Abstract

An individual's ego identity, a self-image that grows, develops, and internalizes through social interaction, is the culmination of the psychosocial phases they have experienced. This study examined the effectiveness of reality group counseling in enhancing the ego identity of high school students, using a pretest-posttest control group experimental design. Based on the ego identity inventory results, eight students were identified as having low ego identity. The study used two types of instruments: treatment and measurement. The treatment instrument was a reality group counseling implementation guide, and the measurement instrument was an ego identity inventory with a total item validity above the critical r value of 0.344 and a reliability coefficient of 0.957, indicating that the inventory is reliable and suitable for research purposes. Researchers analyzed the data using non-parametric statistical tests. The hypothesis testing yielded an N-Gain percentage of 109.18 > 76 and an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.012 < 0.05. Therefore, the study rejected the null hypothesis and accepted the alternative hypothesis, suggesting that reality group counseling effectively enhances the ego identity of high school students. Keywords: ego identity, reality group counseling, high school students

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of life among children with cancer and to examine the role of community guidance and counseling in their meaning-making process. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed. The participants were two female children under 18 years old diagnosed with bone cancer who had undergone transtibial amputation. Data were collected through observation, unstructured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation to ensure data trustworthiness. The findings reveal that both participants have discovered their meaning of life as reflected in Viktor Frankl’s three sources of values: creative, experiential, and attitudinal values. Creative values were expressed through drawing as a medium for emotional catharsis; experiential values were reflected in relational experiences and future aspirations shaped by their experiences as cancer patients; and attitudinal values were demonstrated through acceptance of their condition, resilience in undergoing treatment, and spiritual orientation. Community guidance and counseling played a significant role through group guidance, individual counseling, and psychoeducation and advocacy to enhance social support. These findings highlight that a community-based counseling approach contributes to strengthening the meaning of life and psychological well-being of children with cancer.

Abstract

Limited access to formal school mental health services has increased the importance of subject teachers as providers of initial psychosocial support. However, practical guidance that helps non-counselor teachers apply person-centered principles in everyday classroom interactions remains scarce. This study aimed to develop and establish the preliminary feasibility and content validity of a digital person-centered support guide for junior high school subject teachers. The study employed the ADDIE model within an early-stage feasibility framework. A needs analysis was conducted in four junior high schools in South Halmahera, Indonesia. The product was developed as a Google Sites platform, validated by two experts, and pilot-tested with four subject teachers. The findings showed that all validation items were rated as relevant (I-CVI = 1.00; S-CVI/Ave = 1.00), although several linguistic and technical aspects still required refinement. Teachers also reported high initial acceptability and perceived usefulness. These findings suggest that the guide has potential as a school-based psychosocial support resource, although broader field testing is still needed.

Abstract

Impulsive behavior is an action that is done spontaneously and suddenly, without careful consideration or possible consequences. Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder often act without thinking, have difficulty controlling their impulses, and often do risky things without considering the consequences. Group counseling services are a form of psychological therapy where a group of individuals meet regularly to discuss the problems they face with a counselor. Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often have a tendency to imitate the behavior of individuals around them. Therefore, modeling techniques are considered suitable for use in group counseling, because this technique allows group members to learn through observation and imitation of behavior exemplified by the counselor or other members. The application of group counseling using modeling techniques is important to study in relation to controlling impulsive behavior in children with ADHD. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of group counseling with the modeling method in reducing impulsive behavior in children with ADHD, using a quantitative approach through a literature review. The results of the study indicate that: (1) Group counseling approach through modeling techniques can be a way of intervention for children with ADHD, and (2) this technique is effective in suppressing impulsive behavior in children with ADHD.

Abstract

Abstract

In the context of 21st-century education, the increasing problems of student behavior and mental health require an individual empowerment-based counseling approach such as Reality Counseling which emphasizes internal control and conscious choice to overcome academic failure and build students' positive identities. This article aims to explore in depth the Reality Therapy approach developed by William Glasser and its relevance in the context of modern education. As an approach focused on the present and personal responsibility, Reality Counseling offers a practical framework through Choice Theory. The method used in this paper is a narrative literature study synthesizing various primary and secondary sources, including material from the William Glasser Institute. Key findings suggest that human behavior is driven by five basic genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun. Through the concept of Total Behavior and the WDEP (Wants, Direction, Evaluation, Planning) Model, counselors can guide students to evaluate the effectiveness of their own behavior and develop more constructive action plans. Implications for guidance and counseling (BK) practice in schools include strengthening teacher-student relationships, increasing responsibility for learning, and developing a success identity. This article concludes that the systematic implementation of Reality Counseling can create a school environment without failure (Schools Without Failure) that supports the psychological well-being and academic achievement of students

Abstract

Gender issues in multicultural counseling are becoming increasingly important because the complexity of gender identity and differences in cultural values can trigger psychological stress, thus requiring counselors to be sensitive, inclusive, and able to create a safe space for clients. This research aims to examine gender issues in multicultural counseling and their implications for encouraging the development of more inclusive and effective counseling services for diverse clients. This research was compiled using a literature review approach, examining various theories, methods, and previous research findings related to gender issues in multicultural counseling. This review revealed several gaps in the research that remain largely unexplored. At the same time, this approach also helps to develop a more comprehensive understanding of how cultural diversity influences counseling practice. Interestingly, emerging findings suggest that a deep understanding of the relationship between culture and gender roles is no longer merely an add-on, but a primary need. Without it, counseling services risk bias and a lack of responsiveness. Therefore, multicultural counselors are required to have strong cultural awareness to see clients more holistically without becoming trapped by assumptions or stereotypes. Ultimately, when the approach used truly takes this complexity into account, multicultural counseling can be a space that not only helps individuals navigate gender issues, but also supports their psychological well-being more holistically amidst diverse social realities

Abstract

Digital transformation in the healthcare sector has driven the development of the SatuSehat application as an integrated health service platform in Indonesia. However, the increasing number of users is accompanied by diverse user reviews that reflect user experiences and satisfaction, requiring systematic analysis to understand these perceptions. This study aims to analyze user sentiment in SatuSehat application reviews using a transformer-based deep learning model, namely IndoBERT. The research method employed is Knowledge Discovery from Data (KDD), which includes data collection through web scraping from the Google Play Store, preprocessing, text transformation, classification, and model evaluation. The dataset consists of 3,000 reviews categorized into three sentiment classes: negative, neutral, and positive. The results indicate that the IndoBERT model achieves an accuracy of 86.56%, with precision of 86.01%, recall of 86.56%, and an F1-score of 84.33%. The findings reveal that negative sentiment dominates, primarily related to technical issues such as system errors and login difficulties. In conclusion, IndoBERT is effective in understanding the context of the Indonesian language in informal reviews and can serve as a foundation for developing automated sentiment monitoring systems to improve digital healthcare service quality
