Abstract

Abstract[English]:This paper aims to show the implications of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the online business of non-packaged ready-to-eat products, especially related to aspects of the inclusion of halal labels. Currently, most online shops, online trading groups, e-commerce platforms, and e-business models in the online business of non-packaged ready-to-eat products do not yet include a halal label, even though Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee has required it. This is of course a problem considering the halal aspect of the product is one of the important issues for Indonesian consumers, who are mostly Muslim. At the same time, there are still people who think that even without a halal label, it is not necessarily a product that is haram. Halal labels seem to not only try to guarantee substances but also cover the production process from start to finish, the use of production tools that should not mix between halal and non-halal products, as well as their storage. In a pandemic condition where the online shopping process is an important alternative that allows without direct interaction, making awareness of the halal label as an indicator of guarantee becomes important for producers to prepare. This means that business actors must really be able to provide such guarantees even without direct interaction. In order to ensure the halal aspect of a product for consumers, of course, it requires the synergy of all parties in the implementation and supervision as well as the implementation of the sanctions. In the end, the legal approach to small business actors still requires massive socialization in the perspective of education and persuasion by involving online business application owners in order to guarantee the halalness of a product that guarantees the right of consumers to obtain halal products even though accessing through online mechanisms.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of servant leadership on job performance, with employee engagement as a mediating variable, on village officials in Pituruh District, Purworejo Regency. Using a quantitative approach, data were obtained from 120 respondents through questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Square with the help of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results of the study indicate that servant leadership has a positive and significant effect on employee engagement, with a coefficient of 0.667, and that employee engagement has a very positive effect on job performance, with a coefficient of 0.816. However, the direct relationship of servant leadership to job performance is not significant, with a value of -0.121. Therefore, it is proven that employee engagement fully mediates the effect of servant leadership on job performance. The R-square value for employee engagement of 0.445 and job performance of 0.549 indicates that the model has sufficient explanatory power. These findings indicate that in the context of public organizations such as village governments, servant leadership does not directly improve performance, but rather through increased employee engagement. Therefore, developing a service-focused leadership style and strategies to increase employee engagement is important in efforts to improve the performance of village officials.

Abstract

Edible coatings are thin films that cover the surface of products to prevent the physical, chemical and/or biological damages. So far, the edible coatings still have shortcomings, especially in terms of antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The use of corn starch (CS) combined with the addition of liquid smoke (LS) and rosemary extract (RE) is believed to improve the quality of edible coatings. This work aims to evaluate the performance of edible coatings made from CS with the addition of LS and RE. Formulations were tested with LS and RE ratios F0 (0:0), F1 (6:0), F2 (4:2), F3 (3:3), F4 (2:4), and F5 (0:6). The quality of edible coatings was evaluated based on the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Both antioxidant and antimicrobial activities were analysed using the 2-2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and total plate count (TPC) methods. The data were statistically analysed using one-way ANOVA with a significance level of 0.05. Antioxidant activities (IC50) of edible coatings were obtained in the range of 59.49-194.55 ppm. Meanwhile, the antimicrobial activities were observed less than 1 x 105 cfu/g (not detected). Compared to the F0 formulation (control) without LS and RE, the F4 formulation exhibited the most favorable properties, as evidenced by its lowest IC50 value and highest total phenolic content (TPC). In conclusion, the incorporation of LS and RE effectively enhanced the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the edible coatings.
