Abstract

Background: The coexistence of hiatal hernia (HH), gastric polyp, and lupus nephritis in an adolescent patient presents a unique clinical challenge, demanding a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management. This case report aims to highlight the complexities involved in addressing these concurrent conditions and their implications for patient care. Case presentation: A 16-year-old girl with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis presented with recurrent abdominal pain. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) revealed a hiatal hernia and an esophageal polyp. The patient underwent laparoscopic gastrofundoplication for the hiatal hernia, and the polyp was subsequently removed via polypectomy. Histopathological examination confirmed a hyperplastic gastric polyp. The patient's postoperative course was complicated by electrolyte imbalances and dysphagia, which were managed successfully. Conclusion: This case underscores the importance of a thorough diagnostic workup in adolescents with SLE presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms. The concurrent presence of HH, gastric polyp, and lupus nephritis necessitates a multidisciplinary approach involving gastroenterologists, surgeons, rheumatologists, and other specialists. Careful attention to potential complications, such as electrolyte imbalances and dysphagia, is crucial for optimal patient outcomes.

Abstract

The people of Bilah Hilir District have a tradition called Asokan. Asokan is assistance in the form of basic materials or money to ease the burden on the householder. Even though this tradition has been implemented by the people of Bilah Hilir District for a long time, there are still a number of people who object to this Asokan Tradition because they are required to return the Asokan at least equivalent to the amount given. Thus this Asokan is not really a gift but rather a debt that must be paid in time. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of Asokan on the economic resilience of families in the Bilah Hilir District Community. The problem of this research can be formulated as follows: how does Asokan occur in Bilah Hilir District, what is the influence of Asokan on family economic security, and what is the law on Asokan in Bilah Hilir District according to Islamic Sharia. Primary data was obtained from interviews and distributing questionnaires. Secondary data obtained from literature studies related to research problems. The Askan tradition has an influence on the economic resilience of families in the Bilah Hilir sub-district community which has a relatively low economic level.

Abstract

The supervision of teacher attendance plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth implementation of the learning process. However, the manual attendance system used at SMP Negeri 2 Riau Silip often leads to recording errors, time inefficiency, and data manipulation. This study aims to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a teacher attendance system based on geolocation using the Feature Driven Development (FDD) method. The system was developed with the Flutter framework for the mobile application and Laravel for the backend, integrated through an API and supported by a MySQL database. The main features include GPS-based attendance validation, photo-based activity verification, attendance history, and real-time monitoring by administrators. The development process followed five stages of FDD, ensuring a structured and feature-oriented approach. System testing using black box testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) resulted in an average feasibility score of 89.73%, categorized as highly feasible. The results indicate that the implementation of the geolocation-based attendance system effectively improves efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in managing teacher attendance at SMP Negeri 2 Riau Silip.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed communication patterns among young people, particularly through social media. However, the use of the Indonesian language by junior high school students in digital spaces often neglects linguistic norms and lacks politeness. This community service project aimed to educate students of SMPIT Al-Hijrah 2 Deli Serdang on how to use Indonesian properly, accurately, and politely in digital communication. The method involved initial observation, development of a contextual learning module based on social media content, implementation of interactive training, and follow-up evaluation and mentoring. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ understanding of language norms and online communication ethics. Students became more aware in choosing appropriate diction, composing grammatically correct sentences, and maintaining polite interactions in social media posts and comments. Post-training mentoring also showed consistency in the students’ application of polite language in their digital interactions. This program demonstrates that language education integrated with digital literacy and character-building can shape ethical and productive communication behaviors among junior high school students. Such education is recommended to be continuously implemented as part of school literacy programs.

Abstract

Purpose: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the primary cause of global morbidity and mortality, predominantly attributable to modifiable risk factors such as unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, and so on. While behavioral interventions are critical, the effective implementation of prevention strategies is often hindered by resource limitations. The integration of community-based strategies with mobile health (mHealth) technologies presents a promising approach for scalable, personalized risk mitigation. This review evaluates the efficacy of community-integrated mHealth inter- ventions in reducing CVD risk factors. Methods: We searched multiple databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published over the last 10 years. Fourteen RCTs (n = 9,862 participants) met inclusion criteria, with interventions combining mHealth tools and community components. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane RoB 2.0 tool, and meta-analyses were conducted using RevMan 5.4. Results: mHealth and community have demonstrated considerable efficacy in diminishing various cardiovascular risk factors. The primary mechanisms include enhanced adherence to a healthy lifestyle, continuous monitoring, and improved access to health-related information. The results of the meta-analysis are directly proportional to the findings, which significantly reduce the risk factors for heart disease: healthy dietary patterns (p < 0.0001), physical activity (p = 0.04), BMI (p = 0.002), systolic blood pressure (p = 0.002), and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.02). However, total cholesterol and fasting blood sugar did not have significant results, namely (p=0.23) and (p=0.77). Conclusion: Community-integrated mHealth is an effective strategy for addressing CVD risk factors.

Abstract

Water quality is defined as the condition of water assessed and evaluated based on specific parameters and standardized measurement methods. Degraded water quality—such as increased turbidity—can result in reduced dissolved oxygen levels, decreased feeding activity in fish, and obstruction of fish gills by suspended sediment particles. Consequently, water quality serves as a critical factor in aquaculture monitoring, as it directly influences fish growth performance and overall pond productivity. This study aims to develop an integrated water-quality monitoring system for tilapia aquaculture ponds, utilizing a turbidity sensor to detect water clarity and an ultrasonic distance sensor (SRF-05) to measure water level. Both sensors interface with a control unit based on the ATMega328p microcontroller implemented on an Arduino Uno board. The control unit processes sensor data and regulates water conditions through a single relay module connected to two 10W water pumps. The acquired sensor data are transmitted and visualized in real time on an Android application, developed using the Java programming language, to facilitate remote monitoring. The system is expected to support tilapia farmers by providing continuous, accessible, and automated water-quality surveillance, thereby enhancing management efficiency and improving aquaculture outcomes.
