Abstract

Abstract

Science learning in schools tends to be theoretical and less related to real contexts, so students have difficulty understanding the application of concepts in everyday life. One of the causes is the lack of teaching materials that integrate local wisdom. This study aims to examine the concepts of science in the local wisdom of making Batik Besurek to be developed as ethnoscience content in integrated science e-books and to determine the level of validity and student response to the product. The method used is research and development (R&D), according to Borg and Gall (1983), using the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER) approach. Data were obtained through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The results of the study showed that the process of making Batik Besurek contains the concepts of temperature and heat, expansion, changes in the state of matter, physical changes, heat transfer, and Black's principle, which can be integrated into the content of the Integrated Science Electronic Book. The developed electronic book obtained a very high level of validity with an average V index of 0.86 and a percent agreement of 89.27%. The students' response to the book was also excellent, with an average percentage of 89.42%. Abstract

The phenomenon of quiet quitting has increasingly emerged in various workplaces, particularly among young employees. Although employees continue to perform their formal job duties, their emotional engagement with work tends to decline. This condition is closely associated with the increasing digital workload, such as continuous notifications, unlimited online meetings, and the blurring boundaries between work and personal life. This study aims to examine the effect of digital workload on quiet quitting and to analyze the moderating role of perceived organizational support in this relationship. This study employed a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 250 employees aged 20–40 years working in sectors with a high dependence on digital technology. Data were collected through an online questionnaire measuring digital workload, quiet quitting, and perceived organizational support. The results indicate that digital workload has a positive and significant effect on quiet quitting. Furthermore, perceived organizational support has a negative effect on quiet quitting and is proven to moderate the relationship between digital workload and quiet quitting, thereby mitigating the negative impact of digital workload on employee engagement. These findings highlight the important role of perceived organizational support in maintaining employee engagement under high digital work pressure and in preventing the escalation of quiet quitting.

Abstract

Scientific argumentation is a key skill and an important variable that plays a central role in biology learning, which in practice has not been well trained. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of debate activities supported by artificial intelligence as a tool to improve students' scientific argumentation skills. This study adopts a quantitative descriptive method by integrating a quasi-experimental approach. The research sample consists of 72 tenth-grade students from State High School 7 Surakarta, divided into experimental and control groups. A scientific argumentation test instrument in the form of essay questions was used to analyze the final synergistic effect of the intervention provided. The research findings indicate that there are significant differences between the control and experimental groups in certain elements, both in terms of argumentation structure criteria (Claims and Data) and argumentation quality criteria (Organization, Sufficiency, and Clarity) with a p-value 0.05, indicating that AI-supported debates only influence initial elements, thus concluding that they are not yet effective across all elements of scientific argumentation skills. This highlights the need for sufficient time and more targeted instruction to maximize the development of students' scientific argumentation skills.

Abstract

The objectives of the present research were to assess the hepatoprotective activities of milkfish oil (MFO) and silymarin (SL) against rifampicin (RFP) and isoniazid (INH) induced hepatotoxicity. Rats were divided into seven groups: normal control, negative control (INH+RFP), silymarin alone (50 mg/kg BW/day), low-dose MFO (MFO-L), high-dose MFO (MFO-H), low-dose combination (SL+MFO-L), and high-dose combination (SL+MFO-H). Rats receiving RFP and INH showed raised liver enzymes and typical signs of hepatotoxicity. Analyzed parameters comprised proinflammatory mediators (tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6), antioxidant markers (catalase, glutathione, malondialdehyde, and superoxide dismutase), cytochrome P450, total protein, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), albumin and bilirubin. Treatment with a combination of MFO plus SL remarkably decreased hepatic enzyme activities, oxidative stress and inflammation, and suggested a prevention effect against the drug-induce liver injury.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a gamification-based learning application in improving elementary school students' understanding and awareness of bullying prevention Methodology: A quantitative method using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest and posttest design was used. The study included 49 fifth-grade students from an elementary school in Malang. Data was gathered through pretest and posttest tools consisting of 25 questions. The pretest was administered before the intervention and the posttest after. Data analysis used IBM SPSS Statistics version 26, including normality tests, paired sample t-tests, and N-gain analysis to assess statistical significance and effect size. Main Findings: The results indicate that there was a significant improvement in students' understanding following the intervention. The average pretest score was 52.33, rising to 87.51 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test produced a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating strong effectiveness. Furthermore, the N-gain analysis yielded a value of 0.71 indicated high effectiveness. Therefore, the gamification-based application serves as a valuable educational tool for increasing bullying prevention awareness in elementary schools. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides the first empirical evidence for the effectiveness of a gamification-based mobile application specifically designed to teach bullying prevention to elementary school students. It bridges a critical research gap by quantitatively validating how tailored game mechanics (combines quizzes, mini-games, and role-playing scenarios) enhance comprehension of bullying dynamics and addressing the absence of methodologically rigorous evaluations in context-specific gamified learning for child safety education.
