Abstract

: The principal is in charge of guiding the school and must possess strong visionary, managerial, and leadership qualities. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the principal's effectiveness in managing the classroom in elementary schools. The case study method of qualitative research is used in this study. The principals and teachers of the first through sixth grades of the elementary school served as the study's subjects. The study was carried out between August 2021 and April 2022. In this study, questionnaires, interviews, and observational methods were used to collect data. The Miles and Huberman analysis of the data was employed. The study's findings demonstrate how effective the principal is at leading or supervising the teacher's class. Planning, organizing, activating, directing, coordinating, and controlling have all been put into practice by the elementary school's principal.

Abstract

Abstract Curriculum is undoubtedly and inseparable part of education. The newly introduced and implemented one is called Curriculum 2013. Involving a “scientific approach”, this curriculum is expected to answer both the needs and the challenges to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.The teacher’s role is very necessary in the success of Curriculum 2013 implementation. If the teacher implements it well, the students with real good quality will be created as the objectives of Curriculum 2013. The objective of this study is to know the implementation of Curriculum 2013 by the English teachers in teaching learning planning, teaching learning process, and learning evaluation. The research used descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through questionnaire and interview. Subject of this research were five English teachers. The research shows that the English teachers in SMA N 3 Kota Jambi have implemented the teaching learning planning especially in the arrangement of lesson plan and refers to the syllabus in accordance with the Curriculum 2013 despite some obstacles that they found. The teachers have implemented teaching learning process in accordance with the Curriculum 2013 development which included in pre-activity, main activity and post activity during the teaching and learning process. In learning evaluation, the English teachers performedquite well in accordance with Curriculum 2013. Nevertheless, some teachers find obstacles in the scoring criteria.Key Words: Implementation, Curriculum 2013, English language teaching and learning, English teachers

Abstract

The purpose of the Research is to find the grammatical errors made by the students in speaking at the second grade SMA N 10 JAMBI Academic year 2017/2018. The method used in this study is qualitative. The subject I studied was second grade students of SMA N 10 Jambi. The students are 20 people. The research is taken in SMA N 10 Jambi .The researcher gives one topic to the students about daily activity and ask them to talk what their daily activity with a duration of 1-3 minutes. The minimum response indicates that there 10 students who used simple present tense. The result shows that grammar error of all pupils is 27,5%. The students make the most mistakes in the Misformation Errors that is the error in grammar or words. In order to improve the students’ ability speaking, the students have to do more practice especially about the grammar. My advice to the reader if you have an interest in writing / researching in order to further explore the research.Key Words: Grammatical Errors, Simple Present tense

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not there is significant students’ speaking ability in storytelling (variable Y) use of English comics (variable X) in teaching storytelling at the second grade students’ of SMP N 8 Batanghari Jambi. This research is use quantitative method. This research is an experimental research. The population of this research are the second grade students of SMP N 8 Batangari Jambi consist of 79 students. The sample of the research are two classes which consist of 54 students. That is class VIII A consist of 27 students as control class and VIII B consist 27 students as experiment class by simple random sampling. The instrument used to collect data is story comic test form of multiple choice. Those are pre-test which is given before the treatment and post-test which is given after the treatment. There are four treatments for the sample, especially class VIII B. After the data is collected, the researcher used t-test analysis to see the difference between pre-test and post-test. The result of t-test is 2,41 is higher than t-table 2,00 with the of freedom (df) = 52 and level significance 0,05. So, the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table, it can be concluded that the hyphothesis was accepted. Based on the finding, the reseacher concluded that use of English comic can be used to improve the students’ speaking ability by storytelling. Keywords: English Comic, Storytelling

Abstract

Learning independently can decrease for students during the Covid-19 pandemic if students experience saturation in learning so that they are lazy to do the tasks given.  This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study. The research, placed in Banjar sari Surakarta, used respondents totaling 27 upper-class students from grades 4-6 and 5 interviews with teachers. Data were collected through interviews and direct observation with respondents.  Overall, the level of saturation and independence of students is at an alarming level; this is because students often experience fatigue and boredom, so they are reluctant to do learning and learning tasks independently (such as many students complain of headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, sore eyes, difficulty sleeping, no appetite, tiredness, irritated eyes, lack of rest, and uncomfortable back sitting in front of a smartphone or laptops are too long and the shift from face-to-face to online learning habits cause learners to become bored and confused, thereby reducing their absorption).

