Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has reshaped the governance, learning ecology, and performance expectations within contemporary educational institutions. This study investigates the strategic leadership exercised by school principals in orchestrating digital transformation as a pathway for improving educational quality. Adopting a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, systematic observations, and document analysis to construct a comprehensive understanding of leadership practices in a digitally evolving school environment. The findings indicate that the principal articulates a coherent and future-oriented digital vision (score 85) that effectively aligns institutional goals with technological innovation. Change management strategies (score 78) have facilitated gradual yet meaningful pedagogical shifts, although disparities in teachers’ digital readiness persist. The utilization of a Learning Management System (LMS) represents the most robust dimension of implementation (score 88), enhancing instructional efficiency, data transparency, and supervisory oversight. The school’s emerging culture of innovation (score 80) further reinforces digital integration, albeit with uneven participation across teaching staff. Teachers’ digital competence (score 72), however, remains a critical developmental area requiring sustained professional learning opportunities. Overall, the study underscores that strategic leadership is a pivotal determinant of successful digital transformation, highlighting the necessity for visionary direction, evidence-informed decision-making, and continuous capacity building in advancing educational quality in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of an educational institution's brand image on student enrollment decisions. A strong brand image can enhance institutional appeal and reduce prospective students' sensitivity to factors such as cost and location. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach to identify key factors shaping brand image and how they influence student and parent choices. The analysis reveals that a positive brand image is influenced by academic quality, faculty reputation, facilities, and digital marketing strategies. Additionally, the impact of brand image varies across educational levels, where parents play a more dominant role in decision-making for elementary and middle schools, whereas prospective university students prioritize accreditation and alumni networks. This study provides insights for educational institutions to develop more effective and sustainable branding strategies. Further research is needed to understand how evolving trends and educational policies may impact brand image in the long term.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas bagaimana sikap anak muda digambarkan secara positif dan negatif di media sosial khususnya pada platform Twitter dalam dua tahun terakhir (2023–2025). Data diambil dari cuitan-cuitan publik yang menggunakan tagar #anakmuda dan #generasiZ. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) dengan model Teun A. Van Dijk, dengan fokus pada struktur teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial. Hasil analisis yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa anak muda generasi Z sering digambarkan memiliki dua sifat atau dua wajah. Di satu sisi, mereka dianggap kreatif, adaptif, dan produktif. Namun, di sisi lain, muncul beberapa wacana negatif yang menilai anak muda khususnya generasi Z sebagai generasi yang manja, cepat menyerah, dan sulit menghadapi tekanan sosial. Wacana semacam ini menunjukkan adanya perbandingan ideologi antara generasi tua dan generasi muda. Twitter menjadi wadah terbuka di mana perbedaan pandangan sosial itu saling terjadi dan diundang. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran kritis para pembaca terhadap cara penggunaan bahasa membentuk bagaimana pandangan sosial tentang generasi muda.

Abstract

Purpose – This study explores how principals’ strategic leadership practices foster an innovation culture in vocational education and contribute to school competitiveness, using SMK 14 Samarinda as a case study. Previous studies have discussed strategic leadership and school innovation separately, yet limited research explains how leadership visions are translated into operational practices within vocational school contexts.Methods – This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with the school principal, supported by document analysis. Thematic analysis following the Miles and Huberman interactive model was applied, involving data reduction, coding, categorization, and conclusion drawing. Credibility was strengthened through source triangulation and member checking. Findings – The findings indicate that strategic leadership at SMK 14 Samarinda promotes an innovation culture through consistent vision communication, data-driven decision-making, collaborative teacher engagement, implementation of project-based learning, and continuous academic supervision. These leadership practices function as micro-mechanisms linking strategic policies with innovative classroom practices, contributing to improved learning quality and strengthening the school’s competitiveness in vocational education. Research Implications – This study provides practical implications for vocational school leaders in implementing data-driven, adaptive, and collaborative strategic leadership to foster sustainable innovation cultures. As this study focuses on a single case school and a limited set of informants, the findings are context-specific and cannot be broadly generalized. Future research should involve comparative multi-school designs and multi-informant data sources to strengthen external validity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze critical discourse in online media coverage of the Molotov cocktail incident in Samarinda using the approach of Norman Fairclough and Teun A. van Dijk. The data consists of three online news articles analyzed from the perspective of text, discursive practices, and social practices. The results show that all three articles tend to present narratives that support the police as the sole source and frame the perpetrators as a threat to public security. The demonstrations are reduced to potential anarchy, and the perpetrators are denied any opportunity to defend themselves. The analysis shows that the media plays a role as a reproducer of state power in constructing public opinion.

Abstract

This research analyses character education management in increasing students' spiritual and spiritual intelligence. The method used is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive design with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Next, data analysis was carried out using a descriptive qualitative study. The research results show that: 1. character education management at SMPN 1 Mojowarno Jombang starts from the planning process, including character education, which is made at the beginning of the school year meeting and involves all stakeholders. The organizing process prepares an organizational structure with its objectives, resources and environment. The implementation process is an action or implementation of a plan crafted carefully and in detail. Implementation is usually carried out after the plan is considered ready. The evaluation process determines the value of everything in the world of education, namely everything related to or occurs in the field of education. 2. Students' spiritual intelligence is awareness of practising the teachings of the Islamic religion, proven by the fact that when it is time for prayer, they immediately do it, as well as discipline, especially in carrying out religious teachings. Manners. Compassion for others, Having empathy and concern for others, Respecting and respecting others. Character education management starts with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating.

