Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the influence of tax socialization, tax incentives, tax sanctions and trust in taxation institutions on taxpayer compliance, as well as the moderating role of trust in taxation institutions in strengthening the influence of tax socialization, tax incentives, and tax sanctions on taxpayer compliance. Data were collected through a survey of one hundred people who are taxpayers in Gresik. The results of the analysis show that tax socialization and tax incentives do not have a significant influence on taxpayer compliance, while tax sanctions have a positive influence on taxpayer compliance. In addition, trust in taxation institutions is also unable to strengthen the influence of tax sanctions on taxpayer compliance. These findings indicate that although trust in tax institutions is an important factor, it is not strong enough to increase taxpayer compliance through socialization, incentives, or sanctions. Therefore, a more comprehensive approach is needed in designing effective tax policies. Recommendations to improve taxpayer compliance include improving the quality and relevance of tax socialization, simplifying the process and increasing the accessibility of tax incentives, and stricter and more consistent law enforcement. This research contributes to the tax literature by highlighting the role of trust in tax institutions and suggesting more effective policies to improve taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

Mathematical metaphorical thinking ability is essential for students to transform abstract concepts into more concrete ideas, thereby facilitating in-depth understanding and connections between mathematical topics. This research aims to explore of mathematical metaphorical thinking ability of eighth-grade students when they engage in the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning process. The CPS model was chosen because its structured thinking stages especially the Idea Finding phase are expected to trigger a strong divergence thinking process in metaphor formation. This study used a qualitative approach with eighth-grade students as the purposefully selected subjects. Data were collected through a mathematical metaphorical thinking ability test instrument followed by semi-structured interviews to identify the level and type of metaphors used. The results of the analysis show that the CPS learning environment successfully activated and mapped the use of various mathematical metaphors in students. Students who showed high metaphorical ability tended to construct more original and relational metaphors, which played an important role in complex problem-solving. Conversely, students with moderate ability mostly used conventional or functional-structural metaphors to clarify initial understanding. The conclusion of this study confirms that the integration of CPS is an effective strategy for identifying and honing the potential for mathematical metaphorical thinking in junior high school students, providing a basis for improving mathematics teaching strategies centered on creativity.

Abstract

Misconceptions in polynomial material pose a significant issue in mathematics education, hindering students’ conceptual understanding. This study aims to examine the effect of collaborative learning on students’ misconceptions regarding polynomials in Grade XI at SMA Negeri 14 Kota Jambi. The research employed a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control-group design involving 57 students: 28 in the experimental group and 29 in the control group. The research instrument was a diagnostic test in the form of essay items, validated by subject matter experts, and administered as both a pretest and a posttest to measure misconceptions in polynomial operations, polynomial division, and the factors and roots of polynomial equations. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, gain scores, and an independent sample t-test. The results indicated that collaborative learning was highly effective in reducing student misconceptions. The experimental group showed a 42.3% reduction in misconception scores (from 71.29 to 41.14), while the control group experienced only a 12.2% decrease (from 70.93 to 62.24). Hypothesis testing revealed a highly significant difference (p < 0.001) with a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 8.848). All students in the experimental group reached the low misconception category, whereas all students in the control group remained in the moderate category. Therefore, collaborative learning was proven to be more effective than conventional instruction in addressing students’ misconceptions

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning climate and learning styles on students' creativity in Islamic Education. Employing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the research involved 42 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires to measure learning climate, learning styles, and student creativity, and subsequently analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate a significant positive influence of both learning climate and learning styles on students' creativity. Specifically, the regression analysis yielded coefficients of 0.240 for learning climate and 0.269 for learning styles, confirming that both variables contribute significantly to the outcome. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.148 reveals that learning climate and learning styles explain 14.8% of the variance in student creativity, while the remaining 85.2% is attributed to other factors outside the scope of this study. These results suggest that optimizing the classroom environment and accommodating diverse learning preferences are essential, though not exclusive, strategies for fostering creativity.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the revitalization process of Kolpajung Market as a case of public policy innovation grounded in good governance principles. The revitalization incorporates three major innovations: digitalization of retribution and kiosk rental systems, financing through a Public–Private Partnership scheme, and commodity-based zoning arrangements. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to explore policy dynamics, stakeholder participation, and challenges in implementing transparency, accountability, participation, and effectiveness. The findings reveal that although the revitalization reflects efforts toward structural transformation, the implementation of good governance principles remains partial. Public participation tends to be more procedural than substantive, while bureaucratic actors dominate decision-making processes. Information transparency is perceived as limited, and accountability mechanisms have not been systematically established. These issues hinder the policy’s effectiveness, as the improvement in the market’s socio-economic function after revitalization remains suboptimal. The theoretical reflection suggests that policy innovation has not yet led to an inclusive and sustainable governance transformation, as emphasized by Osborne and Gaebler and Habermas’s deliberative framework. This study underscores the importance of integrating policy innovation with institutional reform and the need for participatory communication strategies to strengthen society’s role as active agents in development. Strengthening local actor capacity, establishing community-based monitoring mechanisms, and developing result-based governance evaluation indicators are recommended for future traditional market revitalization initiatives. Keywords: Market Revitalization, Policy Innovation, Good Governance, Public Participation, Local Governance.
