Abstract

Hyrtios sponge is known to possess alkaloid compounds that may exhibit in vitro activity against Plasmodium falciparum. The aim of this study was therefore to isolate and characterise the antiplasmodial active compounds of Hyrtios sp. Sponges collected from the island of Podang-Podang, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. In addition, the LC-HRMS analysis was performed on the active fractions of methanol and ethyl acetate extract to evaluate their antiplasmodial activity. We also validated the in silico antiplasmodial activity of PfDHFR-TS with molecular docking, pharmacokinetics, drug likeness, toxicity, and molecular dynamics analysis. The molecular docking studies showed that the synthesized extremes would have high binding affinity to PfDHFR-TS, thus confirming their potential as powerful enzyme inhibitors. Moreover, the pharmacokinetic and drug-likeness calculations showed that all compounds met the requirements for sufficient resistance and bioavailability, indicating potential as therapeutic candidates. The results of the toxicity analysis indicated that the compounds had a relatively good safety profile, but some potential adverse reactions in the renal and cardiac vasculature could not be excluded. Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed that the complexes formed between the ligand and the target were stable, and the low RMSD value indicated that the active site interactions were also quite stable. These observations reinforce the notion that the extract from Hyrtios sp. not only shows remarkable antimalarial activity but also exhibits pharmacological properties of a prospective drug candidate, which encourages further work in the development of malaria combination therapy both in clinical assessment and comprehensive mechanism of action investigation.

Abstract

This study presents a systematic literature review examining the role of the classroom environment in developing beginning reading skills among primary school students. The review covers 20 national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. The articles were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria (studies that explicitly investigated the influence of classroom environment on reading skills of primary school children, were empirical in nature, and were published in peer-reviewed journals) and exclusion criteria (articles that were non-empirical, were review or opinion papers, or addressed unrelated skills or age groups). Data were gathered through structured searches in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases using keywords such as “reading,” “classroom environment,” and “early literacy.” The search strategy involved combinations of these keywords to maximize retrieval of relevant articles. The findings reveal that both physical and non-physical aspects of the classroom environment, such as seating layout, lighting, social interaction, emotional support, and teacher-student relationships, are critical in enhancing students’ reading readiness, word recognition, fluency, and comprehension. Most articles report that well-organized classrooms with adequate reading resources, supportive emotional climates, and interactive learning settings foster increased student engagement and motivation. Additionally, approaches such as peer-assisted learning, multisensory methods, and differentiated instruction, when integrated into a conducive classroom environment, further support literacy development. Several studies also demonstrate measurable improvements in student performance after environmental modifications, including increased reading scores and more substantial interest in learning. This review offers insight into how classroom conditions significantly impact literacy outcomes and provides practical recommendations for educators to design learning spaces that encourage reading skill acquisition in the early grades. The findings may guide future research and inform teaching strategies to support foundational literacy in primary education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the trend of local wisdom-based module development in elementary schools (SD) during 2015-2025 with a bibliometric approach. Using scientific databases such as Google Scholar, Crossref, and Open Alex and the Publish or Perish (PoP) application, 46 relevant documents were obtained from 2,136 documents. Bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer mapped topic relationships, theme clustering, and research trends. The focus of the study includes the integration of local wisdom values in elementary school curriculum and learning, annual publications, topics, methodology, and the origin of local wisdom. The results show the dominance of the theme of local wisdom integration nationally, while the representation of certain regions is still minimal. Key findings include improved student understanding and learning outcomes, but numeracy, literacy, and creativity are less studied. This study found gaps in local wisdom-based digital innovation, contextual exploration, and module effectiveness evaluation. It is suggested that future research focus on technology integration, local wisdom variation, and a holistic approach in developing local wisdom-based learning modules.
