Abstract

Kesehatan telinga adalah kondisi yang memengaruhi kualitas hidup seseorang, terutama pada kelompok wanita usia lanjut yang rentan terhadap gangguan pendengaran. Edukasi kesehatan telinga sangat penting untuk meningkatkan pemahaman terkait faktor risiko, tanda awal gangguan, dan langkah preventif yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan pendekatan Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), meliputi penyuluhan, pemeriksaan pendengaran berkala, dan panduan praktis untuk menjaga kesehatan telinga. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta terkait perawatan telinga, pentingnya deteksi dini, dan cara menjaga kebersihan telinga yang benar. Edukasi mengenai faktor risiko yang dapat menurunkan fungsi pendengaran disampaikan kepada para wanita usia lanjut seperti paparan suara keras dan infeksi berulang agar mereka dapat menerapkan langkah-langkah preventif. Edukasi yang diberikan memungkinkan peserta untuk lebih waspada terhadap kesehatan pendengaran mereka, sehingga mengurangi risiko penurunan fungsi pendengaran. Edukasi kesehatan telinga berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan kemampuan wanita usia lanjut untuk menjaga kesehatan pendengaran, yang berpotensi meningkatkan kualitas hidup mereka.

Abstract

Background: Public health is the study of disease prevention to enhance individuals' quality of life. Since the 14th century, public health research has grown in Indonesia. Aim: This research aimed to discuss issues on the health sector, with the primary area of debate being law. Method: This research employs a systematic review of the literature, which belongs to qualitative approach, that is organized by subject and then thoroughly assessed. Findings: Public health services are designed to help people improve their health and reduce the risks of exercising their right to health. A multicultural society is today's public-health concern.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19's appearance, and subsequent pandemic, stunned the world. The spread is rapid, and research continues to this day, prompting the WHO and government to develop ever-evolving rules. The group can break the chain of COVID-19 disease transmission by implementing hygiene precautions such as wearing masks, washing hands with soap, bringing hand sanitizers, and maintaining distance, or what is commonly referred to as social distancing and independent isolation. Aim: As the title states, this research aimed to study the dualism between human rights and public interest in using mask during COVID-19 era. Method: This analysis employs a research methodology that includes a review of normative legal studies. Findings: Using a mask is a fundamental right that everyone has to breathe safe, virus-free air. Additionally, a mask promotes group rather than individual interests. As a result, the government acts by enacting legislation restricting the use of masks and enforcing other health protocols during this COVID-19 pandemic period, using sanctions to educate citizens about the importance of mask use today.

Abstract

Background: The transfer of all or part of a donor's body organ tissue to a recipient in the hopes of improving the recipient's quality of life is known as transplantation. Meanwhile, organs are important parts of the human body that are made up of a range of tissues that can maintain structure, vascularity, and the ability to conduct physiological functions. Aim: Based on the title, this research aimed to review the ethical and legal consequences of organ donation in Indonesia. Abstract

Background: In the current global era, the medical profession is one of the professions that gets the spotlight. The spotlight on the medical profession is a sign that currently some people are not satisfied with health services and the service of the medical profession in the community. Patient dissatisfaction occurs because of unbalanced communication between doctors and patients, there is no relationship of trust between doctors and patients in the relationship that occurs. Aim: Based on the above background, the purpose of this study is to discuss clinical ethics, health law and their implementation in clinical practice. Method: The type of research that was be used in this journal research is normative legal research. Normative legal research examines law from an internal perspective with the object of research being legal norms. Findings: One of the simple things in the implementation of clinical ethics is the application of informed consent in clinical practice. Informed consent has a dual role in upholding the rights of patients and on the other hand protecting doctors in the face of lawsuits.

Abstract

Background: Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition that causes blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. It is caused by a number of things, like too much oil, clogged pores, and inflammation. Topical combination creams are an alternative treatment for acne. They can help reduce inflammation, kill bacteria that cause acne, and stop the skin from making too much oil. Topical combination creams like retinoids, antibiotics, and steroids are all mixed together in a single cream or gel. This study talks about the effectiveness and side effects of using combination creams (tretinoin 0.05%, clindamycin 3%, and dexamethasone 0.05%) to treat acne in the short and long term (local and systemic). Methods: This study is a survey that was done at the Sukma clinic with data from 2022 patients who were diagnosed with acne vulgaris. The survey was done on Google Forms, which is a website. In this study, different factors were looked at, such as demographics, efficacy (like reducing acne severity, making the skin brighter, getting rid of blackheads on the face, getting rid of acne scars, improving skin texture, hiding scars, minimizing facial pores, getting rid of wrinkles and dark spots), local adverse events (like burning, itching, stinging, eruptive papules, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, erythema, scaling, and other), and systemic adverse events. Results: The results of this study show that a combination of tretinoin 0.05%, clindamycin 3%, and dexamethasone 0.05% is very effective and has minimal side effects. Local symptoms only show up during the first week of taking the drug (the "sensitization phase"), and then they tend to get less common over time. The only exceptions are hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation, which show up later because they are caused by healing acne lesions. Conclusion: There was no direct link between the use of anti-acne combination cream drugs and the number of systemic side effects. This is because the patient had often had this happen before (constipation, GERD, and others).

