Abstract

Evidence-based policymaking (EBP) relies on an epistemological assumption that evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) is the finest evidence for policy formulation, while expert testimony is the poorest one. This paper argues that while RCTs are a valuable source of empirical evidence for policy interventions, they are not sufficient on their own to support evidence-based policy formulation. Through the lens of the INUS framework of causation, we demonstrate that the effectiveness of a policy is influenced by a complex interplay of contextual factors, which RCTs alone cannot capture. We advocate for the integration of contextual and qualitative knowledge, including testimonies from experts and community members, to supplement RCT findings. This additional knowledge provides insights into the social, cultural, and subjective dimensions of the target population, addressing motivations, preferences, and other factors that can significantly impact policy success. By comparing reductionist and non-reductionist perspectives on the use of testimony in evidence-based policy, we argue for a balanced approach that values credible testimonies as essential to understanding context. Ultimately, this paper underscores the importance of a multifaceted evidence approach in crafting effective, context-sensitive public policies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and determine the best marketing strategy for Expressive Coffee in Pekanbaru using an integrated approach of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The study employs a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology through a case-study approach involving 15 respondents, including the owner, coffee experts, and regular customers of Expressive Coffee. Results indicate that Expressive Coffee possesses significant strengths such as specialty-grade coffee beans, open bar service, comprehensive facilities, and strategic location. However, weaknesses include relatively high product pricing, limited promotional activities, and restricted parking space. Major opportunities identified involve the rising healthy lifestyle trend, increasing premium coffee consumption, strategic partnerships with local farmers, and positive customer reviews. Primary threats are intense competition from emerging coffee shops and shifting consumer preferences toward convenient coffee products. Based on the QSPM analysis, the recommended strategy is the SO (Strength-Opportunities) strategy, scoring the highest Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) of 14.40, which emphasizes leveraging internal strengths to optimally exploit market opportunities.

Abstract

Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) is provided by the government for poor families as an effort to accelerate poverty reduction. The Bulang Village area will receive PKH as many as 270 families in 2021. Those who received assistance formed a KUBE (Kelompok Usaha Bersama) group in the form of a home industry. The methods used are socialization and training, discussion and practice or simulation with a participatory approach. This activity provides training and knowledge about healthy food preparations which usually use sugar which is now replaced with honey. Because the gluten content in sugar is very high which will cause diabetes. The aim is to develop the home industry, it is hoped that it can become a job opportunity, especially for housewives, in an effort to improve the social welfare of the family. The products that will be produced are processed foods made from bananas which will be made into banana cakes, crispy bananas and banana nuggets. The result is increased knowledge, skills, health, economy and independence for PKH members.

Abstract

This paper examines the intersection of Islam and socialism in Indonesia, focusing on the intellectual lineage from HOS Tjokroaminoto to Agus Salim. Both figures played pivotal roles in shaping Indonesia's political landscape during the early 20th century. Tjokroaminoto, a prominent Islamic scholar and nationalist leader, was instrumental in synthesizing Islamic principles with socialist ideals. His efforts sought to address socio-economic disparities and advocate for the rights of the common people. Agus Salim, a prominent diplomat and intellectual contemporary of Tjokroaminoto, was deeply influenced by the latter's thoughts on the harmonious integration of Islam and socialism. The type of research used is literature research, with data sources from the study of books related to Islamic socialism by Tjokroaminoto and Agus Salim. The research results show that there are three types of Tjokro's thoughts towards Agus Salim that are used as the outline of the Sarekat Islam movement: the first is the freedom of the people, the second is equality, and the third is love for the homeland and anti-capitalism. Leadership is an interpretation of its people, according to the leadership philosophy taught by Agus Salim to his political disciple Kasman Singodimedjo. Therefore, leaders must prioritize the people's interests above all else, or "leadership is suffering”.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the mediating role of job burnout and the moderating role of equity compensation on the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. The study was conducted on 131 employees of Bank X in Malang by using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that job demand had a significant direct effect on job burnout and employee satisfaction, while job burnout had no impact. On the other hand, job burnout does not play a mediating role, and equity compensation does not play a role in moderating the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. This study places job burnout as a mediating variable and equity compensation as a moderating variable on the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. An essential finding of this study is that the hypothesized mediating and moderating roles were not proven. It is necessary to pay special attention to the job demand/ demands imposed on employees to affect employee satisfaction positively. Physical demand is something that needs to be considered. When employees feel burdened and unable to meet the given physical demands, employees may experience job burnout which is indicated by the loss of enthusiasm from employees at work.

