Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada pembelajaran matematika materi kaidah pencacahan di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Tangerang Selatan. Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus ini menggunakan metode observasi non partisipatif dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum guru telah menerapkan langkah-langkah PBL sesuai dengan sintaks. Siswa terlibat aktif dalam mengerjakan masalah pada LKS baik secara mandiri maupun berkolaborasi dalam kelompok. Guru berperan sebagai fasilitator dengan memberikan scaffolding kepada siswa. Namun demikian, integrasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran masih kurang. Rekomendasi untuk perbaikan mencakup pelatihan penerapan PBL bagi guru, integrasi teknologi pembelajaran, dan kerjasama dengan peneliti pendidikan. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas PBL dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan keterampilan abad 21 siswa.

Abstract

This study investigated the multidimensional landscape of students' perceptions of mathematics learning using principal component analysis (PCA). Data were collected from 102 high school students (grades 9-12, mean age 16.2 years) in Indonesia. The survey, adapted from validated scales including the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitudes Scales and the Attitudes Towards Mathematics Inventory, assessed various aspects of mathematics learning perceptions. Analysis revealed fifteen initial components that were subsequently consolidated into two major factors. The first factor encompassed variables related to external and environmental aspects: learning interest, parental support, motivation, difficulties, resources, school facilities, approaches, classrooms, materials, and methods. The second factor comprised internal and cognitive elements: conceptual understanding, self-confidence, learning models, anxiety, and techniques. The PCA results highlight the complex interplay between cognitive, affective, and contextual factors in mathematics learning. The findings suggest that interventions should adopt a holistic approach, addressing both environmental and cognitive dimensions. This research contributes to educational practice by identifying key areas for targeted intervention while demonstrating the effectiveness of PCA in understanding complex educational phenomena. Future studies could explore these factors' generalizability across different educational contexts and their longitudinal evolution.

Abstract

Alat bantu digital diperlukan dalam pembelajaran geometri karena mampu memberikan visualisasi yang lebih konkret terhadap konsep-konsep abstrak, meningkatkan pemahaman siswa, serta mendukung proses pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan efektif. Teknologi ini memungkinkan siswa untuk mengeksplorasi konsep geometris secara dinamis dan mendalam melalui simulasi, animasi, atau perangkat lunak khusus. Selain itu, alat bantu digital dapat membantu guru menyampaikan materi dengan cara yang lebih menarik, fleksibel, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Metode penelitian yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah metode SLR (Systematic Literature Review). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis konten pada sejumlah artikel yang telah diterbitkan dalam jurnal terindeks Scopus dengan quartile Q1- Q4 sejak tahun 2013 hingga 2023, dengan alat bantu digital pengajaran dan pembelajaran geometri sebagai fokus utama penelitian. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam delapan tahun terakhir, jumlah publikasi yang berfokus pada alat bantu digital telah meningkat. Di antara publikasi-publikasi tersebut, penelitian yang paling dominan adalah penelitian kualititatif. Metode analisis data yang paling sering digunakan case study. Berdasarkan hasil ini, rekomendasi yang dapat disampaikan adalah pengembangan lebih lanjut terhadap alat bantu digital untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran geometri, termasuk eksplorasi metode pembelajaran dan pengajaran baru khususnya matematika dan evaluasi efektivitasnya dalam berbagai konteks pendidikan.

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membahas mengenai persepsi guru dan siswa mengenai etnomatematika. Penelitian etnomatematika di Indonesia telah menghasilkan dua pendekatan yang saling melengkapi, yaitu sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran dan sebagai kerangka kerja penelitian. Pendekatan pembelajaran etnomatematika bertujuan untuk memperkaya pemahaman siswa akan konsep-konsep matematis melalui integrasi dengan unsur-unsur budaya lokal, sementara pendekatan penelitian etnomatematika berupaya mengungkap dan mendeskripsikan manifestasi konsep-konsep matematis dalam berbagai praktik budaya. Studi-studi etnomatematika seringkali mengungkap adanya penggunaan konsep matematis yang implisit dalam aktivitas sehari-hari masyarakat, sehingga berkontribusi pada pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif tentang bagaimana pengetahuan matematis dibangun dan diwariskan secara lintas generasi dalam suatu budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi konsep etnomatematika pada guru dan siswa SMP di Kota Merauke. Melalui analisis data yang diperoleh dari kajian pustaka, angket, dan wawancara mendalam, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa potensi pengembangan etnomatematika di wilayah tersebut masih terbuka lebar. Namun demikian, kajian lebih lanjut masih diperlukan untuk menggali potensi dan tantangan dalam pengembangan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih kontekstual.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of ethnomathematics in geometry, in addition to the challenges and benefits of this approach. This study also emphasizes the dearth of bibliometric studies in this area and provides a Scopus-based bibliometric analysis of research on geometry in ethnomathematics. This study examines the evolution of research publications, the most cited articles, the most prolific writers, and current trends in research. This paper uses bibliometric analysis using Rstudio Biblioshiny as its methodology. The study discovered that studying geometry from an ethnomathematics perspective provides benefits such as enhancing learning interaction activities and conceptual comprehension. However, the lack of understanding about the ethnomathematics approach and how to incorporate it into teaching geometry, the teacher's lack of knowledge about geometry content knowledge, and the teacher's aversion to change are impediments to the use of this technique. Researchers that desire to discover research gaps for future studies are anticipated to find this study's findings valuable.