Abstract

The teaching and learning process is still focused on educators. Students are less willing to accept learning materials and social studies. Therefore, students only have a correct understanding of the material. This research is an experimental study that uses a pre-test-post-test design with experimental and control classes. This study aims to analyze the differences in critical thinking abilities of elementary school students in the experimental class with the problem-based learning model and the control class using the guided inquiry learning model. The population in this study was fourth-grade students. The sampling technique using stratified cluster random sampling was chosen as the sampling technique. Data processing is done by analyzing Paired Sampling and Independent Sampling. The results showed (1) the t-test analysis obtained two-sided Sig of 0.00 <0.05, the hypothesis Ho was rejected, and there were differences in the effectiveness of using the PBL model and learning guidelines on student criticality. social studies thinking skills, (2) The calculation of effect size shows that the problem-based learning model (PBL) is more effective than the guided inquiry model on students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning. The critical thinking skills of students who use the problem-based learning model are much higher than the critical thinking skills of students who use the guided inquiry model. The problem-based learning (PBL) model is more effective than the guided inquiry model for social studies learning about students' critical thinking skills that can analyze and solve their problems.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengembangkan pembelajaran motif batik Ngawi berbasis audio visual sebagai media pengenalan batik Ngawi di Sekolah Dasar. Pengembangan media pembelajaran ini didasarkan pada keterbatasan media pembelajaran pada materi batik Ngawi di Sekolah Dasar Kabupaten Ngawi, materi batik hanya diajarkan secara text-book dan tidak memuat motif batik Ngawi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode Reseach and Development (RnD) dengan model penelitian yang dikembangkan oleh Borg and Gall yang dimodifikasi. Namun, dalam penelitian ini hanya dilakukan sampai uji terbatas dikarenakan terbatas waktu penelitian. Hasil validasi dari 3 validator menunjukkan produk ini masuk dalam kategori baik dengan persentase penilaian ahli media sebesar 87,82%, ahli materi sebesar 84%, dan ahli praktisi sebesar 79,2%. Hasil uji coba terbatas pada peserta didik kelas V SDN Papungan I Kabupaten Ngawi menunjukkan bahwa produk ini masuk dalam kategori baik dengan nilai 36,38.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in leadership behavior of elementary school principals in Singapore and Indonesia based on behavioral approaches. The research was conducted with a case study qualitative design. Data collection techniques were carried out by using questionnaires and literature studies. The data were then analyzed by using inductive analysis techniques. The results of this study found differences in leadership behavior between principals in Singapore and Indonesia, where principals in Singapore led to the Team Management type of leadership behavior (9.9), while school principals in Indonesia led to the Authority-Compliance Management type of leadership behavior (9, 9). 1). This study then provides a study of the impact of each type of leadership behavior on school success. It is hoped that this study can be useful for school principals to be able to apply the type of leadership behavior of Team Management (9.9) which leads to optimization of educational attainment.

Abstract

This study focuses on translation analysis of the use of bilingual teacher talk in teaching TEYL (Teaching English for Young Learners) in Sepama Cambodian classrooms. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the students as teachers in the Sepama class used 8 translation techniques based on theories from Molina and Albirr. The results of the analysis were obtained based on the processing of 35 data obtained from online learning videos. The literal translation technique was applied to 9 data or 25.71%. Amplification technique as much as 2 data or 5.71%. Variation technique 1 data (2.85%), Typical matching technique 2 data or 5.71%. While the reduction technique has 9 data (25.71%). Transposition and particulate techniques each have 3 data or 8.57%. and finally Modulation technique as much as 4 data or 11.43%. The reduction technique is widely used because the structure of BSa is simpler than BSu. While literal techniques are also often used because teachers must immediately convey BSa and BSu immediately respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is 1) to describe the form of local traditions adopted by the people of Solo, 2) to describe what characters exist in the local traditions adopted by the people of Solo, and 3) to analyze the relevance of local tradition studies to efforts to increase historical awareness for the younger generation in Solo. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods, so that in answering the formulation of the problem must be done through theoretical and empirical studies. Theoretical studies use literature studies and relevant literature, data obtained in the field, accompanied by data triangulation techniques. This qualitative research analysis process is carried out simultaneously with the data collection process. The value of local tradition wisdom plays an important function for character building in the younger generation, can bring out attitudes that uphold local values and wisdom. The value of local wisdom has the potential to make the younger generation aware of the importance of increasing historical awareness for the realization of unity and unity because they are aware of their role for the Indonesian nation.
