Abstract

Abstract

Qur’anic studies in Indonesia have undergone significant methodological transformations, evolving from oral traditions to written interpretations. This study addresses the scholarly gap regarding the lack of integrated analyses that holistically examine the traditions of Qur’anic recitation, writing, and interpretation in the Indonesian context. Employing a qualitative method through desk research, this study critically engages with both primary and secondary sources, including classical and contemporary tafsir works, standardized Indonesian mus}h}af editions, and academic journal articles. The findings reveal that the evolution of Qur’anic studies in Indonesia has been shaped by the interplay between local cultures and global Islamic traditions. Oral transmission methods such as Baghdadiyah and nagham characterized the early phase which gradually transitioned into written forms exemplified by the production of standardized mus}h}af manuscripts such as Mushaf Bahriyyah, Bombay, Braille, and Sign Language editions which aim to ensure both accessibility and authenticity. In terms of interpretation, prominent Indonesian scholars such as Abdur Rauf Singkili, HAMKA, and M. Quraish Shihab have developed context-based approaches tailored to socio-cultural realities. This study concludes that Qur’anic studies in Indonesia are dynamic, continually adapting to technological, cultural, and social changes. However, further research is necessary to explore interdisciplinary interpretive approaches involving gender, ecology, and socio-political issues. Strengthening contextual and thematic interpretations will enhance the role of the Qur’an as a responsive and transformative source of guidance for contemporary Indonesian Muslim society.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the quality of chicken semen from Kampung Unggulan Balitbangtan (KUB) in Ringer lactate-egg yolk diluent with carrot extract supplementation during cold storage. A total of 6 KUB males were selected for the experiment and each of them was subjected to 5 collections of semen. The experiment was performed using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 treatments. These treatments included P0 (100% Ringer lacate-egg yolk without carrot extract), P1 (80% Ringer lacate-egg yolk + 20% carrot extract), P2 (60% Ringer lacate-egg yolk + 40% carrot extract), P3 (Ringer lactate yolk 40% + 60% carrot extract). The research variables consisted of motility, viability, abnormalities of spermatozoa, and plasma membrane integrity. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's test. It was discovered that the percentage of motility and viability up to 48 hours of storage showed significant differences (p<0.05) between treatments. The best results were in group P2, with motility and viability being 40.33 ± 6.60% and 60.86 ± 7.84%, respectively. Abnormalities of spermatozoa up to 24 hours of storage showed significant differences (p<0.05) between treatments, and not significantly different (p>0.05) at 48 hours of storage. Furthermore, plasma membrane integrity failed to show a significant difference between groups at 1 hour of storage and was significantly different (p<0.05) at 24 and 48 hours of storage. The best or the highest result is in the P2 group, with plasma membrane integrity being 71.89 ± 2.40%. It was concluded that the use of 40% carrot extract supplementation in Ringer lacate-egg yolk diluent tends to maintain the quality of KUB chicken semen in cold storage for up to 48 hours and was suitable for the application of artificial insemination.

Abstract

Phenol formaldehyde is one of the adhesives often used in wood processing, such as panels, particle boards, fiberboards, plywood, and others. However, the implementation of phenol formaldehyde adhesive has been greatly limited because of its non-renewability and toxicity. Modifying phenol formaldehyde adhesives is needed to reduce formaldehyde emission by adding tannin to the adhesive mixture. This study aims to extract tannin compounds from Java plum leaves with ethanol as a solvent for adhesive mixture. The adhesive implementation on plywood was also prepared, with various tannin content in the range of 10%-50%. The obtained data from tannin extraction from Java plum leaves are tannin yield, functional groups, total phenolic content, viscosity, and compressive test on plywood. The highest tannin yield and content are 46.70% and 27.88 mg/L, respectively, obtained at the weight ratio 1:5. At the same time, products of tannin-phenol formaldehyde have a viscosity as SNI 1987 standards for wood adhesives, namely in the range of 0.68-0.71 poise, while the result of the compressive strength is in the range of 0.02-0.05 N/mm2 and has met the requirement of SNI 1998 standards. Therefore, the tannin from Java plum leaves is a promising substitution of phenol in phenol formaldehyde in some aspects of the wood processing industry.

Abstract

Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) is a therapeutic technique that involves sequentially tensing and relaxing muscle groups to promote physical and mental relaxation. It is widely used to improve sleep quality, particularly in adults experiencing sleep disturbances. This systematic review aimed to examine the effectiveness of PMR in enhancing sleep quality. A systematic literature search was conducted using four electronic databases—ScienceDirect, Scopus, PubMed, and CINAHL—covering publications from 2017 to 2022. The keywords used were “progressive muscle relaxation” and “sleep quality.” A total of 1,085 articles were initially identified. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the PICOT framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time), and following a multi-stage screening process, seven studies were included in the final analysis. The included studies consisted of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and clinical observational studies involving adult participants. The methodological quality of each study was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal checklist. All seven studies reported statistically significant improvements in sleep quality following the implementation of PMR. However, variations were found in participant characteristics, duration and frequency of the PMR intervention, and the use of adjunct therapies. Progressive muscle relaxation, when performed under professional supervision, is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to improve sleep quality in adults.
