Abstract

Cultural communication through the exchange of traditional Pantun verses by Telangkai during Malay Deli weddings is an example of communication within the Malay Deli community during marriage ceremonies. Telangkai themselves are the elders (masters of ceremonies) of customs in the marriage process of the Malay Deli people. This research was conducted using a qualitative research approach with descriptive qualitative methods. According to Bogdan and Taylor, qualitative research methods include research procedures that can produce data in the form of spoken words, sentences, and photos but not in numerical form from observed people and behaviors. Based on research conducted on Telangkai members affiliated with the Association of Telangkai Custodians of Malay Customs (HITPAM), as well as in the Malay Cultural Cluster organization, and through interactions with the community involved in the Malay Deli traditional wedding process, it can be concluded that the communication performed by Telangkai is direct verbal communication.

Abstract

In political preferences, religion plays a vital role as a consideration for the millennial generation. This is because Indonesia still considers religion in setting policies as it does in political parties and general elections. This study analyzes the political communication system of millennial Muslim Islam on social media in the face of the 2024 presidential election (netnographic analysis). This study applies the netnographic research method through a qualitative approach to understand how the Islamic political communication system works in millennial Muslim society on social media and the geopolitics of millennial Muslims in Indonesia in the face of the 2024 presidential election. Data collection uses analytics related to election data”President in 2024. The study results show that the application of political communication among millennial Muslims on social media is in the form of support and criticism on the hashtag #pemilu2024. Social media proves that distance and time limits are not obstacles to voicing opinions, criticizing and supporting each other. Several things that can be done to map Islamic political communication systems and millennial Muslim geopolitics on social media include: (1) Analyze Islamic political trends that occur on social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, by searching for keywords related to Islamic politics and monitor how communication patterns are between Muslim millennials; (2) Understanding millennial Muslim sentiments on social media by reading and monitoring conversations on social media; and (3) understand the patterns used in communicating, taking into account the type of content they share, the frequency of social media use, as well as the most used platforms. Too much social media reach without knowing boundaries makes social media challenging to control. The strength of political competition becoming increasingly evident must be accompanied by carefulness in filtering information not to complicate the situation. As millennials amid vulnerable hostilities, they should be able to become pioneers or fortresses in avoiding the opposing currents of the impact of social media in political times. Keywords: Political Communication, Millennial Muslims, Geopolitical Mapping, Social Media, Presidential Election

Changes in the meaning of men which are symbolized by k-pop boy bands foster a new ideology of maleness or masculinity. This ideology opens up a new social space for placing adolescents with their male identity built on aspects constructed by k-pop boy bands. The researcher uses a qualitative approach with the aim of uncovering the data described by data sources and participants to find out about how the technological aspects of the library cooperation network and digital library information in the city of Medan, to obtain quality results from the research conducted. The results of this study resulted in the phenomenon of K-Pop boygroup fanboy masculinity which can create a stigma of masculinity that is given and even labeled for men who like K-Pop or become fanboys of K-Pop boygroups. There are already many non-K-Pop people or men who are literate and aware of the meaning of male masculinity, which does not have to be defined by having a well-built body, tanned and black skin, having a firm face and jawline that reflects a strong male figure. ..

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic Education in encouraging the courage of victims of domestic violence to speak up in the digital era. The method used is a case study with a qualitative approach through thematic and sentimental analysis of social media content, netizens' comments, and in-depth interviews with victims. The results of the study show that digital da'wah through short lectures, online studies, and religious commentary provides significant spiritual and psychological empowerment for victims to express their experiences openly. Islamic values such as justice ('adl), compassion (rahmah), and the invitation to reject tyranny are the basis for the courage of the victim to fight against the culture of silence. This research is useful to strengthen the role of contextual, empathetic, and transformative Islamic Education, as well as a foundation for the development of digital da'wah that is responsive to the social issues of the ummah.

Abstract

Intergenerational interaction is an increasingly important factor shaping the functioning and adaptability of public organizations. In bureaucratic environments, these interactions become more complex due to differences in values, authority orientations, work styles, and technological familiarity across generations. While prior research has largely focused on generational dynamics in private-sector organizations, limited empirical evidence explains how these dynamics operate within public bureaucracies in Aceh Province, where hierarchical norms and administrative cultures differ significantly. This study examines how intergenerational interaction is constructed within the Pidie District Government and how it influences organizational effectiveness and public service delivery. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, participant observations, and analysis of internal regulations across several government agencies. The findings reveal three dominant patterns: technological competency gaps that disrupt task coordination, varying interpretations of bureaucratic hierarchy that affect communication flow, and contrasting work-style orientations that shape teamwork and conflict emergence. These patterns often lead to recurring misunderstandings and reduced workflow efficiency. However, adaptive leadership, structured knowledge-sharing routines, and informal mentoring between generations were found to effectively minimize barriers. The study contributes to public administration literature by highlighting how generational identities intersect with bureaucratic norms. Practically, the results emphasize the need for targeted digital literacy initiatives, clearer internal communication guidelines, and institutionalized cross-generational mentoring to enhance organizational cohesion and improve service delivery.

Abstract

This study explores religious moderation communication in fostering interreligious harmony in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir, Riau. It focuses on three aspects: (1) community understanding of religious moderation, (2) communication practices that support interfaith harmony, and (3) supporting and inhibiting factors in promoting religious coexistence. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through field observation, interviews, and documentation involving religious leaders, community figures, local authorities, organizations, and multireligious communities. Findings reveal that religious moderation in Bagansiapiapi is deeply embedded in the local culture, with core values such as national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and acceptance of cultural diversity shaping daily interactions. Communication of religious moderation is practiced through inclusive and symbolic interactions based on Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT) and Symbolic Interactionism. Key enablers include inclusive cultural values, proactive community leadership, and empathy-driven communication. Challenges arise from the absence of permanent interfaith youth forums and limited institutional support. The novelty of this research lies in three contributions: (1) the formulation of a Cultural-Accommodative Communication Model, where symbolic convergence fosters organic interfaith engagement; (2) positioning religious moderation as a community-based collective identity rather than a top-down directive; and (3) demonstrating how religious and national symbols function as active instruments of moderation communication. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of sustainable religious harmony strategies in other multicultural settings.
