Abstract

The background of this study is caused by third-grade students’ low learning outcome in SDN 161 Pekanbaru. It is indicated by their social science test scores from 24 students. A minimum completeness criterion in this school is 75, but the number of students who score above this criterion is 8 students, and 16 students are below the criteria. The average score is 66.46. To solve this problem, the researchers apply a talking stick cooperative learning model assisted by question box media. This model is believed in supporting teachers in improving the learning activities because it can build a better classroom atmosphere that triggers students’ spirit and make students more active to express their opinions. Media use also makes students more interested in the learning process and stimulate students' emotional and intellectual involvement. This study applies the classroom action research that consists of two cycles. The subject is the third-grade students at SDN 161 Pekanbaru. After the implementation of the classroom action research, students’ learning outcomes increase from 66.46 to 75.83 in the first cycle (increase 14.10%), and 82.92 in the second cycle (increase 24.77% from the initial score). So, the implementation of the talking stick cooperative learning model assisted by question box media can increase third-grade students’ social science learning outcomes in SDN 161 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The background of this research is the problem of reading ability of grade 1 elementary school students in 009 Kepau Jaya Public Elementary School, Siak Hulu Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, as seen by students who have difficulty recognizing letters, even though the teacher often repeats the letters in front of the class, saying words, and matching pictures with writing when the teacher uses the task of matching images with children's writing tends to be less able to do it. This study aims to analyze the reading ability of grade 1 elementary school students at 009 Kepau Jaya Public Elementary School. The population and sample in this study were all first-grade students of 009 Public Elementary School Siak Hulu, Siak Hulu Subdistrict, amounting to 30 students. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive to analyze the reading ability of grade 1 elementary school students at 009 Kepau Jaya Public Elementary School, Siak Hulu District, Kampar District. The data collection technique used was the observation of grade 1 students and analyzed to find out the results of descriptive statistics that illustrated the level of ability to educate elementary school students in grade 1. Based on the results of the study it was found that the ability to read first-grade students of 009 Kepau Jaya Public Elementary School in Siak Hulu District was a low category. This can be seen in the category of scores obtained by students where 18 or 60% of students are in the low initial reading ability, while the remaining 12 or 40% of students are in moderate reading ability. This is influenced by physiological factors, intellectual factors, environmental factors, and psychological factors.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the not yet optimal learning outcomes of sixth grade science in Pekanbaru Elementary School, through the results of direct interviews with several elementary school students in sixth grade, it is known that most students find it easier to learn while listening to audio rather than visual and kinesthetic. This study aims to find out: (1) the influence of quantum learning model nuances of Mozart's music on learning outcomes of class VIb Science at SD Negeri 82 Pekanbaru; and (2) the influence of the quantum learning model with Beathoven music nuances on learning outcomes of science class VI in SD Negeri 58 Pekanbaru. This research is an experimental research with true-experimental design, namely posttest only control design. The results showed that: (1) there was the influence of quantum learning model nuances of Mozart's music on learning outcomes of class VIb Science in SD Negeri 82 Pekanbaru. It is known from the value of the tcount> value t table (3.037> 2.064). Thus, the research hypothesis which is said is thought to have the influence of quantum learning model nuances of Mozart's music on learning outcomes of science class VIb SD Negeri 82 Pekanbaru, accepted; and (2) there is the influence of the quantum learning model nuanced by Beathoven music on learning outcomes of the sixth grade science of Pekanbaru Pekanbaru Elementary School. It is known from the value of tcount> ttable (2.834> 2.093). However, after comparing the two learning outcomes of the experimental group, it was found that there was no difference, because tcount <value t table (0.509 <2.014). Thus, the research hypothesis which is said to be presumed to have the influence of the quantum learning model nuances of Beathoven music on the learning outcomes of class VIa Science in Pekanbaru Elementary School 58, was accepted.

Abstract

Critical thinking is sensible thinking that focuses on deciding what they should do. This research method uses the 4-D model proposed by Thiagarajan and Semmel with four stages consisting of define, design, development and disseminate. This study only evaluates validators in the value of test instruments with research results assessed by validators about the contents of critical thinking test instruments with an average of 87.5 in the very feasible category, while in the validation results the presentace of critical thinking assessment instruments with an average of 98% in the very decent category. For this reason, it was concluded that the critical thinking test reading instrument with graphic organizer media was appropriate to be used to measure students' abilities in critical thinking

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the low ability to read the beginning of students, so that the SAS method is applied so that it can help students in the success of reading the beginning. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in pretest and posttest by applying structural analytical synthetic(SAS) in reading the beginning of elementary school students and to determine the increase in pretest and posttest in reading the beginning of students. This type of research is a pre-experimental type of pretest-posttest one group design, which is an experiment that is only carried out in only one group, without comparison. This study was conducted in class 1 with 34 students. Based on the results of the study it was found that the average reading ability before being treated (pretest) was 51.77 while the average reading ability after treatment (posttest) was 88.41 and the average value of gain normality was 0.76 which including the high category and the results of hypothesis testing using t-test with tcount=51.080 and ttable=2.0345 can be concluded tcount>ttable, then reject H0 means significant. This means that there is an increase in initial reading in class I students who are significant between before (pretest) and after (posttest) applying the Structural Analytical Synthetic (SAS) method.
