Abstract

Batik has become a cultural identity for Indonesian people. Madura Island also has cultural richness in the form of Madurese batik which is still preserved to this day, inseparable from the batik civilization of Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan Regency. This research is aim to identify the process of civilizing process of women's batik as the cultural capital of Madurese batik craftsmen in Tanjungbumi Village. This research conducted in Tanjungbumi Village in August 2023. The research method used qualitative research. Techniques through observation and interviews with purposive sampling. This research is very important and useful for stakeholders in formulating policies for developing the Madurese batik business in Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan Regency. The results of the study shows that the process of civilizing process of batik according to Norbert Elias can take place through two processes, namely psychogenesis and sociogenesis. First, psychogenesis can be understood through batik techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation by families. The philosophical meaning of batik as basic knowledge through the family is then internalized by batik makers in producing batik. The value of tenacity and patience inherent in women as part of the sociogenesis of batik making needs to be owned and produced repeatedly. Second, sociogenesis takes place as a reinforcement of the social construction that women are still synonymous with batik. Third, this civilization process will become cultural capital that can be maintained, including through the social institutions of the family, batik community and government through batik development training in Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan

Abstract

Although terrorism belongs to many ideologies and religions in the world, now, terrorism in the name of Islam has swept across many regions of the world, from East to West, and has also been widely studied. However, studies on its relationship with Arabic language are lacking or even non-existent. Therefore, this article bases its exploration on a literature review methodology with a semiotic structuralism theory approach. This research found that based on Imam Samudra's book, JI/NII terrorist circles use Arabic loanword far more than mainstream moderate Islam, especially in social issues. This shows that the more Arabic loanwords, especially in Islamic socio-political texts, the more fundamentalist they are. In Imam Samudra's book, a number of Arabic words were also found which were given new connotations of a jihadist/terrorist fundamentalist nature. In addition, Imam Samudra's understanding of many Arabic loanwords such as jihad fi sabilillah (jihad in the way of Allah) is also wrong because it is not based on the context of the text and its social context as well as a standard methodology of interpretation in Islam. His jihad understanding cannot be accounted for in Islamic science and language.

Abstract

Palm oil plants, after reaching the end of their productive life, need to be rejuvenated with proper handling to prevent old palm trunks, which have been cut down, from being infested by beetles and the growth of Ganoderma sp. fungus, which can damage productive palm oil plants in the vicinity. The old oil palm trunks contain sap and have been utilized. The residue of the oil palm trunk after sap extraction contains carbon compounds that can be used as raw material for bio-pellets, representing an added value potential.  In this study, the composition of sap-free palm trunk dregs as raw material for bio pellets and the manufacture of bio pellets using sap-free palm dregs with a combination of particle size treatment and pressing pressure of T1M1 (0.4882 kg/cm2; 10 mesh); T1M2 (0.4882 kg/cm2; 20 mesh); T1M3 (0.4882 kg/cm2; 40 mesh); T2M1 (0.9764 kg/cm2; 10 mesh); T2M2 (0.9764 kg/cm2; 20 mesh); T2M3 (0.9764 kg/cm2; 40 mesh); T3M1 (1.4647 kg/cm2; 10 mesh); T3M2 (1.4647 kg/cm2; 20 mesh); and T3M3 (1.4647 kg/cm2; 40 mesh) using a hydraulic shop press to produce bio-pellets with a length of 2.5 cm and a diameter of 1.2 cm. The research used a descriptive method by presenting data as diagrams and tables. The results showed that the nira-free palm dregs used as raw material for the best bio-pellets in the T2M1 treatment (0.9764 kg/cm2; 10 mesh) contained 25.7% hemicellulose, 47.6% cellulose, and 7.2% lignin. The pellets produced contained 6.50% moisture content, 5.01% ash content, and 4416.93 cal/g heating value.
