Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic crisis has brought about significant changes in the education process. To address these changes effectively, it is essential to adapt learning policies that suit the specific context of each educational institution. Therefore, this study investigated the implementation of post-pandemic learning policies in elementary schools in Yogyakarta city. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 13 participants, namely two principals, two curriculum coordinator teams, six teachers, and five students. Furthermore, data were analyzed using Milles and Huberman's data analysis approach, aided by Atlas.ti version 8 software. The results showed both similarities and differences in the adaptation of post-pandemic learning policy among the elementary schools in Yogyakarta city. Based on their respective adaptations, these schools exhibited distinct patterns of adaptation. For example, Muhammadiyah Elementary School Warungboto, as a private school, adopted a democratic pattern, guided by public opinion and cooperation, while the public institution leaned towards a hierarchical approach. It was also observed that both public and private schools tailored the learning policy implementation to suit their individual needs and contexts.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education is a crucial element in improving the quality of learning and preparing students for global competition. This study aims to examine the roles of principals and teachers in implementing digital leadership, implementing educational digitalization, and assessing students' digital literacy skills amidst technological developments at Muhammadiyah Toboali Senior High School. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation analysis with the principal, teachers, and students. The results show that the principal acts as a transformational leader who strives to direct and motivate all school members to adopt technology in the learning process. Teachers function as active facilitators in developing students' digital literacy through the use of various technology-based learning platforms and media. The implementation of educational digitalization in schools is evident through the development of a technology-integrated curriculum, the implementation of a digital school administration system, and the use of technological devices in teaching and learning activities. Students' digital skills have significantly improved, particularly in critical thinking skills, creativity, and adaptability to technological developments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the quality of health services in the intra-hospital patient transfer process at RSUD Limpung based on the theory of Zeithaml, Parasuraman, and Berry (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy). The background of the study was based on the obstacles in the delay of operation registration, limited human resources in the Central Surgical Installation, and poor communication between units in the process of intra-hospital patient transfer. The method used was descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling technique, involving the doctor in charge, emergency room nurse, head of the room, administrative officer, and family of BPJS PBI and non-PBI patients. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analysed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that patient transfer services at RSUD Limpung were considered good in the aspects of responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, but there were still obstacles in tangibles and reliability, with the novelty of this research lies in the focus of the study of the intra-hospital patient transfer process, especially BPJS patients (PBI and non-PBI), which is still rarely studied. So it is necessary to strengthen coordination between units to ensure more efficient and effective service quality

Abstract

Background: Growth failure among children under five years remains a key public health issue in Indonesia and requires appropriate measurement indicators. Conventional parameters such as stunting, wasting, or underweight might not adequately address the multidimensionality of malnutrition. Therefore, the Composite Index of Anthropometric Failure (CIAF) and the Extended Composite Index of Anthropometric Failure (E-CIAF) will provide a better, more detailed, and inclusive population-level representation of growth failure. Objectives: To determine the frequency of growth failure among Indonesian children under five based on CIAF and E-CIAF among the population and in a regionalized setting, and to identify the more sensitive indicator. Methods: Secondary data were obtained from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) 2022, which included 281,651 children (aged 0–59 months) in 34 provinces. Nutritional status was assessed using anthropometric failure classification by CIAF and E-CIAF. The difference in prevalence in different regions was ascertained by Chi-square testing, and significance was defined as a p-value<0.05. Results: E-CIAF had a higher rate of failure of Indonesian child growth than CIAF (27.0% vs 25.0%). Prevalence of non-Java-Bali kids was high as compared to the Java–Bali region (E-CIAF=28.1%, CIAF=26.9%). In the Eastern region of Indonesia, it had the high prevalence (E-CIAF) (32.0%, CIAF 30.8%). Conclusions: The finding suggested that E-CIAF is more sensitive than CIAF for assessing growth failure. The highest burden of this disease occurs outside Java Bali in Eastern Indonesia, stressing the importance of localized nutrition interventions.

