Abstract

This research aims to assess how well Project-Based Learning (PBL) enhances the self-assurance of Indonesian junior high school students in their spoken English abilities. For Indonesian students learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), speaking continues to be a difficult skill to master, frequently hampered by nervousness, a small range of words, and a worry about being wrong. This research used PBL as a teaching strategy to solve these problems by encouraging energetic involvement, teamwork, and actual language usage. The research used a quasi-experimental setup with two separate classes: one experimental class using PBL and one control class using standard teaching techniques. Information was gathered through speaking tests before and after, observations in the classroom, and surveys filled out by students. The results showed that, in comparison to the control group, the PBL group's students showed a marked increase in their confidence, fluency, and desire to speak. Furthermore, the data collected revealed that students were more driven and interested when working on projects that simulated real-world situations, like group talks and video reports. According to the results, PBL improves students' language skills and encourages independence, cooperation, and a positive attitude toward learning. As a result, including PBL in English speaking lessons can be helpful in building students' self-esteem and ability to communicate effectively in the Indonesian EFL setting.

Abstract

This study examines the legal implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption in professional employment sectors in Indonesia and compares them with regulatory frameworks in the United States. As a developing nation operating under a civil law system, Indonesia has yet to establish comprehensive regulations capable of responding to the disruptions AI poses to labor stability and job availability. Existing labor legislation and electronic systems regulations do not sufficiently protect workers from the risks of automation or AI-driven termination of employment. In contrast, the United States, through Federal Executive Order No. 14110 (2023) and the Automated Employment Decision Tools Law (2021), has established adaptive regulatory mechanisms emphasizing independent audits, transparency in AI utilization, and the protection of civil rights and employment equity. The findings indicate that Indonesia must develop more responsive AI governance within its labor regulatory framework, including limiting the use of AI in recruitment, restricting AI-based efficiency layoffs, and implementing clear accountability standards for AI providers. These conclusions highlight the need for labor law reform to balance technological advancement with worker protection in the digital era.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of Islamic Religious Education learning media in the form of animated videos to help students memorize Surah Al-A’la. The purpose of this study is to describe the procedure for developing animation-based video learning media and to determine their validity and practicality. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the study show that the animated video media developed falls into the very valid category, as assessed by media experts (0.84) and material experts (0.92). The practicality test involving 27 grade VI students yielded a score of 85.02%. In contrast, Islamic Religious Education teachers scored 93.5%, indicating that this media is interesting, easy to use, and effective in supporting the learning process. Thus, this animated media is valid and practical for learning to memorize Surah Al-A’la in grade VI of elementary school.

Abstract

This article describes and examines issues related to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law) and its amendments, which were introduced with the aim of ensuring legal certainty for people conducting electronic transactions. The focus of this article is to examine the drafting of the ITE Law as stipulated in Law Number 12 of 2011, the application of principles in the drafting of the ITE Law, and the normative and implementative problems after the enactment of the ITE Law. The research used is normative legal research with a statute approach and conceptual approach. The legal materials in this study are divided into two categories, namely primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. The results of the study show that even though the formulation of the ITE Law is in accordance with the laws and regulations, its implementation still has many problems due to the non-implementation of several formal principles of the law and the large number of phrases with unclear boundaries.

Abstract

This study critically examines the trend of "fast-track legislation" in Indonesia, particularly focusing on the Omnibus Law on Job Creation, the IKN Law, and the 2024 Constitutional Court Law. While fast-track legislation is often used as a tool for crisis management, Indonesia’s approach raises significant concerns due to its lack of a formal procedural framework. Unlike mature democracies such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and New Zealand, which have regulated systems for expedited law-making, Indonesia’s fast-track process is largely unregulated and accelerates policy changes without proper public scrutiny. The study uncovers a troubling pattern where speed becomes a substitute for thorough deliberation, leading to a democratic deficit and allowing executive power to bypass essential checks and balances. By comparing Indonesia’s practices with those of established democracies, the research highlights that fast-track mechanisms can be effective when guided by clear legal standards, judicial review, and transparency. However, Indonesia’s current system risks undermining democratic accountability, as urgency is often used as a tool to avoid public participation and scrutiny. The article concludes by calling for the urgent codification of a transparent, participatory framework for expedited legislation within Indonesia’s existing legal structures. This framework should define criteria for urgency, ensure procedural safeguards, and prioritize public involvement, ultimately ensuring that the pursuit of speed does not come at the cost of democratic integrity.

Abstract

This study explores the role of leadership communication patterns—authoritative and participative—in shaping the academic career development of lecturers at Islamic higher education institutions in Jambi Province, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving lecturers from multiple institutions. The findings reveal that participative leadership communication fosters motivation, job satisfaction, and career progression through open dialogue, mutual respect, and collaborative decision-making. In contrast, authoritative communication tends to limit professional growth and reduce engagement. The study emphasizes that leadership style significantly influences lecturers' loyalty, innovation, and academic productivity. These findings highlight the importance of adopting inclusive communication strategies to support human resource development in Islamic universities. The study contributes to the discourse on leadership in faith-based education settings. It offers practical recommendations for institutional leaders to enhance career pathways through more responsive and participative leadership practices.

Abstract

The development of information technology requires students to possess adequate digital skills, particularly in the use of office software such as Microsoft Office. However, there are still internship students who have not optimally mastered basic applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the competence of internship students at STIE Alwashliyah Sibolga through mentoring in the use of Microsoft Office. The methods used include training sessions, hands-on practice, and evaluation of participants’ abilities before and after the activity. The results show an improvement in students’ understanding and skills in creating documents, processing simple data, and preparing presentations. This activity is expected to support students’ readiness to face an increasingly technology-based workplace.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with audiovisual media in enhancing fifth-grade students’ interest and achievement in social studies. The research was motivated by the persistent predominance of teacher-centered instruction in Indonesian primary schools, which often leads to low engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group, the study involved 44 students from two Grade 5 classes in one public primary school cluster in South Sulawesi. The experimental class received PBL supported by audiovisual media, whereas the control class was taught using conventional methods without systematic media integration. Data on learning interest were collected through a validated questionnaire, and learning achievement was measured using standardized social studies tests administered before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, and MANOVA. The findings demonstrate that students in the PBL with audiovisual media group achieved significantly higher gains in both learning interest and social studies achievement than those in the control group (p < 0.05). These results indicate that PBL supported by audiovisual media is a promising pedagogical approach for fostering more engaging and effective social studies instruction in primary education.
