Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of eligibility of worksheets for natural indicators of acid-base 11th grade Senior High School (SMA/MA) students in even semester. The population used in this study is a population sample consisting of six validators consisting of two content validator validators, two linguistic validator validators, and two graphic feasibility validators. Data collection instruments used were content eligibility questionnaire, linguistic feasibility questionnaire, and graphic eligibility questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is Gregory. Results Processing data in terms of content eligibility has a validity of 1 so that it has a very high level of content eligibility. For language eligibility, continued validity is obtained at 1 so that the level of language eligibility is also very high. However, the validity of the worthiness of the graphic is only 0.5 so that the level of feasibility of the graphic is still categorized as moderate. Thus, it can be concluded that LKPD of the natural indicators of acid-base for 11th grade students in even semester is feasible to be used in the learning process with very high criteria for content and linguistic aspects and moderate categories for graphic aspects.

The development model used in this research is the development model according to Borg and Gall which consists of 4 stages: Potential and Problems, Gathering Information, Product Design, and Design Validation. The development in this study refers to the product produced in the form of an assessment instrument. which is measured until the validity of the expert where the validity aspects are based on the results of the experts' assessment validation questionnaire. The aspects assessed in the product of the environmental-based practicum performance instrument assessment instrument are the feasibility of instructions, content feasibility and language feasibility. The assessment instrument in this content aspect is arranged sequentially according to the practicum procedure. Based on the results of validation by validators, the linguistic aspect obtained a score with a percentage of 93%, then the linguistic aspect is divided into several assessment criteria, including the use of language in accordance with EYD, clarity of instructions and directions and the language used is straightforward and easy to understand Based on the results of validation by validators, the linguistic aspect obtained a score with a percentage of 91%. The validity level of the chemistry practicum performance assessment instrument measured practicum performance in the form of scores 1-4. Determination of the validity of the practicum performance assessment instrument is done by calculating the score given by the validator and analyzing the validator's suggestions and input on the instrument product assessment questionnaire sheet in the form of a check list. The results concluded that the student practicum performance assessment instrument was feasible to use.

Abstract

AbstractThe use of heavy-metal mordants in fabric dyeing is prohibited due to the resulting impacts such as environmental damage and public health, therefore environmentally friendly and non-toxic mordants such as tannin mordants (biomordants) are needed. Based on phytochemical screening on fern species (Pteridophyta), it is known that they contain tannins. However, scientific evidence of determining the total tannin content of various species of ferns has so far not been found. This study aims to determine the yield and total tannin content of methanol extracts of five fern species, namely paku kawat (Lycopodium cernuum), paku resam (Gleichenia linearis), paku dayak (Blechnum orientale), paku uban (Nephrolepis biserrata), paku miding (Stenochlaena palustris). Sample extraction was carried out by maceration method using methanol solvent. Extract yield was determined by weighing method. Analysis of total tannin content was carried out by UV-Vis spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 755.8 nm using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and sodium carbonate. The results of the research obtained the yield of methanol extracts on paku kawat, paku resam, paku dayak, paku uban, and paku miding are 11.271%; 8.389%; 4.810%; 3.615%; and 0.854%, respectively. Total tannin levels in methanol extracts of paku kawat, paku resam, paku dayak, paku uban, and paku miding were 0.024% ± 0.002; 0.256% ± 0.029; 0.272% ± 0.037; 0.143% ± 0.019; and 0.022% ± 0.012, respectively. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the methanol extract of paku kawat produces the highest yield while paku dayak produce the highest total tannin content. The results indicate that differences in fern species cause differences in tannin levels.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a video tutorial for simple distillation equipment for making essential oils that is suitable for use in junior high school chemistry courses. The research is a development research using the Design Thinking approach. The Design Thinking approach includes five steps, namely: empathic, definition, idea, prototype, and test. The instruments used in this study are student response questionnaires and validity on video tutorials for simple distillation equipment for making essential oils. The results of validation and student response to the video were analyzed using a Guttman scale and obtained a percentage of validation of the feasibility of media design 100% with a very valid category, articulation and intonation 100% with a very valid category, operation 100% with a very valid category, and suitability of material with sub-CPMK 100% with a very valid category. The percentage in the response test, namely the media display indicator 96.8% with a very good category, 100% operation with a very good category, and 98.95% usefulness with a very good category. Thus it can be concluded that the results of the analysis of video tutorial development are worth testing in the learning process.

Abstract

The growth of the textile industry contributes significantly to environmental pollution from dye waste. The use of natural dyes from plants could be a solution to this problem, although they have weaknesses such as easy fading and less stable colors. Therefore, to improve color stability, a mordant is needed as a color fixative. Biomordants are mordants derived from plants that can be used as substitutes for metal mordants to bind dye to fabric fibers. Matoa leaves are one of the plants with the potential to be used as a biomordant because they contain tannin compounds. This study aims to determine the tannin content of methanol extracts of matoa leaf with various leaf age variations that can be used as a biomordant. The old and young matoa leaves were macerated with methanol for 3 days. The tannin content was determined using the Folin Ciocalteu method using a spectrophotometer Ultra Violet (UV) dual beam with positive control of tannic acid at a wavelength of 755.8 nm. The yield of methanol extract from old matoa leaves was 5.42% and from young matoa leaves was 8.58%. Phytochemical screening of methanol extract of old and young matoa leaves revealed the presence of secondary metabolite content of tannins, phenolics, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, and alkaloids. The total tannin content of methanol extract from old matoa leaves was 0.37% ± 0.03, lower than that of young matoa leaves, which was 0.44% ± 0.06. Based on this research, it can be concluded that matoa leaves contain tannins and have the potential to be used as a biomordant.
