Abstract

Background: Near miss reporting and patient safety culture are critical to quality improvement in intensive care units (ICUs), yet conventional reporting systems are often constrained by underreporting, delayed submission, and limited feedback. Mobile health (mHealth) applications integrated with electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO) offer a promising approach to facilitate real-time reporting and strengthen safety culture in high-risk clinical environments. Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness and user satisfaction of an ePRO-based mHealth application in improving near miss reporting and patient safety culture in ICU settings. Methods: A mixed-methods study was conducted in the ICU of a level B hospital in Karawang, Indonesia, involving 250 healthcare workers, primarily nurses. The intervention was implemented over six months using a user-centered design approach. Outcomes included near miss reporting rates, reporting timeliness, and Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) scores. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired t-tests and multiple linear regression, while user satisfaction and implementation experiences were explored using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and focus group discussions. Results: Near miss reporting increased 2.3-fold after implementation, and timely reporting within one hour rose from 21.4% to 68% (p < 0.001). Significant improvements were observed in patient safety culture domains, particularly non-punitive response to error and communication openness. User satisfaction was high, with a mean SUS score of 82.3. Technical challenges and initial staff resistance were identified as key barriers. Conclusion: The ePRO-based mHealth application significantly improved near miss reporting, enhanced patient safety culture, and demonstrated high usability in ICU settings. Despite technical and cultural challenges, the intervention aligns with the WHO Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 and underscores the importance of integrating digital innovation with safety culture initiatives in resource-limited healthcare systems

Abstract

This article examines the preventive role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in addressing the rising incidence of juvenile crime in Indonesia, such as theft, violence, and drug abuse among school-aged adolescents. Using a qualitative library research approach, the study analyses literature on adolescent psychosocial development, Islamic education, and crime prevention to map how family dynamics, school climate, peer interaction, and digital media exposure shape youths’ susceptibility to norm-violating and unlawful behaviour. It conceptualises PAI as an educational domain that integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions by linking Qur’anic and Prophetic teachings on justice, responsibility, and self-control with contemporary challenges faced by adolescents in a globalised, media-saturated environment. Particular attention is given to the pedagogical role of PAI teachers as moral exemplars, the design of contextual and project-based learning that engages legal and ethical issues, and the creation of religiously supportive school cultures in synergy with parents and religious leaders. Through this framework, the article formulates concrete strategies for embedding anti-violence and anti-crime values into PAI curricula and practices, thereby positioning Islamic education as a key component within broader, collaborative efforts to strengthen youth character and legal awareness

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the current conditions of numeracy literacy learning in elementary schools and analyze the needs for developing microlearning-based e-modules as an innovative solution to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. The study was motivated by the fact that numeracy instruction in schools remains dominated by traditional approaches, with limited integration of contextual digital media and minimal innovation in teaching practices. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, involving five elementary schools in the Moyudan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. Participants consisted of five fifth-grade teachers and 83 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings revealed that while teachers recognize the importance of strengthening numeracy literacy as a 21st-century competence, they face various challenges, including limited time, insufficient digital pedagogical training, and the unavailability of relevant learning materials. The results highlight that the microlearning approach is pedagogically relevant because it provides concise, contextual, and interactive learning experiences that enhance students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. The study concludes that developing microlearning-based e-modules has significant potential to improve the quality of numeracy literacy learning in elementary schools, supporting a more adaptive, participatory, and technology-integrated learning environment.

Abstract

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a chronic endocrine disorder characterized by insulin resistance and low-grade inflammation, marked by elevated cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Nutritional modulation may play a role in managing these inflammatory markers. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of a low-carbohydrate high-protein (RKTP) diet on IL-6 and TNF-α levels in a PCOS-insulin resistance rat model. Methods: This experimental study used a post-test only control group design involving 18 female Rattus norvegicus rats. The rats were divided into three groups: negative control (K−), positive control (K+; PCOS-insulin resistance induced by testosterone propionate), and treatment (P; PCOS-insulin resistance treated with RKTP diet composed of 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat). The intervention lasted 48 days. Serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were measured using ELISA. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The treatment group experienced a significant reduction in IL-6 levels compared to the positive control (p = 0.038) and negative control (p = 0.002). TNF-α levels also significantly decreased in the treatment group (mean = 4.17) compared to the negative control group (mean = 8.83), with a Mann-Whitney test p-value of 0.025. These findings suggest an anti-inflammatory effect of the RKTP diet in PCOS-induced insulin resistance. Conclusion: A high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet effectively reduced inflammatory cytokines in PCOS-insulin resistant rats, suggesting potential as a non-pharmacologic intervention in PCOS management. Keywords: RKTP diet; PCOS-RI; IL-6 Levels; TNF-α Levels

Abstract

This study aims to develop a flashcard-based, play-oriented learning medium to stimulate children's sensory-motor development through parental guidance at home. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology using the ADDIE development model, comprising analysis, design, development, limited implementation, and evaluation stages. The analysis stage involved interviews and observations to identify parents' needs in facilitating children's play activities at home. In contrast, the design and development stages focused on conceptualizing and producing the flashcard product. The research participants were parents of children aged 4–5 years (Class A) at PAUD Al-Hidayah, North Jakarta, who were directly involved in accompanying their children's play activities and sensory-motor stimulation at home. Product validation was conducted by content experts, media experts, and early childhood education practitioners using feasibility questionnaires, followed by three stages of product trials: individual, small-group, and large-group. The results indicate that the developed flashcard, named SISEMO, was classified as highly feasible, achieving validation scores of 95% from content experts, 98% from media experts, and 98% from practitioners, while the limited implementation stage yielded a positive response rate of 87.80%. The study focuses on the development of sensory-motor flashcards that include structured, practical play-based activity ideas for collaborative parent–child use at home, thereby bridging early childhood developmental stimulation between school and family environments. This study concludes that the SISEMO Flashcard is both practical and feasible as a supportive medium for parents' sensory-motor play activities. Future research is recommended to examine the effectiveness of this product using experimental designs with control groups and to extend its implementation across diverse social and cultural contexts to strengthen the generalizability of the findings.
