Abstract

Abstract

Young Muslims comprise a large population in Indonesia. This study analyzes the effect of halal awareness, halal certification, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavior controls and vaccine quality on young Muslims' intentions to use the COVID-19 vaccine. This study involved 699 random respondents from 32 provinces in Indonesia. This research model develops Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) using structural equation modeling (SEM) with partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) data processing tools. The results showed that halal awareness and certificates had a P-value of <0.05 or positively affected Muslims' attitude towards vaccines. Likewise, halal awareness, attitudes, subjective norms and vaccine quality have a P-value of <0.05 and perceived behavior control has a P-value of <0.10 or positively affects Muslims' intentions to use vaccines. However, halal certification has a P-value of >0.10 or does not affect their intention to use vaccines. Islamic values remain a consideration for young Muslims in using the COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, the government needs to include halal aspects in determining policies related to the implementation of vaccinations.

Abstract

The Mbah Soero Sawahlunto Coal Mine pit, located in the Segar Valley District of Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra, is one of Indonesia's historical heritage sites. It is the fifth recognized heritage site related to the coal mining industry in the country. The first coal mine in West Sumatra was discovered in Padang Sibusuk by Ir. C. De Groot, followed by the discovery of the coal around the Ombilin trunk by Ir. W.H. De Gereve. During the Dutch colonial period, coal was extracted using deep mining methods and a sandfilling system. This study aims to integrate the Mbah Soero Coal Mine Pit as a valuable learning resource in Social Science Education, specifically for junior high school students. The research employs the historical method with a qualitative descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. Social Science Education, particularly in historical learning, is closely connected to the presence of historical sites in Indonesia, offering an engaging and interactive way for educators to teach students about their cultural heritage. The findings of this study show that incorporating the Mbah Soero Coal Mine Pit into the educational curriculum can enhance students' understanding of Indonesia's industrial history and cultural heritage. By using this site as a resource, educators can provide a richer and more engaging learning experience. In conclusion, the integration of historical sites like the Mbah Soero Coal Mine Pit into the Social Science Education curriculum offers students a deeper connection to their history, fostering awareness and appreciation of their cultural heritage. This study can serve as a reference for future research on the use of heritage sites as educational tools.

Abstract

In the contemporary workplace, employee wellbeing has emerged as a critical factor influencing work productivity. Psychological capital (PsyCap), encompassing hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism, is posited as a key driver in enhancing both wellbeing and productivity. Despite its potential, the role of PsyCap in mediating the relationship between employee wellbeing and productivity remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate the role of psychological capital in linking employee wellbeing to work productivity, providing insights into how organizations can leverage PsyCap to foster a productive workforce. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing structured surveys distributed to 350 employees across various industries. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the mediating role of PsyCap. The findings reveal that psychological capital significantly mediates the relationship between employee wellbeing and work productivity. Employees with higher levels of PsyCap reported greater wellbeing and demonstrated enhanced productivity. Hope and resilience emerged as the most influential components of PsyCap in this context. This study underscores the importance of psychological capital as a pivotal mechanism connecting employee wellbeing to productivity. Organizations are encouraged to invest in PsyCap development programs to cultivate a resilient and optimistic workforce, ultimately driving organizational success.

Abstract

During the pandemic, the use of educational technology to transmit lessons from teachers to students is urgently required. If teachers want students to continue studying using the technology they helped create, it must be adapted to their ability levels. The objective of this study was to determine the participation of Islamic Religious Education instructors in developing online religious education tools and materials across the Covid-19 epidemic. This study is based on a review of the relevant literature. In addition to journals, books, and the internet, there are other sources of data and information. Teachers of the Islamic religion should be actively involved in creating educational technology since they are in the best position to know how Islam should be taught to students and can observe how well their students adjust to new learning environments. Keywords: Educational technology; Islamic Religious Education; Teacher’s contribution.

Abstract

Probiotics are microbes in fermented foods that have beneficial effects on health. Microbes that act as probiotics are lactic acid bacteria (LAB) that can produce metabolites such as lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins. This study aimed to obtain lactic acid bacterial isolates from tape and tempeh, and to test the potential of LAB as a probiotic candidate by activity test as an antidiarrhea and its resistance to gastric pH and bile salts. The fermentation products used as a source of LAB isolates are tempeh sumber mas merk, and yellow cassava tape, sari madu merk from Jember. The results of the first stage regarding the isolation of LAB using GYP media showed that there were 2 LAB isolates (TaJ.14 and TaJ.15) from the tape and 4 LAB isolates (TeJ.18, TeJ.22, TeJ.24, and TeJ.25) from tempeh. The results of the antidiarrheal test using the disc diffusion method (oxoid) showed that TaJ.14 and TaJ.15 isolates were able to inhibit Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Shigella dysentriae, while TeJ.18, TeJ.22, TeJ.24, TeJ.25, and Lactobacillus casei (control) was only able to inhibit B. subtilis and E. coli. The results of LAB resistance to gastric pH showed that the TeJ.25 isolate had the highest percentage of pH 3 and 2.5 resistance (51.13 and 33.03%) compared to other isolates and controls. LAB resistance test results against bile salts (oxgal) showed that the TeJ.22 isolate had the highest percentage of resistance (75.10%) compared to other isolates although was still higher in control (75.99%).
