Abstract

This research is a systematic literature review (SLR) research that focuses on the implementation of the CPA approach in mathematics education. This study aims to look at a more in-depth and comprehensive view of the implementation of the CPA approach in mathematics education in terms of the year of research and level of education. There were 20 research articles collected and analyzed based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. During the period 2018 to 2022 it was found that the implementation of the CPA approach to mathematics learning outcomes, students' mathematical abilities, students' affective abilities was mostly carried out at the elementary level. The implementation of the CPA approach at the junior high school level has been carried out, but it is still small. At the high school level, at least it was carried out, only 2 articles were found that used high school students as subjects. Overall the CPA approach improves students' learning outcomes in mathematics, mathematics ability, and students' affective abilities at every level of education.

Abstract

This study aims to test whether students' mathematics achievement affects their Intelligence Quotient levels based on the correlation and regression. The sample of the study consisted of 81 new students from one Madrasah Aliyah in Surakarta City. The learning achievement data and IQ data were obtained from school documents. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics covering prerequisite tests in the form of normality tests and linearity tests, classical assumption tests in the form of multicollinearity tests and heteroscedasticity tests, and hypothesis tests in the form of simple regression analysis. The results showed that the mean score of students' mathematics achievement was 45.78 with the smallest score of 8 and the highest score of 92. While the mean score of student's IQ was 112.43 with the lowest score of 100 and the highest score of 126. The test results showed that students' mathematics achievement affected their IQ level with the regression equation of Y=107.739+0.103X indicating that for every 1% addition of math achievement scores, the IQ score will increase by 0.103. Therefore, it can be said that when students' mathematics achievement increases, their IQ will also increase. The influence of students' mathematics achievement on IQ is 16% with a correlation value of 0.4.

Abstract

Learning media is a tool that can assist the process of transferring knowledge from teacher to student so that learning is more effective. This literature study provides a comprehensive study of the benefits and role of instructional media in learning mathematics. This literature systematics uses Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) as a research approach. The PRISMA stages include: identification, screening, eligibility, and include. Acquisition of 113 articles sourced from Scopus, ERIC, and Proquest databases taken in the last decade. Through PRISMA, 12 review articles were obtained, which became data to answer research questions. The results showed that Indonesia has the most research areas, 9 out of 12 studies. SMA level has the most application of instructional media from the research collected. Various types of media are used, and these various types of media result in the development of various mathematical materials through learning media. Some of the material developed includes geometry (in seven studies), trigonometry (in two studies), as well as material on functions, algebra, and quadratic equations (each in one study). Learning media can also develop mathematical cognitive abilities, including mathematical problem-solving, mathematical understanding, mathematical communication, critical mathematical thinking, mathematical representation, mathematical reasoning, and spatial abilities. In addition, affective abilities can also be developed, such as learning independence (in two studies), self-confidence, creativity, and learning concentration.

Abstract

Through a bibliometric approach, this study aims to analyze trends, main focuses, and potential future research themes related to critical and creative thinking skills in mathematics learning at the elementary school level. The data were obtained from the Scopus database covering the years 1997–2025 with the search keywords "critical thinking" OR "creative thinking" AND math* AND "elementary school", resulting in 125 documents analyzed using Biblioshiny R and VOSviewer software. The analysis results show that publications on this topic have increased significantly since 2016, with Indonesia having the highest number of publications. However, the United States and Taiwan dominate in terms of citation impact. Four main clusters were identified: innovative learning approaches (including STEM and problem-based learning), elementary education contexts, curriculum development and engineering education, and strengthening critical thinking skills through geometry and problem solving. Bibliometric visualization also shows that topics such as "creative thinking", "teaching and learning", and "educational computing" are growing and promising areas for further research. This study recommends integrating interdisciplinary and technological approaches in curriculum development and the need for increased international collaboration to strengthen research impact. These findings provide an important contribution to mapping the scientific landscape and the direction of developing mathematics learning that fosters higher-order thinking skills from an elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of relational comprehension skills in students reviewed from the level of self-esteem. This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study are 9 grade XI students in one of the high schools in Bandung Regency. Of the nine students, 3 students each came from the student group with high self-esteem, moderate self-esteem, and low self-esteem. The results of this study show that students with a high level of self-esteem are able to apply a method or procedure in solving mathematical problems and use methods or procedures to solve a new problem. Students with a moderate level of self-esteem are able to know concepts that can be applied in solving a mathematical problem, apply a method or procedure in solving a mathematical problem, and use a method or procedure to solve a new problem. Meanwhile, students with low self-esteem levels are able to use methods or working procedures to solve a new problem.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ levels of metacognitive reflection and their written test performance in mathematics learning, as well as to analyze the relationship between the two. The study employed a mixed-method approach with a descriptive–correlational design involving 24 seventh-grade junior high school students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 10-item metacognitive reflection questionnaire (4-point Likert scale) and a written mathematics test consisting of two open-ended questions. The questionnaire demonstrated acceptable reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.768). Descriptive analysis indicated that most students were categorized at moderate to high levels of metacognitive reflection. However, Pearson correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between metacognitive reflection and written test performance (r = −0.152, p = 0.479). These findings suggest that students reported metacognitive reflection does not necessarily correspond to their performance on written mathematical tasks. The results highlight the need for further investigation using multiple data sources to better understand the relationship between metacognitive reflection and mathematical performance. Keywords: Metacognitive Reflection, Written Test, Mathematics Learning, Academic Performance, Awareness

