Abstract

ABSTRACT This article discusses the relationship between philosophy, philosophy of science, and scientific knowledge to provide a deeper understanding of how these three concepts interact and influence the development of scientific knowledge. Philosophy serves as the foundational thought guiding our understanding of the world and knowledge, while the philosophy of science explores the methodologies and basic principles underlying scientific knowledge. Scientific knowledge, on the other hand, provides empirical evidence that can test and confirm philosophical theories. This discussion refers to the thoughts of several renowned philosophers such as Karl Popper, Thomas Kuhn, and Paul Feyerabend, who made significant contributions to the development of scientific methods and theories. The findings of this research show that the relationship between philosophy, philosophy of science, and scientific knowledge is crucial in creating a more holistic understanding of the world and in the development of stronger and more applicable scientific theories. Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of a STEM-PjBL-based e-module (electronic module) designed to improve students' understanding of the nature of science (NoS) in the topics of the properties of objects and changes in the form of objects. The urgency of this study lies in the limited availability of interactive digital teaching materials that use real-life science concepts. The STEM-PjBL-based e-module was developed using the Plomp Model, which consists of three stages: initial investigation, design and development, and evaluation. The research results indicate that this e-module is highly valid (86.12%), highly practical (96.68% according to teachers and 95.06% according to students), and highly effective with an N-gain score of 0.72. The findings suggest that STEM-PjBL-based e-modules can significantly build learners' NoS and support innovative technology-integrated learning in primary schools. These results imply that integrating STEM-PjBL in digital modules offers a promising approach to enhance scientific understanding while enriching teaching practices with relevant, student-centred, contextualized content.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an Android-based Computer-Based Testing (CBT) system as a preventive strategy against academic dishonesty in the learning evaluation process. The background of this study stems from the high incidence of cheating during conventional digital exams, which have yet to effectively address the exploitation of technological loopholes by students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using a modified Borg & Gall development model through stages including needs analysis, product design, expert validation, limited trials, revisions, and field testing. The developed system features several security measures such as randomized questions and answers, screen locking (kiosk mode), restriction of access to other applications, and monitoring of activities during the exam. Evaluations by subject matter and media experts yielded an average feasibility score of 89%, indicating that the application is highly suitable for use. Meanwhile, trials conducted with high school students showed that the application effectively reduced opportunities for academic dishonesty and received positive user feedback. Therefore, this Android-based CBT system holds strong potential as a technological innovation for conducting fair, efficient, and credible educational evaluations.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of using the Slido platform as a gamification tool on student engagement in English language learning at the secondary school level. The research is motivated by the challenges faced in enhancing student engagement through traditional teaching methods, particularly in Indonesia, where technology integration in education remains relatively low. Gamification, which incorporates games such as rewards, points, and challenges, has significantly boosted student participation and motivation. The study uses a quantitative experimental design with two groups: an experimental group that uses Slido for interactive activities such as quizzes, polls, and Q&A sessions, and a control group that follows conventional teaching methods. Data collected from pre-tests, post-tests, and student engagement surveys indicate a substantial increase in engagement among students who used Slido, with the experimental group showing a 29.8% improvement in engagement scores compared to a 6.8% improvement in the control group. These results suggest that Slido's gamified features, by fostering real-time interaction and feedback, effectively enhance student involvement and motivation. The findings offer valuable insights for educators on integrating gamification tools like Slido to improve student participation and create a more dynamic and enjoyable learning environment.
