Abstract

This article discusses Thaifur Ali Wafa's response to the polemics of Islamic theology in Madura through his monumental work Tafsir Firdaws al-Naʿīm. As a pesantren cleric and structural NU figure, Thaifur represents Madurese clerical authority. In his career, he provides critical responses to Muktazilah thoughts, including such issues as the inability to see God in heaven, God's obligation to do good, and God's promises and threats. This library research uses the content analysis method. Using the sociology of knowledge approach, this study finds that Thaifur Ali Wafa's response to Muktazilah thought reflects the strong influence of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah ideology. This ideology was formed due to Madurese cultural factors and Thaifur Ali Wafa's scientific genealogy. This article is significant in illustrating the network and intellectual relationship between Nusantara Muslims and Middle Eastern scholars, which is crucial in the writing of Islamic scholarly works in the archipelago, including in Madura. It reflects the complexity and diversity of Islamic thought in the region, which is influenced by intercultural interactions and intellectual exchanges that have taken place over centuries.

Abstract

Understanding qital verses in language and context is crucial in correcting radical views. In understanding a verse about war or killing, it is essential always to consider the historical context and use an adequate linguistical analysis to avoid mistakes in concluding the meaning of said passages. If these two aspects are applied during the interpretation of qital verses, radicalized views will be able to be reduced. One of the interpretation books qualified as such is Nawawi al-Bantani's Marah Labid. There is a uniqueness within this interpretation that is interesting to study. This research used the qualitative model to understand qital verses and the contextualization in Marah Labid's interpretation. The method used for this research was normative research. The primary source of this research was the Marah Labid, which is the interpretation of Nawawi regarding qital verses. Data collection and analysis were done by searching and studying Syaikh Nawawi's interpretation of qital, then contextualizing them with recent times using Fazlul Rahman's theory. The result of this research underlined a few points; firstly, in almost every qital verse, Nawawi's interpretation began with the word ibtida', which means 'is started (by).' With this interpretation, it is understood that the qital verses are not orders to wage war against unbelievers without the existence or threat of attacks. On the contrary, these verses placed war as a means to retaliate against the unbelievers who have attacked first or are known to have plans to attack (kill). Secondly, the order to wage war must be interpreted with the context behind its reveal in mind; said condition should then be compared and correlated with recent times.

Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction (IMA) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, so early diagnosis is needed to detect the disease. High sensitivity troponin assessment is a biomarker examination that can diagnose Acute Myocardial Infarction. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of High Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin and as an early diagnosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction (IMA). This study is a systematic review study of 4 databases, namely Scopus, PubMed, EBSCO Host, and Sage Journals, with the keywords "high sensitivity cardiac troponin" AND "acute myocardial infarction". The results of the study followed the protocol and rules of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) and used the JBI tool to assess the quality of the articles to be analyzed. The inclusion criteria in this study are articles taken in the last 5 years using the Randomized Control Trials (RCT) method and observational studies. A literature search yielded 452 research articles, of which 10 were included after several selections in a systematic review and were eligible for analysis. The ten articles used random comparison and observation research methods. All articles show that high sensitivity cardiac troponin has high sensitivity and specificity in supporting the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. This shows that high sensitivity cardiac troponin is one of the biomarker examinations that has high sensitivity in identifying patients with a high risk of acute myocardial infarction. This finding is expected to be a reference for health workers to determine the initial diagnosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction (IMA).

Abstract

Individuals undergoing ostomy surgery frequently encounter various physical, emotional, and social challenges that may adversely affect their quality of life. Continuous Nursing Care (CNC) has been recognized for its potential in strengthening self-care skills and decreasing the incidence of postoperative complications. This review seeks to evaluate the influence of CNC on enhancing life quality and addressing complications among individuals with an ostomy. Objective to determine the effectiveness of Continuous Nursing Care (CNC) in improving quality of life and managing complications among patients undergoing ostomy surgery. This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was performed for studies published between 2019 and 2023, utilizing Boolean operators and MeSH terms: ("nursing" OR "nurse" OR "care") AND ("ostomy" OR "stoma") AND ("continuous") AND ("management") AND ("quality of life") AND "complication", across five electronic databases: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest. The initial search yielded 968 articles. After removing 28 duplicates, 940 articles remained for title and abstract screening. A total of 151 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility, and 13 studies met the inclusion criteria for the final synthesis. The included studies comprised randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental designs evaluating Continuous Nursing Care (CNC) interventions among ostomy patients, with outcome measures including quality of life, self-care ability, psychological well-being, and complication management. Methodological quality was appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools for both RCTs and quasi-experimental studies. Only studies scoring above 65% were included in the final analysis. Thirteen studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. CNC interventions including structured education, telehealth services, home-based care, and psychosocial support were shown to enhance quality of life, improve self-care abilities, and reduce complications after surgery. Furthermore, CNC demonstrated effectiveness in decreasing peristomal infections, psychological distress (e.g., anxiety and depression), and in promoting self-efficacy and emotional adjustment in ostomy patients. Continuous Nursing Care (CNC) has been identified as a promising strategy to enhance quality of life, psychological health, and self-care capacity, while also reducing the risk of complications in individuals with an ostomy. Nonetheless, the variability in intervention models highlights the necessity for additional research utilizing theory-based frameworks, larger sample sizes, and meta-analytic methods to determine the most effective care approaches.

Abstract

The article examines the Qur’anic concept of martyrdom often linked to jihad as an armed conflict. While the Arabic term is associated with dying in battle, the original Qur’anic meaning is to bear testimony to the truth of Islam, which can be done in many ways. Using content analysis, this study examines modern Indonesian interpretations of the concept of martyrdom by Quraish Shihab, Hamka, and Nawawī al-Bantanī and compares them with the classical commentaries. The research highlights that the idea of military martyrdom is too narrow to give justice to this concept. Early and later sources show a broad range of definitions of “dying in the cause of Allah”. The article argues that understanding the role of the martyr (shahīd) solely in the context of warfare is too narrow an interpretation. A broader interpretation of martyrdom is offered to provide a moderate, relevant perspective for contemporary Indonesian Muslims, suggesting that the concept of shahīd encompasses much more than just the notion of the believer dying in battle.
