Abstract

Hypertension has become a health problem in the world because it has become a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and stroke. 7.5 million deaths or around 12.8% of total deaths in the world are caused by hypertension. Currently hypertension is a big challenge in Indonesia because it is a condition that is often found. As many as 5.52% of the population in North Sumatra suffer from hypertension and 4.97% of the population in Medan City suffer from hypertension (Hesti Despita Siregar et all, 2021). Hypertension also affects many residents in Tumpatan Village. Tumpatan Village is one of the villages located in Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency which has 8 hamlets. Sempali Hamlet is one of the hamlets that has a high prevalence of hypertension, especially in the elderly. So it is something that must be prevented so that its prevalence does not increase. The prevalence rate of hypertension is also caused by the lifestyle of the people there and the burden on their minds, which can cause high blood pressure in people, especially the elderly. So it is necessary to hold community service activities. This community service activity is carried out in the form of a seminar using the lecture method by providing counseling or education as well as by distributing leaflets and filling out questionnaires by activity participants. The participants in this outreach activity were 30 elderly people from Sempali Hamlet, Tumpatan Village, Beringin District, and it was carried out on December 16 2023. It is known that the significant value is p 0.000 (p<0,05). So it can be concluded that there is an influence of providing hypertension counseling on the knowledge of participants in PKM activities, the results of which are known after giving pre-test and post-test questionnaires to participants in PKM activities. Community service activities in the form of counseling about the prevention and control of hypertension in the elderly show that there is an influence of providing counseling on the knowledge of elderly people regarding hypertension. Based on this, it is hoped that the elderly can prevent and control hypertension so that it does not cause complications from various other diseases

Abstract

The future growth and development of toddlers is greatly influenced by nutritional problems at the age of 0-59 months. To achieve optimal health, high nutritional status is required. Improper development, insufficient energy for exercise, decreased immunity, and long-term impaired brain function can all be caused by malnutrition. In this case, the Integrated Service Center Post(Posyandu) is tasked with monitoring children's nutritional health. Anthropometric data, or human body measurements, such as height and weight, are part of this monitoring procedure. Other variables include position measurements and complaints that havebeen submitted. The aim of this research is to use the Random Forest algorithm to classify the nutritional status of children in Nglegok District. This study uses a confusion matrix to evaluate random forest yields. Four scenarios, each with training and test data, are created from the data to perform testing. The test results show that dividing 90% training data and 10% testing is the optimal scenario, with accuracy of 88.6%, precision of 88.1%, recall of 88.6%, and F1-Score of 88.2%.

Abstract

Immunomodulators operate through various mechanisms, one of which involves enhancing phagocytic activity. The purple button herb (Borreria laevis Lamk.) is recognized for containing secondary metabolites that may function as immunomodulators; however, its influence on phagocytosis has not been previously assessed. Consequently, a study explored the immunomodulatory effects of distinct fractions of the purple button herb on macrophage phagocytosis in male mice. Over seven days, the mice were orally administered ethanolic extract, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fractions of the purple button herb. On the eighth day, the subjects were infected with Staphylococcus aureus. After euthanization, intraperitoneal fluid was collected to analyze macrophage phagocytosis activity. The study's results suggested that the ethanolic extract, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fractions of the purple button herb tended to enhance macrophage activity, with the n-hexane fraction achieving the highest phagocytosis rate of 84.7%. The corresponding p-value > 0.05 in the LSD test indicated no statistically significant difference when compared to the positive control. In conclusion, the n-hexane fraction of the purple button herb demonstrates potential as an immunostimulant by augmenting macrophage activity.
