Abstract

The procedure for storing medical record documents (MRDs) involves sorting the records by their medical record numbers before returning them to the medical records department and placing them in storage. This process facilitates the retrieval of required records and streamlines storage operations, thereby preventing misfiling when the documents are needed for patient care. Delays in locating MRDs on the filing racks can result from storage or placement errors, commonly referred to as misfiling. Efficient storage of medical record documents (MRDs) requires proper sorting by medical record numbers before returning them to the filing system. This process ensures quick retrieval and minimizes errors. However, delays in locating MRDs often occur due to misfiling—typically caused by improper storage or placement. This study aims to identify factors contributing to misfiling, focusing on the storage system, alignment, numbering, and human resources. This study is quantitative research with a descriptive design. The analysis used is univariant analysis. The population comprises inpatient medical records returned from the care units after patient discharge during the period of January to December 2023. The sampling method employed is non-probability sampling, specifically using accidental sampling. Among 50 inpatient MRDs stored in the filing room at Makassar City Regional General Hospital, 15 (30%) were misfiled. The factors contributing to the misfiling of medical record documents in the filing room include incompetent medical record personnel, misalignment in the filing system, the absence of tracers, and the lack of an expedition logbook. Misfiling was associated with several factors, including untrained personnel, inconsistencies in the filing alignment, absence of tracers, and the lack of a delivery logbook (previously referred to as an “expedition logbook”) used to track the movement of documents. Addressing these issues may improve filing accuracy and support patient care efficiency.

Abstract

The circulation of illegal cigarettes is a serious challenge for the state in maintaining economic stability and public welfare. Many small cigarette entrepreneurs in Indonesia are concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal cigarettes. They are dissatisfied with the performance of Customs officers, who are perceived as not being stringent enough in enforcing regulations. The impact of the extensive circulation of illegal cigarettes, particularly those without excise stamps, causes legal cigarette entrepreneurs to face difficulties in competing, resulting in a decline in their production. Although many legal cigarette entrepreneurs have paid excise to the state, the reality is that the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the market is increasing, leading to a decrease in state revenue. Illegal cigarettes, sold at lower prices, tempt consumers to choose illegal products over legal and registered ones. This situation is very detrimental and highlights the need for firm and consistent actions from Customs officers. The Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS) of Customs and Excise play a crucial role in uncovering and taking action against such circulation within their jurisdiction. This study analyzes the efforts of the PPNS of Customs and Excise in uncovering illegal cigarettes at the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of East Java I through a juridical-empirical approach. The research methodology involves document study, interviews, and direct observation. The results show measures such as increased supervision, socialization, inter-agency cooperation, and enforcement. Constraints include a lack of information regarding perpetrators and online circulation patterns. It is recommended that the PPNS enhance coordination, tracking systems, and regulations, as well as increase public awareness about the dangers of illegal cigarettes. These measures are expected to improve the effectiveness in handling the circulation of illegal cigarettes.

Abstract

Obesity is closely related to a decrease in brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, which will pose a risk for metabolic disorders. Therefore, this study aims to prove the effect of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on increasing BDNF expression in obese women. A total of sixteen obese women were selected based on predetermined criteria and were divided into 2 groups, namely the aerobic exercise group (AE) and the control group (CN). Aerobic exercise was carried out by running on a treadmill at moderate intensity (60-70 HRmax) for 40 minutes/session with a frequency of 5x/week for 2 weeks. Blood samples were taken twice before and after exercise intervention to see BDNF expression using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA-kit) method. The results of the analysis showed differences in increase between the control group (1816.66 ± 689.48 vs. 1822.86 ± 467.87 pg/mL; p = 0.974) and the intervention group (2173.81 ± 705.89 vs. 3635.01 ± 699.71 pg/mL; p = 0.013). This shows that moderate-intensity aerobic exercise carried out for 2 weeks has proven effective in increasing BDNF expression in obese women.

Abstract

Obesity is associated with increased betatrophin levels, which can lead to fat metabolism disorders. Increased levels of betatrophin may inhibit the performance of the lipoprotein lipase (LPL) enzyme, making it difficult for triglycerides (TG) in the blood to be converted into energy and causing excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue. Physical exercise has been reported to increase energy expenditure in obesity. This study aims to determine changes in betatrophin in obese women after moderate-intensity aerobic exercise. A total of twenty obese women aged 20-30 years took part in the study. The participants were administered into two groups: control (K1) and moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (K2). Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (60-70% HRmax) was performed five times a week for two weeks. Pretest and posttest betatrophin levels were measured using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) Kit method. Data were analyzed using a paired samples t-test with a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. The results showed the average pretest and posttest betatrophin levels in K1 (0.44±0.14 vs 0.44±0.13 ng/mL; p=0.894), and K2 (0.41±0.05 vs 0.31±0.03 ng/mL; p=0.000). According to the study's findings, moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (60-70% HRmax) performed five times per week for two weeks positively impacted alterations in betatrophin levels in obese women.

