Abstract

Teachers’ mathematical, didactic, and technological knowledge has been a central issue for the last few decades. Therefore, this study investigates and compares prospective teachers’ mathematical, didactic, and technological knowledge referring to gender, year of study, and academic major. This study used an online survey through online questionnaires. The population was prospective elementary and mathematics teachers from a public university in Riau province, Indonesia. The questionnaires were distributed via WhatsApp, and LMS integrated in courses in the University. There were 195 prospective teachers participated in this study. A non-parametric statistical analysis was used to compare teachers’ knowledge based on gender, year of study, and academic major. The findings reveal that there were no significant differences of teachers’ mathematical, didactic, and technological knowledge based on gender, year of study, and academic major. Therefore, mathematics learning at university has no impact on prospective teachers’ self-evaluation of their knowledge.

Abstract

This study compares the syntax of the discovery learning and inquiry learning models based on the Among system. This research was a descriptive type of research and used a comparative design. The method of data collection in this research was a literature study. The literature study used is research that is in accordance with the research of researchers and the latest research. The results found that the learning model of discovery learning and inquiry learning based from the Among system was very well implemented in elementary schools. The use of these various models can be adapted to the needs of the educator. Along with the literature study, these two models can support students' abilities and create meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of group investigation based on the Among system on natural resource materials to increase fourth grade students’ creativity. This study uses a quasi-experimental method. This experimental study used two sample groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental class is a class that is given special treatment, namely the group investigation model based on the Among system, and the control class is given a conventional learning model. Student creativity is measured using a test and also observations during learning. The results showed that (1) the results of the pretest-posttest were normally distributed and homogeneous because the results of the normality and homogeneity test were > 0.05. (2) the results of hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test results obtained significance (2-tailed) is 0.040 and 0.041 where this value is < from 0.05 so Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This shows that the application of the Among system-based group investigation model affects fourth grade students’ creativity

Abstract

This present study aims to examine the effect of GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning on student mathematical achievement of coordinate system. The study applied a quasi-experimental method that included 41 fifth grade students from a private Islamic school in Pekanbaru, Riau. The students were randomized into an experimental group (n=21) that received GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning and a control group (n=20) that received traditional teaching approach. Student mathematical achievement was measured using items of coordinate system developed by the researchers, and the data gathering in this study was analyzed using nonparametric statistical analysis. The findings indicated that there was significant statistical difference in student mathematical achievement of coordinate system between the experimental and control group (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05)). The study concluded that the instruction based on GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning had a statistically significant positive effect on improving student mathematical achievement of coordinate system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated learning management at SMP Negeri 42 Pekanbaru in the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka. This curriculum was launched to address the "learning loss" due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to catch up with Indonesia's educational lag at the international level. Differentiated learning is a strategy that adjusts the learning process to the individual needs of students, taking into account their interests, readiness, and learning profiles. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach, involving observations and in-depth interviews with teachers at SMP Negeri 42 Pekanbaru. The results show that most teachers still experience difficulties in implementing differentiated learning according to the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education. The main obstacles include a lack of understanding of the principles of differentiated learning and limited resources. However, some teachers have successfully adapted this method and reported an increase in student learning motivation. The study concludes that further support from the government and ongoing training is needed to optimize the implementation of differentiated learning in schools. The implications of this study are expected to provide insights for the development of more effective educational policies about learning differentiation in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to promote primary students’ achivement in scince learning utilizing cooperative leraning model types make a match. The method is Classroom Action Research by applying cooperative learning model type make a match. The data collected in this research are observation sheet of teacher activity and student activity and learning result. The average learning outcomes of science obtained before the action was 62.33 increased to 77.67 in first cycle by percentage of 24.61%. In the second cycle increased to 88.00 with a percentage increase of 41.18%. Thus, it can beconcluded that cooperative learning model type make a match efeectively to promote primary students’ achivement in science learning.

Abstract

Many students and even teachers still cannot recognize the relevance of the model to build physical knowledge. The study of mental representations built by students in their interactions with the world, phenomena and artifacts, is an important line of research in science education. Therefore, it is not surprising that analogies play an important role inscience education, because the construction of students in mental models of abstractphenomena must be rooted in some existing or previous experiences, to interpret more complex ideas. The purpose of this study is to investigate mental models elementary school students against the phenomenon of day and night. This research is quantitativedescriptive. The research subjects were 20 students in grade six. The results showed that 20% of students had a low mental model (LMM), 45% of students had a moderate mental model (MMM), and 35% of students had a high mental model (HMM). Based on the results of the study it can be said that, (1) 20% of students cannot explain the concepts scientifically and students' understanding is at the level of symbolic representation. (2) 45% of students cannot explain the causes of a phenomenon, student understanding is at the level of macrocospic representation, (3) and 35% of students have concepts with understanding based on real-life observations with scientific concepts learned at school and students' understanding is at the level of representation of microcosms.

Abstract

This research is to determine the effect of realistic mathematical approach on students’ learning motivation. The research method is pre-experiment of one group pretest posttest design. This study was conducted with 34 fifth grade students from a public school in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The results indicate that students’ learning motivation significantly increases. Among six indicators measuring students’ learning motivation, the indicator of interesting activities in learning is the most increase, from 80.76% in pre-test to 86.40% inpost-test. The average score of pretest in form of students’ learning motivationquestionnaire before applying treatment was 90.56 while score posttest after treatment was 95,09 and the results of the research hypotheses using the comparative t-test tcount (6.997) > ttable (2.039). This means that there is an effect of applying the realistic mathematical approach to students’ learning motivation.
