Abstract

Empowerment, from a social science perspective, is defined as an effort to meet the needs required by an individual or community group. Community participation plays a crucial role in making empowerment a process that creates a conducive environment for developing the potential of the people. For the empowerment process to run effectively, there must be efforts to raise community awareness about the conditions they face through communication strategies. Pringsewu Regency possesses local potential, resources, and natural beauty that have been utilized by the Nggruput Pringsewu Community, the initiators of the Sunday Morning Market tourism program, known as Nggruput Pringsewu. This traditional market significantly supports the economic growth of the Pringsewu area. This research aims to analyze the communication strategies employed by the Nggruput Pringsewu Community and the outcomes of community empowerment through the Nggruput tourism initiative in Pringsewu Regency. The research uses a qualitative field study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings indicate that: 1) The communication strategy applied by the Nggruput Pringsewu Community in empowering the community is based on participatory principles. The strategy is implemented through three main approaches: community participation, the use of digital technology, and collaboration with various stakeholders including the government, social communities, and youth organizations (Karang Taruna). 2) The results of community empowerment through Nggruput tourism are evident in two main aspects: social and economic. In the social aspect, there is an improvement in community well-being through active involvement in tourism management, the development of public facilities, and social and educational activities conducted by the community. In the economic aspect, the Nggruput tourism initiative creates business opportunities for the community, thus increasing local incomes.

Abstract

Abstract

In the context of increasing public reliance on religious-based media as credible sources of information, Islamic media play an important role in shaping moral discourse and public interpretation of political events. The 2025 demonstrations in Indonesia raised various humanitarian concerns, including violence, student arrests, and human rights violations. This research aims to analyze how NU Online and Suara Muhammadiyah frame humanitarian issues in their coverage of the August–September 2025 demonstrations. The study employs a qualitative framing analysis using Robert Entman’s framing model. Data were collected from selected news articles published by both media outlets during the peak period of the demonstrations and analyzed comparatively to identify similarities and differences in framing patterns. The findings reveal that both media outlets emphasize humanitarian concerns but construct them through different interpretative frameworks influenced by their organizational orientations. NU Online tends to frame demonstrations through narratives of human rights, social justice, and protection of demonstrators, while Suara Muhammadiyah emphasizes social ethics, moderation, dialogue, and political stability. These differences indicate that Islamic online media function as active agents in constructing humanitarian discourse and shaping public understanding of political demonstrations. This study contributes theoretically to the development of framing theory in the context of Islamic digital media and enriches the literature on Islamic political communication. In practice, the findings suggest the importance of ethical, balanced framing in religious media coverage of political events discourse.

Abstract

Consumption is an economic activity inseparable from human life. From an Islamic economic perspective, consumption activities are not only oriented towards fulfilling needs and satisfaction but must also be based on sharia values. This article aims to analyze the concept of consumption in Islamic economics and the principles that govern it. The research method used is a qualitative literature study approach, reviewing various sources such as books, journals, and other relevant scientific references. The results of the discussion indicate that consumption in Islam emphasizes the principles of halal (permissible) and thayyib (good), the prohibition of excess (israf), and the importance of balancing individual needs and social responsibility. Therefore, the application of Islamic consumption principles is expected to create well-being that is not only material but also spiritual.

Abstract

The hijab is an Islamic religious obligation clearly stipulated in the Qur’an and Hadith. This study aims to describe the practice of wearing the hijab in accordance with Islamic law and to identify the factors influencing this practice. The research method employed is a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and a literature review. The results indicate that hijab compliance with Islamic law must meet the criteria of fully covering the aurat, being loose-fitting, non-transparent, and not conspicuous. Internal factors such as religious understanding, self-awareness, and spiritual motivation, as well as external factors such as family influence, social environment, and media, also influence an individual’s decision to wear the hijab. Major challenges in hijab implementation include social stigma, cultural pressure, and a lack of education regarding Sharia-compliant hijab. Therefore, comprehensive educational and outreach efforts are needed to support the practice of wearing the hijab in accordance with Sharia.