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. There was an increase in the prevalence of hypertension in children and adolescents ≤19 years of age from 2000 to 2015. Body mass index (BMI) and subcutaneous fat distribution are linked to blood pressure variations. Methods: The cross-sectional study was carried out at Kalam Kudus II Senior High School Jakarta from June – August 2023. The inclusion criteria in this study included students of Kalam Kudus II Senior High School Jakarta, aged 15-18 years, registered as active students at the time the study was conducted, physically and spiritually healthy, and willing to participate in the study. The exclusion criteria for this study include students who refused participation, did not obtain permission from their parents, or students with medical disorders that affect anthropometric results and blood pressure. Data was taken from direct measurement and performed multivariate testing using the double linear regression test enter method in SPSS. The statistical significance is 0.05. Results: An analysis of 102 students found that only BMI had a significant relationship with systolic blood pressure, and no anthropometric variable had a meaningful relationship with diastolic pressure. Conclusion: There are many ways and factors for measuring body composition. It is important to test the body composition and BMI of adolescents to reduce the risk of hypertension later in the day.

Abstract

Ear health is an important aspect of individual well-being, contributing to hearing and body balance. Ear disorders can have a significant impact on quality of life. This community service activity aims to describe the ear health conditions of men and women of productive age at Kalam Kudus II High School, Duri Kosambi Village, Jakarta. Community service activities are carried out using the Plan-Do-Check-Action method. The number of participants consisted of 68 men and women of productive age (18–64 years) who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected through history-taking and physical examination of the ear, including cerumen and tympanic membrane perforation. Most respondents were aged 18–35 years (52.9%) and women (61.8%). Cerumen was found in 35.3% of right ears and 22.1% of left ears. There were no cases of tympanic membrane perforation. The age groups 36–50 years and 51–64 years have a higher prevalence of cerumen than the age group 18–35 years. The results show that the prevalence of ear problems varies by age, with an increase in older age groups. Ear hygiene education and regular checkups are recommended to prevent ear health problems. Routine monitoring and ear health education are needed to prevent ear disorders in the productive age group. These steps are important for improving quality of life and productivity. ABSTRAK Kesehatan telinga merupakan aspek penting dalam kesejahteraan individu, berperan dalam pendengaran dan keseimbangan tubuh. Gangguan pada telinga dapat berdampak signifikan pada kualitas hidup. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kondisi kesehatan telinga pada laki-laki dan perempuan usia produktif di SMA Kalam Kudus II, Kelurahan Duri Kosambi, Jakarta. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan metode Plan-Do-Check-Action. Jumlah peserta terdiri dari 68 laki-laki dan perempuan usia produktif (18-64 tahun) yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Data dikumpulkan melalui anamnesis dan pemeriksaan fisik telinga, termasuk serumen dan perforasi membran timpani. Sebagian besar responden berusia 18-35 tahun (52,9%) dan perempuan (61,8%). Serumen ditemukan pada 35,3% telinga kanan dan 22,1% telinga kiri. Tidak ada kasus perforasi membran timpani. Kelompok usia 36-50 tahun dan 51-64 tahun memiliki prevalensi serumen yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok usia 18-35 tahun. Hasil menunjukkan variasi prevalensi masalah telinga berdasarkan usia, dengan peningkatan prevalensi pada kelompok usia yang lebih tua. Edukasi kebersihan telinga dan pemeriksaan rutin dianjurkan untuk mencegah masalah kesehatan telinga. Pemantauan rutin dan edukasi kesehatan telinga diperlukan untuk mencegah gangguan telinga pada usia produktif. Langkah-langkah ini penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan produktivitas.