Abstract

Background: Obesity in children under five years of age is an emerging public health concern in Indonesia, where birth history and family characteristics may play a significant role. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze factors associated with obesity among toddlers in Central Java, Indonesia, using data from the 2022 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a weighted sample of 21,987 toddlers (aged 0–59 months) from six cities and 29 districts in Central Java. Independent variables included toddler characteristics (sex, stunting at birth), family factors (area of residence, socioeconomic status), and maternal factors (marital status, education, employment, weight monitoring). Complex samples analysis was performed using chi-square tests for bivariate associations and multiple logistic regression for multivariate analysis, with a significance level of α=0.05. Results: Obesity prevalence was low at 1.4% (n=304). Bivariate analysis identified significant associations with stunting at birth (p-value=0.024), socioeconomic status (p-value<0.001), maternal education (p-value<0.001), and maternal employment (p-value<0.001). In the multivariate model, higher socioeconomic status (aOR=1.94, 95% CI=1.34–2.83, p-value<0.001) and maternal employment (aOR=1.42, 95% CI =1.03–1.96, p-value=0.032) were significant predictors of obesity. Stunting at birth approached significance (aOR=0.44, 95% CI=0.19–1.02, p-value=0.056). Sex, area of residence, marital status, maternal education, and weight monitoring were not significant predictors of childhood obesity. Conclusions: Higher socioeconomic status and maternal employment are key risk factors for toddler obesity in Central Java.

Abstract

Solid waste management in Galuga Village is still largely dependent on manual sorting practices, resulting in low sorting efficiency and limited community participation. This community service program aims to support source-level waste segregation through the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)–based automatic waste sorting system that can be operated independently by the community. The activity was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, emphasizing active community involvement in the design, utilization, and evaluation of the system. The implementation results indicate that the developed AI system achieved a highest validation accuracy of 93.37%, enabling faster and more consistent waste sorting compared to manual methods. Furthermore, observations and questionnaire results from the initial pilot implementation show improved community understanding and acceptance of waste segregation practices, as well as increased readiness to adopt the system in daily activities. These findings suggest that integrating AI technology with a participatory approach has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of community-based waste management and may be further developed as a sustainable technology empowerment model at the village level.

Abstract

Basic education is a crucial foundation for a child's academic journey. Amidst the dynamics of the 21st century, dominated by technological advancements and global challenges—from climate change to health crises—the ability to understand and apply scientific concepts is vital. Scientific literacy is not simply the ability to memorize formulas or the names of planets, but rather the capacity to think critically, evaluate evidence-based information, and make logical decisions in everyday life. Changes in parental preferences in choosing elementary schools in Sungai Seluang Village are important to study because they indicate a trend of increasing interest in private schools compared to public schools, in line with the national trend of decreasing public school enrollment. This study primarily aims to examine factors influencing parental decisions, including comparing views on the quality of public and private schools, identifying barriers to accessing information, and assessing the influence of school location. The method used is a qualitative approach (case study) with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, accompanied by triangulation for validity testing. The results show that the dominant factors influencing parental choices include teaching quality, facilities, access to information, perceptions of security, and school distance, and these findings are directed to support the development of more responsive local education policies.

Abstract

National character plays a vital role in the educational process as it serves as the foundation for shaping students' attitudes, values, and behaviors, which must be implemented through school activities, including Hizbul Wathan scouting. This study aims to describe the implementation of strategic management within the Hizbul Wathan (HW) scouting program to strengthen the national character of elementary school students at SD Muhammadiyah Komplek Kolombo. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, with research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the interactive model—comprising data reduction, data display, and verification of findings—utilizing triangulation techniques and ATLAS.ti software to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the management of the HW program, based on POAC functions (planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling), is executed structurally through the formulation of annual programs, the formation of activity groups, the implementation of routine training integrated into intracurricular activities, and program evaluation via activity monitoring and student progress reporting. The implementation of these strategies contributes to the development of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, leadership, and a sense of patriotism among students. Consequently, the Hizbul Wathan scouting program serves as a strategic medium for strengthening national character education in elementary schools.