Abstract

Kinerja guru merupakan faktor penting dalam peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah. Kepala sekolah melalui kepemimpinannya punya potensi untuk meningkatkan kepuasan dan kinerja guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh: 1) Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kepuasan kerja guru, 2) Pengaruh kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kinerja guru, 3) Pengaruh kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja guru, dan 4) Pengaruh kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kinerja guru melalui kepuasan kerja. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif jenis kausal. Variabel penelitian terdiri dari kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak sebagai variabel independen, kinerja guru sebagai variabel dependen, dan kepuasan kerja sebagai variabel intervening. Populasi adalah semua guru Sekolah Dasar Negeri Samarinda yang dipimpin kepala sekolah dari guru penggerak. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 118 orang guru. Analisis data menggunakan analisis jalur dengan aplikasi SPSS. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa 1) Terdapat pengaruh positif kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kepuasan kerja guru, 2) Terdapat pengaruh positif kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kinerja guru, 3) Terdapat pengaruh positif kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja guru, dan 4) Terdapat pengaruh tidak langsung kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak terhadap kinerja guru melalui kepuasan kerja. Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah penggerak mempunyai peran strategis dalam meningkatkan kepuasan kerja guru, dan berdampak pada peningkatan kinerja guru. Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan kepala sekolah sebagai acuan untuk meningkatkan kinerja guru dengan cara memperhatikan faktor-faktor yang dapat meningkatkan kepuasan kerja, karena kepuasan kerja mampu menguatkan pengaruh kepemimpinan kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan kinerja guru.

Abstract

This research examines the application of conflict management based on Islamic values in Kalimasada Islamic Boarding School, Jombang. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, the research was conducted for six months (January-June 2024) through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results showed that conflict management in this pesantren is based on Islamic principles such as justice, peace, and dialog. The mediation system involving senior santri as mediators proved to be effective in resolving conflicts. The active involvement of pesantren administrators in monitoring and managing conflicts creates an environment conducive to conflict resolution. This study also reveals that effective communication and the application of Islamic values in conflict management not only help resolve conflicts but also support the creation of a more harmonious and inclusive educational environment. The findings make a significant contribution to the development of Islamic values-based conflict management approaches in Islamic educational institutions. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for the development of conflict management systems in other Islamic educational institutions

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis akselerasi penerapan Badan Layanan Umum Daerah (BLUD) berbasis Teaching Factory (TEFA) di SMKN 1 Kongbeng sebagai strategi menjawab disparitas anggaran daerah. Fokus kajian meliputi kondisi faktual implementasi TEFA sebagai penguatan pembelajaran berbasis praktik sekaligus unit produksi/jasa, tingkat kesiapan kelembagaan BLUD ditinjau dari aspek tata kelola, Rencana Bisnis dan Anggaran (RBA), administrasi, serta akuntabilitas dan transparansi pengelolaan keuangan. Penelitian ini juga menelaah dinamika aktor dan mekanisme pengelolaan sumber daya (keuangan, sarana-prasarana, sumber daya manusia, dan kemitraan Dunia Usaha dan Dunia Industri), serta mengidentifikasi faktor strategis internal-eksternal melalui analisis SWOT yang diturunkan ke matriks TOWS. Selanjutnya, GAP analysis digunakan untuk memetakan kesenjangan antara kondisi eksisting dan kondisi target serta merumuskan prioritas langkah akselerasi. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi kasus tunggal, melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif-moderat, dan studi dokumentasi, serta analisis data model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña. Temuan menunjukkan TEFA telah berjalan sebagai learning ecosystem dan revenue generating unit, namun memerlukan penguatan tata kelola, digitalisasi administrasi, serta penyusunan RBA berbasis performance-based budgeting untuk memastikan fleksibilitas BLUD selaras dengan prinsip good governance dan akuntabilitas publik.

Abstract

This study analyses the link between education funding and student achievement at State Madrasahs and State Schools in Samarinda City. It also examines the roles of teacher quality, school facilities, and student development programs. Using a quantitative comparative correlation method, the study sampled 241 eleventh-grade students: 129 from State Madrasahs and 112 from State Schools, chosen through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection included a Likert scale questionnaire, academic records, and interviews with teachers and the treasurer. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression, and the Independent Samples T-Test were used for analysis. Findings showed high to very high levels for education funding, teacher quality, school facilities, and development programs. Pearson's test revealed a strong positive relationship between funding and achievement: r = 0.65 for State Madrasahs and r = 0.68 for State Schools (p < 0.05). The four variables together explained 67% of the variation in achievement. The t-test confirmed significant institutional differences. Public schools used funds more for facilities, while public madrasas focused on teacher competency and religious guidance. Education funding has a significant impact on academic achievement, with effectiveness shaped by each institution's management and characteristics.
