Abstract

Background: The stunting rate in Indonesia in 2022 was 21.6%. I was reduced when compared to the SSGI data in 2021 of 24.4%. The stunting rate appears to be decreasing from year to year, but a joint commitment is still needed to achieve the target of reducing stunting to 14% by 2024. Stunting prevention is a much more effective step than stunting treatment itself. Prevention of stunting can be done by optimizing the role of mothers in the golden phase of child development. stunting prevention in Indonesia still focuses on pregnancy and toddlers, while prevention during the preconception period is still limited.Purpose:To synthesize and critically effective steps that can be taken to prevent stunting in the preconception periodMethods:The research method employed was a literature review, conducted by using primary studies from PubMed, google scholar, and ScienceDirect with the keywords “stunting; prevention; praconception” published between 2017-2023, in English, open access, and relevant to the topicResults:A total of 397 research articles were screened for eligibility, and 15 articles met the inclusion criteria. Based on the 15reviewed articles, devide into three themes: Nutritional status during preconception, Supplementation during preconception and Lifestyle during preconceptionConclusion: This review found that there are several efforts made in preventing stunting in the preconception period. it is recommended that health workers can optimize the prevention of stunting in the preconception period.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication plays an important role in building closeness and the quality of social relationships among university students. One factor that can influence the effectiveness of such communication is the similarity of music references, because music is often used as a symbol of identity and a medium for self-expression. This study aims to determine the influence of similarity in music references on interpersonal communication closeness among students. The research uses the Similarity Attraction Theory, which explains that similarity in preferences can foster interpersonal attraction and facilitate the creation of more intimate communication. The method used is quantitative by distributing questionnaires to students as respondents. The survey data were then statistically analyzed to determine the relationship between the variables studied. The results show a significant positive influence of similarity in music references on interpersonal communication closeness. The higher the similarity of musical preferences individuals have, the easier it is for them to build interaction, closeness, and a sense of comfort in communication. Thus, similarity in music references can be one of the supporting factors in building effective interpersonal communication among university students.

Abstract

Vocational high school graduates in Indonesia face the highest unemployment rates, largely due to deficient employability skills. This study developed and validated the BIDASAN psychoeducational model a culturally responsive intervention rooted in the Minangkabau "Induak Samang-Anak Samang" philosophy to strengthen vocational students' career readiness. Following the ADDIE instructional design model, a needs analysis was conducted with 322 students in West Sumatra, followed by a quasi-experimental trial with 20 students at Vocational secondary education 1 Enam Lingkung. Data were collected using a 63-item validated employability scale and analyzed via paired and independent sample t-tests. Expert validation (85.33%) and practitioner practicality (87%) confirmed the model's high feasibility. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in employability skills (N-Gain 0.38) compared to the control group (N-Gain 0.21). The BIDASAN model effectively bridges the gap between cultural values and professional demands, offering a novel approach for school counselors to reduce graduate unemployment.

Abstract

Stress, anxiety, and depression are prevalent and co-occurring conditions among university students that significantly impair academic functioning and overall well-being. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) has theoretical and empirical support as a psychophysiological intervention targeting somatic arousal, but evidence from Indonesian university contexts examining all three outcomes simultaneously remains limited. This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest–posttest design to examine the effects of a five-day PMR intervention on stress, anxiety, and depression among psychology students at a public university in West Sumatra, Indonesia. A total of 60 participants meeting inclusion criteria of high or very high DASS-42 scores were assigned to an experimental group (n = 30) or a no-intervention control group (n = 30). Outcomes were measured using the Indonesian-adapted DASS-42. Normality was assessed using the Shapiro–Wilk test; stress and anxiety met normality assumptions and were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, while depression in the experimental group showed a severe normality violation at posttest (W = .882, p = .002) and was analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The experimental group demonstrated statistically significant reductions in stress (M: 29.63 to 22.10, d = 0.84), anxiety (M: 25.17 to 18.37, d = 0.78), and depression (M: 22.57 to 14.47, r = .54), all p < .001, reflecting large to medium-to-large effect sizes. The control group showed non-significant changes across all outcomes. However, the absence of between-group statistical comparisons, follow-up data, and feasibility metrics limits the strength of causal and practical conclusions. Future research should employ randomized controlled designs with active comparison conditions and follow-up assessments to establish the durability and specificity of PMR effects.

Abstract

Psychological symptoms, including loneliness, and tiredness of being unable to see friends, relatives, as well as co-workers, indefinitely, are one problem faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study, therefore, aims to evaluate the extent of loneliness felt during this period, particularly by students, using a descriptive quantitative method, based on the AF loneliness Scale (AFLS). The cross-sectional study was conducted between June 11 and July 29, 2020, through an online survey on Survey Monkey platform. A total of 504 Indonesians aged 12 to 27 years, from several provinces and regions in Indonesia, participated in this study. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using JASP (Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program). According to the results, there was a tendency for 49.40% and 33.47% of students to experience symptoms of loneliness in the medium and high categories, respectively. However, there are differences in the symptoms experienced by male and female students. Racial Batak students also experienced more loneliness, compared to other ethnic groups, for instance, Minang, Malay, and Chinese. In addition, students aged between 20 and 23 are more likely to feel loneliness. These findings are useful inputs for certain parties, including school counselors, to discover alternative solutions to help students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic overcome this feeling