Abstract

Dementia and Alzheimer's disease are closely related conditions. Dementia is a condition that describes a decline in cognitive function that often occurs in the elderly population. Meanwhile, Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, which is characterised by slow and progressive memory loss and cognitive decline that significantly impacts quality of life and poses a large public health and economic burden. Early detection and prevention are very important, considering the long prodromal phase of Alzheimer's. The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) is a widely used cognitive screening tool, assessing multiple cognitive domains with high sensitivity and specificity. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method to carry out early detection of dementia in 61 elderly participants at the Hana Nursing Home, South Tangerang. The examination results showed that 5 people (8.2%), 10 people (16.39%), and 7 people (11.48%) experienced mild, moderate and severe cognitive impairment, respectively. Routine cognitive assessment and early detection are very important in order to provide appropriate interventions to slow the progression of dementia, thereby improving the participant's quality of life. ABSTRAK Demensia dan penyakit Alzheimer merupakan kondisi yang berkaitan erat. Demensia merupakan suatu kondisi yang menggambarkan penurunan fungsi kognitif yang sering terjadi pada populasi lanjut usia. Sementara itu, penyakit Alzheimer merupakan penyebab paling umum dari demensia, yang ditandai dengan hilangnya memori dan penurunan kognitif secara perlahan dan progresif yang secara signifikan berdampak pada kualitas hidup dan menimbulkan beban kesehatan dan ekonomi masyarakat yang besar. Deteksi dan pencegahan dini sangat penting mengingat fase prodromal Alzheimer yang panjang. Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) adalah alat skrining kognitif yang banyak digunakan, menilai berbagai domain kognitif dengan sensitivitas dan spesifisitas tinggi. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) untuk melakukan deteksi dini demensia pada 61 partisipan lansia di Panti Werda Hana, Tangerang Selatan. Pada hasil pemeriksaan didapatkan peserta yang mengalami gangguan kognitif ringan, sedang, dan berat masing-masing adalah 5 orang (8,2%), 10 rang (16,39%), dan 7 orang (11,48%). Penilaian kognitif secara rutin sebagia deteksi dini sangat penting dilakukan agar dapat memberikan intervensi yang tepat untuk memperlambat perkembangan demensia, sehingga meningkatkan kualitas hidup peserta.

Abstract

The ear has a natural cleaning mechanism for excessive ear wax. Ear cleaning practices, such as inserting objects into the ear canal like cotton buds, matchsticks, and other objects commonly used to clean the ears, can pose a risk of injury. Earwax, or cerumen, functions to protect the ears from dust and foreign particles. However, excessive accumulation of earwax, especially in elderly people, can impair hearing and increase the risk of infection. As a result, physical examination of the ear is an important early detection method for the elderly. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to carry out ear examinations in the elderly group at St. Mary's Church, Francis of Assisi, Jakarta. The physical examination results showed that 7 (19.4%) respondents had an unassessable right eardrum, 2 (5.6%) had a perforated left eardrum, 7 (19.4%) had prop cerumen in their right ear, and 3 (8.3%) had prop cerumen in their left ear. Educating the public about the importance of proper ear cleaning practices is crucial for maintaining overall ear health. This can help prevent injuries and maintain hearing health. ABSTRAK Telinga memiliki mekanisme pembersihan alami terhadap kotoran atau serumen telinga yang berlebihan. Praktik pembersihan telinga, seperti memasukkan benda ke dalam liang telinga seperti cotton bud, batang korek api, dan benda lainnya yang biasa digunakan untuk membersihkan telinga dapat menimbulkan risiko cedera. Kotoran telinga atau serumen berfungsi melindungi telinga dari debu dan partikel asing. Namun, akumulasi kotoran telinga yang berlebihan, terutama pada orang lanjut usia, dapat mengganggu pendengaran dan meningkatkan risiko infeksi. Oleh karena itu, pemeriksaan fisik telinga sebagai deteksi dini sangat penting dilakukan pada lansia. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metodologi PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) untuk melakukan pemeriksaan telinga pada kelompok lanjut usia di Gereja St. Fransiskus Asisi, Jakarta. Pada hasil pemeriksaan fisik diketahui bahwa terdapat 7 (19,4%) responden memiliki gendang telinga kanan yang tidak dapat dinilai, 2 (5,6%) responden memiliki gendang telinga kiri yang perforasi, 7 (19,4%) responden mengalami serumen prop pada telinga kanan serta 3 (8,3%) responden mengalami serumen prop pada telinga kiri. Edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya praktik pembersihan telinga dengan tepat sangat penting untuk kesehatan telinga secara keseluruhan. Hal ini dapat membantu mencegah cedera dan menjaga kesehatan pendengaran.
