Abstract

Physical education, sports, and health teachers have an important role in shaping the character, physical fitness, and discipline of students at the elementary school level. Rewards can be in the form of financial or non-financial rewards given as a form of appreciation for teacher performance. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design that aims to test the effect of reward policies on the motivation and performance of physical education teachers in elementary schools in the city of Surabaya. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires directly to teachers at school or through an online platform to facilitate respondents who are in more remote locations. The results of the regression analysis showed that the reward policy had a positive and significant effect on motivation (coefficient = 0.42; p <0.05) and performance (coefficient = 0.38; p <0.05). In addition, motivation also has a positive and significant effect on performance (coefficient = 0.45; p <0.05). The coefficient of determination (r²) value of 0.61 indicates that 61% of performance variability can be explained by the reward and motivation policy variables. Conclusion, reward policy has a positive and significant effect on the motivation and performance of physical education teachers in elementary schools in Surabaya. Further research can expand the object and use different approaches to enrich the findings.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the policy of sports development in senior high school (SMAN) Surabaya and assess its contribution to improving the quality of Education. The research method uses a quantitative approach with CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product). Data collection through closed questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and direct observation of 40 respondents from various high schools in Surabaya. Data analysis using multiple linear regression test . The results showed that although the sports program has been running regularly and have a positive impact on the formation of student character, its implementation is still hampered by limited means and funds. Evaluation and monitoring have also not been systematically organized. Linear regression showed that the results of the analysis showed that the understanding of policy (③=0.40, p = 0.002), sports facilities (③=0.20, p = 0.05), and the implementation of activities (③=0.35, p = 0.01) significantly affect the quality of Education. Conclusion Sports Development Policy in SMAN Surabaya is generally positive and has a significant impact on character building and improving student discipline. Further research suggests that schools and policy makers should improve sports facilities and strengthen the allocation of special funds for sports development so that programs can run more optimally.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the quality of the Ruang GTK application on improving the motivation, performance, and competence of Physical Education teachers. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational survey method. The population is physical education teachers totaling 98 people and a sample of respondents as many as 78 people. The data in this study were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS and SEM statistical software. The results showed that the quality of the Ruang GTK application had a significant effect on improving the motivation, performance, and competence of Physical Education teachers, with the average value of each variable in the high category and low standard deviation. Multiple regression analysis showed that 62.7% of the variation in the three variables was explained by the quality of the application, with high significance (p <0.001). Individually, application quality most strongly influenced motivation (β = 0.52), followed by performance (β = 0.48) and competence (β = 0.46), all of which were statistically significant. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impact of this application, explore its integration with other platforms, and compare its effectiveness across subjects to strengthen the comprehensive and sustainable development of teacher competencies.

Identity issues are a significant challenge for adolescents. This qualitative case study study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a narrative counseling approach in addressing identity confusion in adolescents. Ten adolescents aged 15–18 years experiencing an identity crisis participated in eight individual narrative counseling sessions over two months, involving techniques such as externalization and re-authoring to reconstruct their life narratives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews before and after the intervention, participant observation during the sessions, and analysis of reflective personal journals. Data were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach, with data validity ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques, and member checking. The results showed that narrative counseling effectively helped adolescents reflect on, understand, and change their life narratives. Participants showed significant improvements in more positive self-perceptions, increased self-confidence, and improved social skills. It is concluded that narrative counseling is a valuable approach and is recommended for wider integration into counseling services to support the formation of healthy adolescent identities. Abstract

Recently, self-diagnosis or diagnosing personal conditions without expert judgment (psychologists and psychiatrists) by matching one’s condition with information obtained from the internet (YouTube, TikTok, and websites) tended to be inaccurate and harmed adolescents with symptoms, especially among college students. However, it did not rule out the possibility of self-diagnosis related to mental health also being carried out by teenage students who were attending school. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study focused 1) describes in detail the phenomenon of self-diagnosis in junior high school adolescents, 2) describe the causal factors and adverse impacts on junior high school adolescents when carrying out self-diagnosis and 3) explaining the implications and strategies for handling adolescent self-diagnosis for related parties (parents, homeroom teachers, counselors, and schools). This research also confirmed the researcher's initial suspicion that self-diagnosis could also occur among early adolescents and even 5th-grade elementary school students, not only among college students as in previous research in Indonesia. So that the phenomenon of adolescent self-diagnosis should not be underestimated, furthermore this finding needs to be followed up by related parties through synergy activities, mental health outreach with psychologists, and organizing parenting with parents.

Abstract

Cultural diversity in a global educational environment demands a counseling approach that is able to respond to the social dynamics and cultural identities of students. Multicultural counseling is an important strategy in supporting an equal, inclusive, and social justice-based learning process. This study aims to map the development of culturally responsive counseling theory and practice through bibliometric analysis. A total of 316 scientific articles indexed in the Scopus database in the period 2020–2024 were analyzed using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix R software. The results of the study indicate that multicultural counseling has shifted from a cultural awareness approach to interventions based on evaluation, social justice, and integration of local wisdom. The findings also reveal the dominance of contributions from Western countries, as well as the weak representation of the Asian and Global South regions, which indicates an inequality in knowledge production. This study provides a concrete contribution in formulating the direction of developing a cross-cultural competency-based counselor education curriculum and data-based policy advocacy, emphasizing the need for more equal global collaboration. These findings can be the basis for designing counselor training models and psychosocial service policies that are more contextual and sensitive to cultural diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of pop-up book media in supporting literacy development, particularly in enhancing speaking skills among elementary school students. Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, 15 accredited journal articles published between 2019 and 2024 were identified and analyzed. The selected studies highlight recurring challenges in literacy implementation, such as limited infrastructure, low student motivation, lack of teacher innovation, and minimal parental involvement. Findings indicate that pop-up book media significantly contribute to improving students' vocabulary, sentence structure, public speaking confidence, and storytelling abilities. Additionally, this medium supports character building, including cooperation and self-confidence, and can be adapted across various age groups and grade levels. The integration of local wisdom and cultural content also enhances students’ engagement and comprehension. Compared to other media, pop-up books offer a unique advantage through their three-dimensional and interactive features, increasing students' motivation and interest in learning. Overall, pop-up books are an effective, engaging, and flexible tool for promoting literacy and character education in elementary schools.