Abstract

Pidie Jaya Regency is one of the districts that contributes to capture fisheries production in Aceh Province. Pidie Jaya Harbor is the Fish Landing Base (PPI) in Meureudu. As capture fisheries activities developed at PPI Meureudu, the local government began to pay attention to building several port facilities such as basic facilities, functional facilities and supporting facilities. Supporting facilities or supporting facilities are facilities that support fishing activities at the port, one of these facilities is an ice factory. The ice factory at PPI Meureudu belongs to the Aceh marine and fisheries service which was built in 2012. The Aceh Development Fund (ADF) built an ice factory with a production capacity of up to 30 tons/day at the Meureudu Fish Landing Base (PPI), through an environmentally friendly technology program for industry fishing process. Under normal conditions, the PPI Meureudu ice factory is currently producing ice cubes in excess of fishermen's needs, so ice cubes are sold by fishermen operating in the Peulimbang and Peudada areas, Bireuen Regency. Sometimes, when the fish catch is abundant, ice is not enough to meet the ice needs for ships at PPI Meureudu and must be supplied from Sigli, Pidie Regency. This study aims to determine the need for ice in fishing and handling operations to the feasibility of the ice factory business at PPI Meureudu. This research was carried out for one month, namely in November 2022 at the Meureudu Fish Landing Base (PPI), Meureudu City, Kec. Meureudu, Pidie Jaya Regency. The data used in this study are primary data secondary data. using business feasibility analysis. The results showed that the need for ice blocks at PPI Meureudu for fishing operations within one month was 221.80 tons, and the need for ice for fish handling activities at PPI Meureudu within one month required the amount of ice to be 2,879 blocks of ice or 144,864 tons which is the result of the analysis financial value obtained from the NPV Rp. 95,761,105 can be said to be feasible because the value is greater than 0. At an IRR value of 5% it can be said to be feasible because the results of the IRR calculation are greater than the discount factor, and a Net B/C value of 1 is said to be a breakeven project because = 1. These three values have been carried out in the Meureudu PPI block ice factory business that business it is worth continuing. Keywords:Business FeasibilityIce Block FacilityPidie Jaya

Abstract

Effective and efficient plant watering remains a major challenge in the agricultural sector, especially for farmers with limited time and resources. This study aims to develop an automatic plant watering system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), which can be remotely controlled using the Blynk application. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as the central controller, a soil moisture sensor to indicate water requirements, and an RTC DS3231 module to ensure scheduled watering continues even if the internet connection is interrupted. The research methodology follows the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model, consisting of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Test results show that the system is capable of detecting soil moisture in real-time and controlling the water pump based on detected conditions. The Blynk application allows users to monitor soil status and manage watering manually or automatically. When the internet connection is lost, the RTC DS3231 module continues to execute the scheduled watering as configured. The implementation of this system improves water usage efficiency by up to 30% compared to manual methods while providing flexibility and ease in plant management. This research contributes to the application of IoT technology in agriculture, supports more sustainable resource management, and introduces a smart irrigation system that adapts to network conditions and plant needs.

Abstract

Ransomware has become one of the most pervasive and damaging forms of cyber threats, targeting individuals, organizations, and critical infrastructures. Traditional digital forensic methods, while effective, are often limited by the speed and scale required to analyze modern ransomware attacks. This research explores the integration of machine learning techniques into digital forensic analysis to enhance the detection, classification, and investigation of ransomware. Using a controlled virtual environment, ransomware samples were executed and monitored to extract forensic artifacts from system logs, memory, and network activity. Features such as file entropy, API call behavior, and command-and-control (C2) communication patterns were analyzed. Machine learning models, particularly Random Forest and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), were trained to identify ransomware behaviors with high accuracy. The Random Forest model achieved a detection accuracy of 96.4%, with strong precision and recall scores. The study also developed an automated forensic framework capable of real-time incident response and evidence extraction. Compared to previous research, this study offers improved generalization to unknown ransomware variants and faster forensic processing. The findings highlight the potential of digital forensic machine analysis as a robust solution for modern ransomware defense and investigation.
