Abstract

Abstract

Higher education positions new student enrollment as a strategic activity for private universities. The effectiveness of selecting prospective students with a high potential to register and be accepted is crucial. Therefore, this study was conducted to find a data classification model that can determine the potential acceptance of new students, allowing private universities to increase the number of students admitted. This research's data originated from the 2020 new student admissions at a prominent private university in Pontianak city. The three chosen classification methods are the decision tree, random forest, and naïve-bayes. Evaluation results indicate the accuracy rate of the decision tree is 59.1%, random forest at 59.2%, and naïve-Bayes at 58.1%. Despite similar accuracy rates, the random forest method slightly outperformed the others, suggesting it may be the most reliable for predicting student enrollment. Based on these models, the estimated potential of prospective students registering at the university ranges from 72% to 78% of the total student candidates. In conclusion, although the three models have almost similar accuracy rates, all show an optimistic estimate regarding the registration potential of prospective students. Thus, universities can use one or a combination of the three models to enhance efficiency in the student admission process.

Abstract

The incidence of lung cancer in Indonesia has shown a significant increase, positioning the country as the eighth highest in Southeast Asia, with a growth rate of 10.85% over the past five years. A considerable number of lung cancer cases remain undiagnosed at earlier stages due to difficulties in detection, which contributes to the high mortality rate associated with this disease. Consequently, there is a need for a relatively efficient and straightforward technique to uncover knowledge, patterns, and interrelationships among data. The objective of this study is to develop a classification model for lung cancer using the C4.5 decision tree method and to evaluate its predictive performance. The methodology comprises several stages, including data preprocessing, exploratory data analysis (EDA), handling of missing values, identification of duplicate records, assessment of feature correlations, separation of features and target variables, partitioning of data into training and testing sets, model implementation, and performance evaluation through a confusion matrix. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves a recall of 90%, a precision of 86%, an F1-score of 88%, and an overall accuracy of 89%. These findings indicate that the C4.5 decision tree method is effective in classifying lung cancer cases and holds potential as a reliable approach in medical data analysis for early detection and diagnosis.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the relationship between social support provided by peer groups and the level of academic burnout experienced by tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Bae Kudus in the 2025/2026 academic year. The background of this study is based on the high academic pressure experienced by students and the importance of social interaction within peer groups as a supportive factor in coping with stress and preventing academic burnout. It is hoped that the results of this study can serve as a reference in designing peer-based social support intervention programs. This study is based on Sarafino's (1998) theory of social support, which divides social support into five categories: emotional, esteem, instrumental, informational, and social network. Meanwhile, the understanding of academic burnout refers to the concept developed by Maslach and Jackson, which categorizes burnout symptoms into three aspects: emotional exhaustion, cynical attitudes toward academic activities, and low self-efficacy in learning. These two theories serve as the primary framework for evaluating the role of peer groups in reducing the risk of academic burnout. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The participants in this study were randomly selected tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Bae Kudus. The data collection instruments were the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) questionnaire to measure perceptions of social support and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) to measure levels of academic burnout. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson's correlation technique with SPSS software. The results of the analysis showed a significant negative correlation between peer social support and academic burnout levels, meaning that the higher the social support received, the lower the level of burnout in academic activities.

Abstract

The halalness of animal food products, especially chicken meat, is a central issue in the food industry in Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim. Chicken meat is considered a high-risk commodity among consumer food products. This study aimed to identify and evaluate Halal Risk Points (HRPs) in producing male chicken meat in a medium-scale chicken slaughterhouse in Pasuruan Regency, Indonesia. The method used Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), by assessing three main parameters, namely Severity, Occurrence, and Detection to calculate the Risk Priority Number (RPN) of each potential risk in the halal production chain. The analysis was carried out with reference to the national halal slaughter standard of SNI 99002: 2016. A total of 17 risk factors were identified and analyzed at five main stages of production, from chicken arrival to final packaging. The results showed variations in RPN, ranging from acceptable risk categories to extreme risks. The slaughtering stage was the most critical stage, with three HRPs categorized as high extreme risk, including the slaughterer is not halal certified (RPN = 350), the cutting point is not correct (RPN = 378), and the chicken is not completely dead after slaughter (RPN = 420). These risks were directly related to violations of Sharia principles and require immediate mitigation actions. Other moderate to low risks were found in hot water soaking, offal removal, and product labeling stages. This study confirmed that the FMEA method was effective in systematically identifying halal risks in chicken slaughterhouse operations. The findings provide a strong basis for implementing risk mitigation strategies, such as standardization of procedures, labor certification, and utilization of monitoring technology to strengthen halal assurance and regulatory compliance.

Abstract

Arabica coffee from Pasuruan is one of Indonesia's flagship commodities, demonstrating strong competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. However, farmers frequently face obstacles related to market information access, which hinders their ability to identify trading partners that offer optimal profits. This study aims to examine the structure and efficiency of the Arabica coffee supply chain in Pasuruan. A random sampling technique was employed, involving 44 coffee farmers, 10 collectors, 5 wholesalers, and 1 exporter. Supply chain performance was evaluated through product and information flow analysis. Supply chain efficiency was measured using the farmer's share metric, which reached 82%. The study found that the supply chain structure consists of farmers, collectors/processors, wholesalers, and exporters. The supply chain flow includes product, information, and financial movements. Farmers obtain price information mainly from wholesalers and collectors, while wholesalers and exporters base their pricing on international coffee market benchmarks. Based on the farmer's share approach, marketing channels II, III, and IV were identified as efficient. The findings suggest that enhancing farmers' access to market information, strengthening farmer cooperatives, and improving infrastructure can further increase supply chain efficiency and strengthen farmers' bargaining positions, providing valuable input for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to develop more sustainable and inclusive coffee value chains.
