain mengungkap disparitas kepuasan pelanggan antara wilayah pusat (85% resolusi keluhan) dan suburban (60%). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keberhasilan strategi komunikasi PDAM Tirtanadi memerlukan integrasi pendekatan high-touch (interpersonal) dan high-tech (digital), didukung transformasi kelembagaan holistik. Rekomendasi mencakup peningkatan alokasi anggaran untuk program sosialisasi, pelatihan SDM berbasis digital, serta kolaborasi multistakeholder untuk pemerataan infrastruktur.

Abstract

The rate of violence against women and children is still very high in Indonesia, including in Labuhan Batu. Based on the research conducted, there have been many studies on preventing acts of violence against women and children, but few have seen the benefits of Islamic communication in the implementation process. This study uses qualitative methods and descriptive phenomenological data analysis to reveal the implementation of Islamic communication in handling violence against women and children. In-depth interviews are data collection methods. The research results show that DPPPA communication in prevention and treatment service tasks uses Islamic communication with good speech, an attitude full of gentleness, adapting language and content, conveying information about the actual situation, prioritizing empathy, and building good relationships. The results of the prevention phase of UU TPKS advocacy activities, outreach on ABH prevention, improvement of the Children's Forum and Puspa communication forum, increasing the role of PATBM , special SIMFONI PPA training, case management training, protecting children from abuse, and monitoring child-friendly information in internet cafes in the Rantauprapat area. This study shows that DPPPA Labuhanbatu Regency's communication regarding implementation and prevention results has been carried out well. To stop acts of violence against women and children in Labuhanbatu Regency, they must truly implement Islamic communication, not just fulfill their duties at work.

Abstract

Social media has become an essential part of daily activities, such as reading news, conducting buying and selling transactions, and various other activities. This has encouraged companies to have social media accounts to provide the latest information to the public. PT Railink has also adopted a similar strategy by utilizing its Instagram account, @kabandararailink, as a platform for disseminating information to the public. The presence of this account facilitates public access to the latest updates uploaded by the company. In this study, the author conducted observations and interviews to analyze the role of public relations as a publicity medium through PT Railink's Instagram account. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, aiming to understand how social media impacts companies, particularly PT Railink. The findings indicate that social media significantly influences the company, fostering reciprocal interaction between the public and the company. This study also highlights how PT Railink utilizes its Instagram account as a communication medium with the public. Instagram was chosen as the primary platform because it is one of the most frequently accessed social media platforms by the public and serves as a source of essential travel information, including travel requirements and departure schedules. This makes Instagram an effective tool for providing the public with the information they need.

Abstract

This research discusses the roles, strategies, and challenges faced by the Public Relations (PR) division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of North Sumatra in supporting public communication. PR serves as a bridge between the government and the public but faces constraints due to limited human resources and budget. The use of social media and collaboration with mass media have been well implemented. However, strengthening PR teams in regional areas and optimizing digital technology are recommended to enhance the effectiveness of information dissemination and increase public awareness of religious moderation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of communication by Indonesian National Police (Polri) investigators in the implementation of Law No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes (Corruption Law), with a focus on efforts to prevent corruption. The research method used is library research with a qualitative normative legal approach, examining relevant literature and documents, such as books, journals, regulations, and articles discussing communication aspects in law enforcement and corruption prevention efforts. The data analysis technique applied is descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings of this study indicate that communication by Polri investigators plays a crucial role in various stages of investigation, including ensuring transparency, protecting the rights of suspects, and coordinating with related agencies. Effective communication can drive the achievement of corruption prevention goals through the collection of accurate evidence, strict supervision, and legal education and socialization to the public. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of enhancing the capacity of law enforcement officers and internal oversight to prevent corruption practices within the Polri institution. The results of this research are expected to see the effectiveness of communication in the eradication and prevention of corruption.

Abstract

The post-truth era is marked by the prevalence of inaccurate information and the rapid spread of disinformation through digital media. This research explores the relationship between communication ethics and policy regulations as tools to address these challenges, focusing on regulations implemented to tackle disinformation. One example of the regulations analyzed is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and Digital Media Regulations in Indonesia, which aim to limit the spread of false information while maintaining freedom of speech. The study also assesses the impact on individual privacy and freedom of expression. Furthermore, the role of stakeholders, including journalists, social media platforms, and users, in disseminating accurate and trustworthy information is analyzed. Using a qualitative approach, this study identifies the challenges in implementing these regulations and offers effective mitigation strategies. The findings suggest that collaboration between ethics, regulation, and digital literacy is key to building a healthier information ecosystem in the post-truth era. The practical implication of this research is that policymakers can design better regulations by considering digital media education, while social media platforms can implement policies that are more responsive to disinformation. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide valuable insights for policymakers, academics, and practitioners in designing more effective solutions to address disinformation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) in preventing the spread of fake news (hoaxes) during the 2024 Regional Election in North Sumatra. It also seeks to identify the obstacles and solutions faced by local governments in optimizing the role of governance communication. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using field research methods. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews. Secondary data were supported by literature sources such as books, journals, and scientific articles. Data analysis utilized a thematic approach to identify key emerging themes. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the ITE Law plays a significant role in countering the spread of hoaxes, which can influence public opinion and the reputation of regional head candidates. The informants emphasized the need for strict law enforcement, public education on digital literacy, and collaboration between the government, media, and society to minimize the impact of hoaxes. The challenges identified include a lack of trained human resources, low public digital awareness, and limited infrastructure in the regions. Proposed solutions include strengthening digital literacy, establishing special task forces to handle hoaxes, and enhancing collaboration between the government, political parties, and the public. This study recommends optimizing the implementation of the ITE Law through preventive, collaborative, and fair approaches to create a healthy democratic environment during the 2024 Regional Election.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of regulation in overcoming the exploitation of women in advertising in Indonesia. Some factors that affect the effectiveness of regulations in overcoming the exploitation of women in advertising in Indonesia include public awareness, the application of law, education, and supervision. However, the implementation of regulations to address the exploitation of women in advertising in Indonesia faces several challenges, such as difficulties in supervision, limitations in sanctions, problems in education, and difficulties in changing culture. This paper uses a literature study method by analyzing various sources such as books, articles, and related documents. The results show that appropriate and effective regulation can help to promote gender equality and women's rights. Therefore, the government and media industry players must work together to ensure these regulations can be implemented properly and effectively.