Abstract

This study aims to describe and evaluate the effects of game-based mathematics learning. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is used as a method in this research by collecting primary studies through checking the Google Scholar database, Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) from 2013 to 2022 with the keywords "games and learning mathematics" or "games and mathematics education", resulting in 25 relevant primary studies with inclusion criteria. The analysis technique used for the articles or primary studies that have been collected is that each primary study is recorded, then classified by title and year of study. Furthermore, each of the articles included in this study was analyzed to obtain the findings and discussion required to draw conclusions from this SLR study. It shows several results from the 25 articles used as material for the analysis of game-based mathematics learning, namely: 1) There are two types of games that are applied in the process of learning mathematics, namely traditional games, and modern games. 2) In general, the influence of the application of games, both traditional and modern, on learning mathematics is to improve the quality of learning with better indicators of teacher skills and student activity. From the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that the application of games in the process of learning mathematics is effective, because it affects the quality of learning mathematics in schools, especially by increasing student competence. The findings of this study also contribute to providing information related to the trend of game-based mathematics learning in Indonesia, which is expected to become recommendations and ideas for further research.

Abstract

One of the psychological aspects of students that encourage students' mathematical representation ability is self-confidence. The mathematical representation ability of each student is not the same, because of the student's ability to receive and process the information that the teacher has given during the lesson. Thus, the cognitive style also affects the ability of mathematical representation. This article is a systematic literature review (SLR) of 25 studies published until November 2022 with the help of the Publish or Perish (PoP) application with the Google Scholar database. This article aims to investigate: (a) the characteristics of the period, index, research approach, subject matter, and demographics of the participants in the identified articles, (b) learning methods that can improve students' mathematical representation and self-confidence abilities, and (c) the most frequently used cognitive style type. The results of research with SLR show that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model is effective and able to develop students' mathematical representation skills, and student self-confidence. Mathematical representation ability studies based on cognitive style mostly use Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI) types, and rarely use spatial and visualizer-verbalizer types. The results of this SLR can be useful for other researchers who are interested in researching this topic in the form of research gaps that can be done for the next research.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to examine existing studies related to mathematical reasoning skills based on gender differences using Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The following studies identify reasoning abilities based on gender differences. The review was carried out by carrying out several stages, namely the process of identification, screening, feasibility, inclusion, and data analysis on two livelihood machines, namely SCOPUS and ERIC. In reporting this study, the guidelines used were PRISMA guidelines. The data used was sorted by the specified criteria and this resulted in a total of 8 articles. Our findings identify that the study was conducted in three places: Indonesia, Sweden, and Turkey. Based on the findings of the study using three research designs, namely qualitative, mixed method, and quasi-experimental. The topics of the material used in this study are topics of geometry, algebra, and other branches of mathematics. The SLR also includes characteristics of reasoning abilities found by gender as well as the distribution of studies in terms of trends and countries.

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety can be found at all levels of education, from elementary school to college students. This study aims to conduct a literature review on mathematics anxiety in mathematics learning. The research method chosen in this study is the Systematic Literature Review. Data was collected by documenting all articles with similar research in this research report. The articles used in this study were 98 articles published from 2014–2022. The research was conducted at all levels of education. Based on the research results, there were 98 relevant articles published in 2014-2022 regarding mathematics anxiety in mathematics learning. It was noted that articles related to mathematical abilities, including soft and hard skills, dominated the number of articles. The articles that were collected mainly focused on research at the junior high school level, and researchers tend to prefer using quantitative research methods.
