Abstract

This research analyzes how communication between stakeholders is established in implementing policies for handling land issues in the former PTPN II HGU in North Sumatra. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach by tracing related Literature studies. The research results show that the media and communication carried out by the North Sumatra Provincial Government in handling land issues of the former PTPN II HGU is direct communication in the form of socialization and coordination in strategic and technical forms. The communication carried out by the North Sumatra BPN Regional Office is direct in the form of support to the North Sumatra Provincial Government. The BPN Regional Office plays a vital role because regulations related to HGU come from BPN RI. The policy public communication strategy is carried out by increasing the intensity of public policy communication, involving the public in policy-making, and conveying information through the media. Factors influencing policy include openness of information, credibility, and government authority in reducing uncertainty and risk in resolving former PTPN II HGU problems. This research provides insight into alternative policy models for the North Sumatra Provincial Government in handling land conflicts. This research helps to understand the typology of land conflicts handled by BPN RI. This also emphasizes the need to increase legal awareness among the community and overcome systematic acts of provocation that lead to conflicts over land rights in North Sumatra Province.

Abstract

This This article seeks to analyze Twitter users' criticism of the Coldplay concert, which purportedly will spark an LGBT campaign. This elucidated a range of responses from the general public , from those who felt normal to those who felt dread. The advantages and disadvantages of the Coldplay concert and the LGBT campaign raised an issue that is still in public consciousness. This article employs a qualitative methodology with a sociological perspective. This article's primary data is collected tweets from individuals, while the secondary data is derived from scientific works pertinent to the topic under discussion. The results of the discussion indicate that Twitter users are indeed dynamic. However, this issue was downplayed due to the assumption that people don't care about the LGBT campaign and only want to watch Coldplay perform. Unfortunately, this topic has begun to be discussed on a national scale, eliciting a variety of negative responses. The government must adopt a qualified initiative, which at this level is an agreement note, to prevent Coldplay from disseminating LGBT messages in Indonesia, which could cause chaos.

Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of "War Takjil" (iftar hunting) during the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H which went viral on social media. The "War Takjil" or the war over iftar food is not only an economic competition between food traders who sell various snacks and refreshing drinks to break the fast but also the phenomenon of non-Muslim communities taking part in fighting for iftar food like Muslims. This paper aims to see the extent of the impact of the "War Takjil" phenomenon by non-Muslims in Ramadan 2024, both on religious harmony, especially Muslims and non-Muslims, as well as its socio-economic impact and impact on Muslims. In addition to the impact caused, there are several messages that emerge from the phenomenon, both positive and negative. This paper uses a qualitative research methodology with an ethnographic approach. The analysis was carried out by observing and documenting certain groups (social media users, especially big cities in Java). The data was collected through capturing conversations of netizens on social media. "War Takjil" is a phenomenon when non-Muslims performs solidarity and social concern for Muslims. This reflects the values of togetherness and empathy in society.

Abstract

This study investigates the role and strategies of Muslim women politicians in utilising social media during local head elections in post-conflict regions in Indonesia. By employing a mixed-methods approach integrating both qualitative and quantitative data, this research analysed 371 comments from Twitter that were captured using the Netlytic platform, a cloud-based tool that assesses social media dynamics. The findings reveal that social media platforms significantly amplify the political voice and influence of Muslim women, providing them with a vital tool for overcoming traditional barriers in political communication. The study contributes to the broader understanding of digital communication in political campaigns, particularly highlighting how gender and cultural dynamics influence political participation in Muslim-majority regions. It also suggests strategic directions for future campaigns to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of women politicians.

Abstract

In political preferences, religion plays a vital role as a consideration for the millennial generation. This is because Indonesia still considers religion in setting policies as it does in political parties and general elections. This study analyzes the political communication system of millennial Muslim Islam on social media in the face of the 2024 presidential election (netnographic analysis). This study applies the netnographic research method through a qualitative approach to understand how the Islamic political communication system works in millennial Muslim society on social media and the geopolitics of millennial Muslims in Indonesia in the face of the 2024 presidential election. Data collection uses analytics related to election data—President in 2024. The study results show that the application of political communication among millennial Muslims on social media is in the form of support and criticism on the hashtag #pemilu2024. Social media proves that distance and time limits are not obstacles to voicing opinions, criticizing and supporting each other. Several things that can be done to map Islamic political communication systems and millennial Muslim geopolitics on social media include: (1) Analyze Islamic political trends that occur on social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, by searching for keywords related to Islamic politics and monitor how communication patterns are between Muslim millennials; (2) Understanding millennial Muslim sentiments on social media by reading and monitoring conversations on social media; and (3) understand the patterns used in communicating, taking into account the type of content they share, the frequency of social media use, as well as the most used platforms. Too much social media reach without knowing boundaries makes social media challenging to control. The strength of political competition becoming increasingly evident must be accompanied by carefulness in filtering information not to complicate the situation. As millennials amid vulnerable hostilities, they should be able to become pioneers or fortresses in avoiding the opposing currents of the impact of social media in political times. Keywords: Political Communication, Millennial Muslims, Geopolitical Mapping, Social Media, Presidential Election

Abstract

Preventing radicalism among youth is a crucial challenge in the modern era, particularly in major cities like Medan, which have a high level of religious diversity. This research is essential due to the potential conflicts that may trigger social instability. The aim of this study is to explore strategies that can be implemented to educate and equip adolescents with religious moderation literacy, considering the rising tendency of radicalism that could disrupt social stability. The methodology used is qualitative, employing a phenomenological approach, which includes in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document collection. Data were gathered from students and young people in Medan to understand their perspectives on religious moderation. The findings of the study suggest that religious moderation literacy can be fostered through several means, such as youth involvement in the creation of digital content, interfaith mentorship programs, and the establishment of interfaith youth networks. Community-based training and the utilization of social media as a tool for disseminating information also play a significant role in shaping moderate attitudes. These findings indicate that enhancing moderate religious literacy can reduce the potential for radicalization among youth, while simultaneously fostering a better climate of tolerance within society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of public communication regulation in the social system from the perspective of Luhmann's autopoiesis. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach. The data of this study is sourced from relevant literature. Data analysis is carried out by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data in this study was carried out through a credibility test. The results of this study show that in the dynamics of public communication regulation in the social system based on Luhmann's autopoiesis perspective, public communication regulation functions to maintain a balance between information disclosure, control, and system adaptability to rapid social change. Luhmann emphasized that public communication systems must continue to produce and reproduce elements that ensure their functions continue to function, such as transparency, trust, and responsiveness. Adaptive regulations allow the government to interact effectively with the public, especially in the digital era which presents challenges such as misinformation, disinformation, and rapid information flow. Cross-sector collaboration and regulatory flexibility are needed to maintain social stability and strengthen the relationship between the government and society, with information disclosure as a key pillar. However, the regulation must also include privacy protection and control over the spread of invalid information, so that public communication systems remain relevant, accountable, and able to adapt to evolving social dynamics.