Abstract

In the last ten years, there has been considerable growth in empirical studies examining the effects of digital games on mathematics learning and computational thinking (CT). However, a review of the existing literature indicates that the outcomes of digital game-enhanced math instruction on students' CT skills have yielded inconsistent results. This research intends to evaluate how effective digital game-supported mathematics education is in developing students' CT abilities, while taking into account various factors such as educational level, duration of the intervention, learning context, game developer, and type of game. A meta-analytic review was conducted, analyzing 15 pertinent studies published between 2011 and 2023, which produced 21 effect sizes and included a total of 8,911 students. Statistical analyses, including the Q Cochrane test, publication bias assessment, Z test, and sensitivity analyses, were performed using CMA software to scrutinize the data. The results indicated a statistically significant but modest positive effect (g = 0.344; p < 0.05) of digital game-supported math education on students' CT skills. Several factors, including the length of the intervention, the software developer, and the type of game, significantly impacted CT outcomes, whereas other factors, such as educational level and learning environment, did not show a significant influence. These findings suggest that digital game-supported mathematics instruction can be an effective technological approach to enhance students' computational thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study investigates Blaise Pascal's contribution to mathematics, focusing on the Mystic Hexagon Theorem, and evaluates the understanding of Mathematics Education students at Padang State University (Class of 2021). A qualitative approach was employed, combining a systematic literature review and semi-structured interviews with 10 students selected from five classes. Student responses were analyzed and categorized into four levels: Expert, Medium, Low, and Unknowing. The findings reveal that only two students could successfully prove Pascal's Mystic Hexagon Theorem with clear and logical steps. At the same time, the remaining participants struggled to identify key concepts or complete the solution process. This outcome indicates students' significant lack of understanding of historical mathematical theories, highlighting an educational gap in integrating historical contexts into modern curricula. The study implies that incorporating historical mathematical theories, such as Pascal's contributions, into classroom instruction can improve students' problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and geometric reasoning. Additionally, exposure to mathematical history fosters deeper appreciation and motivation, connecting abstract concepts to their historical evolution. Bridging this gap through history-based learning strategies can make mathematics more engaging and meaningful, enabling students to develop more substantial foundational knowledge and practical skills.

Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) has been widely applied as a learning method in mathematics education. This meta-analysis study was conducted to summarize the evidence on the effectiveness of PBL on students' comprehension abilities. An associated database was searched for studies that met the inclusion criteria. The estimation method used a random-effect model with a 95% confidence interval (CI). The study analyzed 35 effect sizes from 22 primary studies published between 2011 and 2020, and for a total of 1993, students were included. The Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) program was used to assist the analysis. As a result of the study, the overall effect size was 0.790 (moderate effect) with a standard error of 0.181. Analysis of the study characteristics revealed that the application of PBL was more effective in the conditions of the sample size set by 1 - 30 students; lower level of education, and combined with the use of mathematics learning software. These findings become a consideration for mathematics education practitioners for the implementation of PBL in the future.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa berdasarkan gaya kognitif reflektif. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu tiga siswa kelas X IPA di salah satu SMA di Kota Palembang. Instrumen tes untuk mengetahui gaya kognitif siswa menggunakan Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT) yang dikembangkan oleh Warli (2010) berdasarkan instrumen MFFT yang dibuat oleh Jerome Kagan (1965). Instrumen tes kemampuan literasi matematis siswa terdiri dari tiga butir soal uraian dengan satu soal memuat satu indikator. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi matematis siswa ditinjau berdasarkan gaya kognitif reflektif memiliki kemampuan literasi matematis yang tergolong sedang. Hal ini dikarenakan terdapat ada satu siswa yang mendapatkan persentase diatas rata-rata di semua indikator kemampuan literasi matematis (formulate, employ, dan interpret). Kemudian satu siswa yang menguasai dua indikator literasi matematis yaitu indikator formulate dan interpret, yang artinya siswa tersebut memiliki kemampuan untuk merumuskan situasi matematis dan menafsirkan serta mengevaluasi solusi, hasil, atau kesimpulan matematika (formulate) dan menginterpretasikannya dalam bentuk kontekstual pada masalah kehidupan nyata (interpret). Sisanya satu siswa hanya memiliki kemampuan untuk menginterpretasikan dalam bentuk kontekstual pada masalah kehidupan nyata (interpret).Kata Kunci: Employ; Formulate; Interpret; Kemampuan Literasi Matematis; Reflektif; AbstractThis study aims to describe students' mathematical literacy skills based on reflective cognitive style. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were three students of class X IPA at a high school in Palembang City. The test instrument to determine students' cognitive styles uses the Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT) developed by Warli (2010) based on the MFFT instrument created by Jerome Kagan (1965). The instrument for testing students' mathematical literacy skills consisted of three descriptive questions with one item containing one indicator. The results show that students' mathematical literacy abilities reviewed based on the reflective cognitive style have moderate mathematical literacy abilities. This is because there is one student who gets a percentage above the average in all indicators of mathematical literacy skills (formulate, employ, and interpret). Then one student who masters two indicators of mathematical literacy, namely formulate and interpret indicators, which means that these students have the ability to formulate mathematical situations and interpret and evaluate solutions, results, or mathematical conclusions (formulate) and interpret them in contextual form on real life problems (interpret ). Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that combines real and virtual elements to create a hybrid experience. Research has shown that AR can improve spatial abilities, assist learning, and increase motivation in students. It has also been demonstrated to facilitate collaborative learning and the evolution of learning in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and trends of AR research in mathematics education over the past 20 years. AR has been studied extensively and has many potentials uses in education and learning, but it may be used more frequently in certain situations or for specific goals. The study used Scopus and PRISMA to conduct a systematic review of articles and Biblioshiny software for bibliometric analysis, including co-citation and co-author analysis. The research on augmented reality in mathematics education has grown steadily over the past 20 years and has had a significant impact, with an average of 13.74 citations per document.
