Abstract

Coastal areas are vital for ecosystems, social, and economic systems, yet they face challenges like erosion, land-use conversion, and weak community-based management. Serdang Bedagai Regency, located in North Sumatra, has significant ecological and socio-cultural potential, but this potential has not been sustainably managed. This study analyzes strategies for sustainable coastal land management by integrating local wisdom and village government roles. A mixed-method approach was used, including in-depth interviews, field observations, and surveys with 30 respondents from two coastal villages. The qualitative findings reveal that traditional practices, such as prohibiting mangrove cutting and communal conservation traditions, are still alive in the community. The village government plays a crucial role in strengthening institutions through village regulations (Perdes), environmental programs, and spatial monitoring. However, there is a gap between community understanding of ecological values and the implementation of regulations. Quantitative analysis using multiple linear regression shows that both local wisdom and the village government's role significantly influence sustainable coastal land management, with coefficients of 0.491 and 0.426, respectively (p < 0.05). Despite some heteroskedasticity, the model passed tests for multicollinearity and normality. These findings highlight the importance of combining traditional values with institutional support to balance coastal resource utilization and conservation. This study contributes to the development of a socio-ecological coastal governance model and offers practical recommendations for village governments, policymakers, and academics in creating participatory and sustainable coastal preservation programs.

Abstract

The Compilation of Islamic Law in Indonesia gives the impression of marginalizing wives and does not regulate the possibility of nusyuz committed by husbands. The existing nusyuz norms in Indonesia still reflect gender dominance, which is contrary to the principles of justice and equality increasingly emphasized in modern society. This research seeks to address the legal gap by reconstructing the nusyuz norms in Articles 80, 84, and 149 of the Compilation of Islamic Law, drawing on the concept of Qiraah Mubadalah and John Rawls's theory of justice. This study employs legal research using legislative, historical, conceptual, case, and comparative approaches, with qualitative methods for analyzing legal materials. The findings reveal that the current nusyuz norms in the Compilation of Islamic Law still contain patriarchal bias and fail to fully realize the principle of relational justice. From the perspective of Qiraah Mubadalah, both husbands and wives have the potential to commit nusyuz, thus requiring fair legal treatment. The reconstruction of these norms should affirm the importance of reciprocity (mubadalah) in marital relationships, in which husbands and wives are not positioned hierarchically but as equal partners who fairly fulfill each other’s rights and obligations. Meanwhile, Rawls’s theory of justice suggests that legal norms should be drafted without gender bias, ensuring justice for all parties, particularly those in vulnerable positions. Therefore, the reconstructed nusyuz norms must recognize the mutual rights and obligations of both husband and wife in a fair and equal manner.

Abstract

The main objective of this review is to develop renewable energy (RE) sectors and overcome any obstacles regarding this in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has been facing energy crisis in all sectors in need of electricity. The techno-economical and policy making challenges are the main barrier of renewable energy sources installment in Bangladesh. But in recent years, Bangladesh has achieved notable progress in the development of its renewable energy industry. Bangladesh produces 723.26 MW of electricity from renewable sources, which include 67.61% solar, 31.80% hydro, and 0.58% wind, biogas, and biomass. Of these, 489 MW are produced by more than 6 million (63, 25, 278) installed solar cells. This assessment offers a thorough examination of the nation's present renewable energy situation, stressing both the fundamental difficulties and noteworthy successes. The research reviews the many renewable energy sources, such as hydropower, biomass, mechanical vibration, wind, and solar electricity, and assesses how much of each the country needs to use. Analyzing the legal and policy environment that governs renewable energy in Bangladesh, the research highlights the necessity of focused measures to remove current obstacles. It talks about how overcoming obstacles and promoting sustainable growth can be accomplished through international cooperation and financial assistance. The research also looks at the socioeconomic effects of renewable energy programs, considering how they may affect employment and electrification in rural areas. The analysis provides an outlook on the prospects of the renewable energy sector in Bangladesh. Emerging technologies, possible market trends, and innovative prospects are covered. To assist stakeholders, investors, and legislators in navigating the shift to a more resilient and sustainable energy future, recommendations are offered. With an emphasis on highlighting successes and outlining challenges, this research provides a thorough analysis of Bangladesh's renewable energy industry. Bangladesh may establish itself as a regional leader in the adoption of renewable energy sources and support international efforts to mitigate climate change by recognizing the obstacles of the present and laying out a plan for future development. This research will help to the researchers and policymakers for making more renewable energy in Bangladesh without facing any difficulties.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the implementation of penal mediation as a form of resolving minor criminal offenses committed by students at Al-Ishlah Putra Islamic Boarding School in Singosari, Malang, and to analyze its application from the perspective of maqashid sharia according to Ibnu Ashur. This article falls under qualitative library research with an empirical legal study approach. The findings show that penal mediation in this pesantren represents a legal resolution that emphasizes educational and restorative values, through mechanisms such as deliberation between the offender, the victim, and the student's guardian, as well as religious and social sanctions aimed at fostering moral awareness. From the perspective of Ibnu Ashur's maqashid sharia, this practice reflects efforts to protect the five essential aspects of life—religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property—while also demonstrating a legal approach that is rational, proportional, and oriented toward the public good (maslahah ‘ammah).

Abstract

FAD technology has an indirect impact on the development of fishery stocks, thereby increasing the diversity of fish species in the FAD area. This study aimed to determine the types of pelagic fish caught using handlines around FADs. The target of this study was traditional fishermen. This research was conducted using survey methods and was directly involved in the fishing process. Fishing was carried out using handlines with specifications consisting of the main line, weight, swivel, fishing line, and hook. Fish catch samples were measured every week starting on the fourth week after the FADs were installed, with consideration of the regularity of the sample observation interval, the weather, and the fishermen's readiness. Data analysis was performed using tabulation, and the composition of the number and percentage of each type of catch was analyzed descriptively, which is presented in the form of a picture. The results showed that the types of fish caught were large trevally (Selaroides leptolepis) with an average catch of 10.1 kg/trip, mackerel (Rastrelliger sp.) with an average catch of 4.2 kg/trip, Kuwe (Caranx ignobillis) with an average catch of the average catch is 0.9 kg/trip and lastly the Tetengkek snakehead (Megalaspis cordyla).
