Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in the digital era has significantly influenced language use patterns among students. One linguistic phenomenon emerging from this transformation is bahasa plesetan (wordplay), a modified form of language used to create humor, satire, or creative expression. This study aims to analyze the forms and characteristics of bahasa plesetan used by students in the digital era, examine its influence on language literacy skills, and formulate effective learning strategies to balance linguistic creativity with mastery of standard language. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a library research method. Data were obtained from various academic sources and analyzed through content analysis to interpret the linguistic patterns and sociocultural meanings embedded in the phenomenon of bahasa plesetan. The findings reveal that bahasa plesetan serves dual functions: as a medium of creative expression and as a representation of students’ social identity in digital spaces. While it enriches linguistic creativity, it also risks diminishing sensitivity to formal language norms if not accompanied by adequate digital literacy and proper guidance. Therefore, Indonesian language learning should integrate contemporary linguistic phenomena such as bahasa plesetan into reflective and contextual pedagogical strategies to strengthen students’ language literacy in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of earnings management and internal control on tax avoidance, with political connections as a moderating variable. The research method used is purposive sampling with a total sample of 44 obtained from 11 selected companies. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis and MRA testing. The results of this study indicate that earnings management does not have a positive effect on tax avoidance, while effective internal control has a negative effect on tax avoidance. The moderating variable of political connections does not moderate the effect of earnings management on tax avoidance but can weaken the effect of internal control on tax avoidance. Internal control not only prevents fraud in financial statements but also helps avoid tax avoidance practices. The implication of this study is that information related to the effectiveness of internal control can be one of the factors in determining a company's compliance, including in financial statement management, and companies that have political connections should maintain their relationships by avoiding practices that could damage the company's reputation and image.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of effective sentences in observation report texts of eighth-grade students of Al-Chodidjah Tebuireng Integrated Junior High School. The study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The study population consisted of 22 eighth-grade students. From this population, students were divided into five groups of 4–5 students each, with a sample of 10 observation report texts or two groups being analyzed. The research data consisted of observation report texts written by students as a result of writing learning assignments. Data collection was carried out through written tests, while data analysis was carried out by identifying the use of effective sentences based on indicators of unity of ideas, economy of words, sentence cohesion, and accuracy of sentence structure. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical calculations with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that students' ability to use effective sentences was in the sufficient category. Students generally understood the basic structure of sentences, but their application in writing observation report texts was not optimal. There were still sentences that were too long, unnecessary repetition of words, imbalance in subject-predicate structure, and inconsistent use of spelling and punctuation. The main obstacles faced by students include difficulty choosing diction, poor understanding of sentence structure, the habit of writing branching sentences, and low metalinguistic awareness. These findings indicate the need to strengthen micro-language skills in learning to write observational report texts.

Abstract

Background: Low birth weight (LBW) is one of the causes of infants death. One of the factors that is proven to be associated with LBW incidence is pesticide exposure to pregnant women. The high number of female farmers in the agricultural sector will increase the risk of pesticide exposure in pregnant women. Objectives: This study aims to describe how pesticide exposure can be a risk factor for the incidence of LBW. Research method: This study is a systematic study that used meta-synthesis aggregation approach. The search for articles focused on articles that examined the risk factors for pesticide exposure on the incidence of LBW in pregnant women which was conducted on the online databases of Science Direct, Scopus, PubMed, Springer, Google Scholar, and Garuda Portal. The criteria for the articles used were national observational journals indexed at least 4 and indexed international journals published in 2010-2020. Result: There were 9 articles that match to the criteria and research topic. Factors that were proven to increase the risk of LBW incidence in pregnant women were agricultural activities related to pesticide, participation in agricultural activities, completeness of PPE, storage of pesticide, duration of exposure to pesticide, frequency of exposure to pesticide, amount of pesticide mixture, and types of pesticide used. Conclusion: Pesticide exposure to pregnant women causes the accumulation of pesticide residues in the body, thus reducing the formation of thyroid hormones and IGF-1 which can cause LBW.

Abstract

Vegetation indices are algorithms that represent aspects of vegetation such as leaf area index, biomass, and chlorophyll concentration. The index is thought to be used to determine chlorophyll and nitrogen content which makes it more effective and efficient. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between vegetation indices and chlorophyll and nitrogen content of corn leaves through a cloud computing platform. Vegetation indices were obtained from Sentinel 2A image processing with Google Earth Engine. Chlorophyll and nitrogen content were obtained from laboratory analysis. This study used 13 sample points in corn crop areas spread across Dlanggu, Bangsal, and Jatirejo sub-districts in Mojokerto district. The correlation test was used to determine the level of relationship between variables. The results showed that the vegetation index generated from image processing through GEE had no correlation with chlorophyll and nitrogen content from laboratory analysis. The weak correlation was thought to be due to atmospheric effects such as clouds, as well as climatic effects such as the rainy season and cloudy skies, which cause the calculation of vegetation indices to be disrupted. The dominant phase of the sample plants in the early generative phase and the possibility of errors in the analysis of chlorophyll and nitrogen content were thought to contribute to the lack of correlation in this study.
