Abstract

Utilization of renewable energy becomes a necessity in the future due to the fossil energy supply continues to decline. In Indonesia, the use of electricity from renewable sources is minimal. The utilization of solar energy in Indonesia is still limited to remote areas or islands. The main problem of electricity in Indonesia, especially in the city of Banda Aceh, is the frequent occurrence of power outages from the state power plant (PLN), especially during peak load time (WBP). Outside of that time, electricity supply exceeds demand. This study aims to utilize solar energy to reduce the electricity consumption of PLN during WBP. The system is designed to divert the power supply from PLN to the solar power plant (PLTS). The results of a survey of 10 A (current limit) customers are used as a reference to calculate PLTS capacity. During WBP, PLTS supplies to the load, beyond that time, PLN will supply the load. The system is designed to store maximum energy beyond the WBP period into the battery, the source of energy is mainly from the PLTS and alternatively from the PLN when the PLTS can not supply the maximum power. Based on battery energy, the system diverts the load supply from PLN when the battery energy is below the recharge limit. In the case of 10 A customers, with the energy requirement during WBP of 4.3 kWh, it requires 12 solar panels (160 Watt maximum power) arranged in parallel. Thus, the system needs three batteries with 150 Ah capacity also assembled in parallel. The implementation results prove that the PLTS can store solar energy to the battery properly, the system also successfully divert the PLTS source to the load at the time of WBP and transfer back to the PLN source when the battery energy is less than the recharge limit.

Abstract

Capital Providers (Investors and Creditors) use past information to help assess the performance and prospects of a company. This performance information is contained in the financial reports presented by the company which will then influence the capital allocation carried out by the capital provider. Thus, although investment and credit decisions reflect the expectations of investors and creditors regarding the company's future performance, these expectations are generally based at least in part on evaluations of the company's past performance. Management is very aware of the trend seen by owners and external parties, namely management performance through profit proxies, thereby encouraging the emergence of earnings management. This earnings management tendency is closely related to agency theory and information asymmetry between management and owners. Various research results show that the implementation of Good Corporate Governance is a solution for many companies to overcome agency problems so that earnings management carried out by management can be controlled well. Corporate governance is one of the key elements in increasing economic efficiency, which includes a series of relationships between company management, board of directors, shareholders and other stakeholders. Corporate governance also provides a structure that facilitates determining the targets of a company, and as a means of determining performance monitoring techniques.

Abstract

This research investigates psychological factors including underconfidence bias, analytical/intuitive decision-making approach, self/significant other orientation, and time orientation that influence people's financial planning in short and long-term perspectives under the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The data were collected from the online survey by using a convenience sampling technique. A total of 331 valid responses were scaled on 7 Likert-type questions. Multiple regression analyses were performed in analyzing the hypotheses. This study provides empirical insight into the relationship between psychological factors and financial planning in the short and long-term perspectives. The results indicate both financial planning in short and long-term perspectives is positively associated with analytical decision-making style, time orientation, self, and other orientation. Underconfidence bias is negatively associated only with long-term financial planning but, in contrast, is not supported by evidence to a short-term perspective. Finally, intuitive-decision making is not correlated with financial planning in short-term perspective. This study helps individuals to design better personal financial planning and financial institution to develop more relevant financial services for targeted clients. This study uses consumer behavior's perspective and figures out the gap in consumer behavior literature, especially investigating the underconfidence bias effect on Indonesian's financial planning.

Abstract

The accuracy of the golden apple snail pest distribution model estimation is very much needed by farmers in dealing with pest attacks, especially in the rainy season. This research aimed to obtain the best distribution model of golden apple snail pests with kernel estimators and spline smoothing through the Goldenshluger-Lepski adaptive bandwidth selection method with an estimation error rate below 10%. The parameters measured were population density 7-42 days after planting, Morisita index, and environmental correlation. The results showed that the population density of golden apple snail pests from four research locations differed significantly in both the juvenile phase (PrF = 0.00161), pre-adult (PrF = 0.000872), and adult (PrF = 0.019122). The highest density was found in Bandar Kedungmulyo District (9.23 individuals.m-2), while the lowest was found in Megaluh District (6.37 individuals.m-2). The population pattern is evenly distributed with a Morisita index of less than one and the highest index (Id = 0.469) was recorded in Megaluh District. The best population distribution model was obtained using the optimum h(7) kernel smoothing estimator, with the lowest Mean Square Error (0.001), and Mean Absolute Square Error (0.032) values in Megaluh District. Furthermore, the best distribution model was obtained using the natural cubic spline smoother with the lowest Mean Square Error (0.055), and Mean Absolute Square Error (0.020) values in Tembeleng District. In conclusion, the best golden apple snail pest distribution model was obtained using the adaptive kernel smoothing estimator of the Goldenshluger-Lepsky model approach, which produced the lowest estimation error rate compared to the spline smoother. This research contributes to developing the best distribution model for golden snail pests, which can strengthen the information technology database for monitoring, controlling, and utilizing the potential of golden snail pests.
