Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Metabolic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and obesity, are becoming increasingly prevalent global health problems. These conditions are commonly associated with central adiposity and low muscle mass, both of which play significant roles in the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Body composition measurement is an important method for early screening to detect the risk of metabolic diseases in the adult population. This activity was conducted in Grogol Village, West Jakarta, involving 67 participants. The results showed that most participants had very high total body fat (47 people, 70.15%), with visceral fat levels ranging from normal to high in 46 people (68.19%). Additionally, most participants had low skeletal muscle mass (57 people, 85.07%). Body composition screening proves effective in the early detection of metabolic disease risk, enabling timely lifestyle modifications that can improve quality of life and reduce morbidity and mortality rates. Routine assessments and continuous education are essential to controlling risk factors for metabolic diseases, raising public awareness, and preventing more severe complications.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period that is highly susceptible to various skin problems due to hormonal changes, environmental exposure, and suboptimal skincare habits. This community service activity aimed to assess the skin health status of adolescents through screening of skin oil, water, and hydration levels using a digital skin analyzer. The activity was conducted at SMA Tarakanita Citra Raya, involving 144 students as respondents. Skin assessments were performed on the forearm using a standardized tool, with results categorized into clinical classifications: dry, neutral, and oily for oil level; dry, neutral, and excessive for water level; and five hydration categories ranging from dry to moist. The findings indicated that the majority of respondents were 16 years old (55.6%), with females comprising a slightly higher proportion (54.2%). A total of 45.8% were classified as having dry skin based on oil levels, and 49.3% had low water content in their skin. However, hydration status was found to be optimal in 95.8% of the participants. These results suggest a physiological imbalance between sebum levels and skin moisture, underlining the need for continuous education on appropriate skincare practices. This screening activity demonstrates significant potential as a promotive and preventive intervention to support adolescent skin health within the school setting.

Abstract

Abstract: Obesity is an increasing health problem among individuals of productive age and has a significant impact on the risk of chronic diseases. Early detection of obesity is essential to prevent metabolic and cardiovascular complications, particularly in vulnerable populations such as those residing in urban areas. This community service activity was conducted through nutritional status screening using Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) measurements among 107 productive-age participants in Tanjung Duren Village, West Jakarta. In addition to screening, participants received education on obesity risk factors and prevention strategies. The screening results revealed variations in nutritional status, with 66.36% of participants categorized as obese based on BMI, and 71.03% exhibiting high WHR, indicating central obesity. Anthropometric screening has proven to be effective in the early detection of obesity risk. The educational sessions played an important role in increasing participants' awareness of the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent obesity-related complications. This activity successfully identified obesity risk within the community and enhanced knowledge on disease prevention. Routine early detection and educational programs are necessary to improve community quality of life and reduce the burden of obesity-related diseases.

Abstract

Anemia is a health condition characterized by low hemoglobin or hematocrit levels, which affects the blood's ability to carry oxygen, resulting in a decrease in quality of life. This condition is common in the productive and elderly population, and has the potential to cause physical and cognitive disorders. This Community Service Activity aims to conduct early detection of anemia in the adult population in Sunter, North Jakarta through screening of hemoglobin and hematocrit levels using the Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) method. Hemoglobin and hematocrit measurements were carried out using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) tool. The results showed that 5 men (22.73%) and 17 women (77.27%) had hemoglobin levels below normal. Increasing public awareness of adequate nutritional intake and healthy eating patterns, especially those rich in iron and vitamin B12, can prevent anemia. Early detection of anemia is very important to identify individuals at risk, so that timely intervention can be given. This is expected to reduce the prevalence of anemia and improve the quality of life of the community

Abstract

High total cholesterol is a significant risk factor for coronary heart disease, especially in the productive age population. Early detection of cholesterol levels plays an important role in reducing the risk of health complications that can occur. This community service activity was carried out using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) method which focused on health education and total cholesterol screening in 40 productive age individuals, aiming to increase awareness of the importance of cholesterol control. The education provided included information on risk factors for increased cholesterol, such as a diet high in saturated fat and lack of physical activity, as well as preventive measures that can be applied. Screening was carried out to detect individuals with high cholesterol levels so that appropriate preventive measures could be taken. The average total cholesterol level of participants was 224.55 mg/dL, with an average age distribution of 43.97 years. Counseling can increase participants' understanding of the risks of high cholesterol and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to maintain cholesterol levels. Education and screening of total cholesterol are expected to increase participants' awareness of the risks of high cholesterol and the importance of prevention through lifestyle changes. It is hoped that this activity can reduce the risk of cholesterol-related complications in the productive age group.