Abstract

Credentials as an effort to maintain nurse competency and become the basis for granting clinical authority to nurses have not been implemented well. Implementation of processes for achieving goals varies across institutions. This research aims to identify the relationship between credentialing methods and the outcomes of the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) by investigating differences in OPPE scores based on years of experience. This is a quantitative research study with a descriptive correlational and comparative approach, involving 66 respondents who meet the criteria: Nurse PK I; less than 5 years of experience. Data analysis was conducted using Rank Spearman correlation and Kruskal-Wallis tests. The credentialing test method used a portfolio, interview, written test, and practical examination. The research results indicate that 48.48% of credentialing is done using these four methods. The majority of OPPE scores are rated as Good, accounting for 66.67%. The longer a nurse works, the better their performance rating. The Spearman rank test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.353 with p= 0.004 (p<0.05), and the Kruskal-Wallis test obtained a Kruskal-Wallis value of 41.289 with p=0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between credentialing methods and OPPE scores. The more credentialing methods used, the better the OPPE scores.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effect of using eggshell waste or eggshell extract as organic calcium source in feed on the physiological conditions and intestines of broilers. A total of 392 one-day-old chicks were randomly distributed into four groups (10 birds each group), CONT (control diet con taining 1% limestone as an inorganic calcium source), EGFL (feed containing 1% eggshell powder as an organic calcium source), EEG1 (feed containing 1% eggshell extracted with Averrhoa bilimbi L. fruit filtrate as an organic calcium source), and EEG05 (feed containing 0.5% eggshell extracted using A. bilimbi L. fruit filtrate). Body weight and feed intake were recorded weekly, whereas blood, intesti nal content, and small intestinal segments were collected at day 35. Our results showed that during days 8-35, weight gain and feed consumption were lower (P<0.05) in EEG05 than in CONT and EGFL. Thymus relative weight tended (P=0.08) to be lower in EEG05 than in CONT, and gizzard was lower (P<0.05) in EGFL than in CONT and EEG05. Serum total triglyceride was significantly higher in CONT than in other groups. Moreover, serum high-density lipoprotein was higher in EEG1 and EE G05 than in CONT (P<0.05). furthermore, serum albumin were higher (P<0.05) in EEG1 than in CONT, EGFL and EEG05. Additionally, serum uric acid was higher (P<0.05) in EEG1 than in EGFL and EEG05. Among the groups, SGPT levels were lowest (P<0.05) in EEG05 birds. While there was no effect (P>0.05) of treatments on coliform and lactic acid bacteria in the ileum and caecum, jejunal crypt depth tended (P=0.09) to be lower in EEG1 and EEG05 than in CONT and EGFL broilers. Con clusively, using 1% eggshell powder or eggshell extract in feed as the substitute for limestone had no detrimental effect on broiler chickens’ growth, physiological status and intestinal condition. Hence, eggshell powder or eggshell extracted with A. bilimbi L. fruit filtrate can be used as an organic calcium source to replace limestone.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of Kleinhovia hospita L. extract (KE) on growth performance, intestinal condition and antioxidative status of broilers raised in high stocking density pens. A total of 370-day-old broiler chicks were randomly grouped into five groups with five replicates. The groups were T0 (chicks raised in normal density, 10 birds/m2; as a negative control), KE0 (chicks raised in high density, 16 birds/m2, without KE supplementation; as a positive control), KE0.25, KE0.5 and KE1 (chicks raised in high density with KE supplementation of 2.5, 5 and 10 g/kg, respectively). Based on the completely randomized design, the data were treated. Results showed that KE1 chicks had the highest (p<0.05) body weight (BW) at day 21 and 28. The T0, KE0 and KE2.5 chicks consumed more (p<0.05) feed than the other treatment groups. The KE0.25, KE0.5 and KE1 showed lower (p<0.05) FCR than the KE0 group. The KE0 chicks showed lower (p<0.05) carcass yield than the other groups. The KE0 had the highest (p<0.05) heart relative weight of all groups. The KE1 had the highest (p<0.05) small intestinal weight, cecum, colon and abdominal fat of any treatment group. Among the groups, crypt depth of the duodenum in KE0 was the lowest (p<0.05). There was no substantial effect of the treatments on the counts of coliform and lactic acid bacteria in the ileum of broilers. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels in KE0.5 and KE1 were higher (p<0.05) than those in T0, KE0 and KE0.25 groups. In conclusion, stocking in high density pens negatively af-fected the carcass yield of broiler chickens. Dietary KE supplementation was beneficial in improving FCR and antioxidant status of broiler chickens.
