Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the existing facility layout at Tandi’s Bakery and to propose a more efficient arrangement using a systematic approach based on the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), Activity Relationship Worksheet (ARW), Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD), and Total Closeness Rating (TCR). The analysis reveals that the current layout is suboptimal, characterized by inappropriate placement of connecting doors, insufficient proximity between interdependent facilities, and a toilet location that is not aligned with the office area. These issues hinder workflow, increase material handling distances, and reduce overall operational efficiency. By evaluating the interrelationships among activities and determining priority levels of facility proximity, this study proposes an improved layout that includes relocating the toilet, reorganizing connecting doors, and restructuring production spaces according to process linkages. The proposed layout is expected to enhance workflow continuity, improve hygiene conditions, and support greater productivity within Tandi’s Bakery.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to strengthen the halal value chain of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Hagu Selatan Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City through knowledge transfer based on the Indonesian halal value chain model. MSMEs play a vital role in regional economic development, yet many still face challenges in understanding halal–thayyiban principles, fulfilling certification requirements, managing production processes, and accessing Islamic financing. Limited adoption of digitalization also reduces their competitiveness in the rapidly growing halal industry. The program applies a participatory approach by involving universities, village authorities, and MSMEs. Key activities include needs assessment, training on halal value chain concepts, technical assistance for halal certification documents, workshops on digital business practices, and business clinics on Islamic financing. A Halal Value Chain Learning Circle is also established to support continuous collaboration and knowledge sharing. The program is expected to enhance MSME capacity, improve product quality, expand market access, and contribute to a sustainable halal ecosystem in Aceh.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology and the evolving demands of the global workforce have underscored the importance of integrating 21st-century skills into education. Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education (MIPA) plays a pivotal role in developing the technical, cognitive, and interpersonal skills essential for students to thrive in a knowledge-driven economy. This systematic review aims to explore the integration of innovative learning methods to foster critical 21st-century competencies, such as digital literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity, within MIPA education. A comprehensive analysis of peer-reviewed studies published between 2018 and 2025 was conducted to identify key pedagogical approaches that effectively enhance these skills. Methods such as Project-Based Learning (PBL), Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), and Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) were identified as prominent strategies for promoting student engagement and developing transversal skills alongside domain-specific knowledge. Despite the promising outcomes, the review also highlights challenges related to curriculum integration, teacher preparedness, and resource allocation. It is concluded that a holistic approach, involving curriculum reforms, continuous professional development for educators, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, is essential to successfully embed 21st-century skills within MIPA education. This review provides valuable insights into the role of contemporary learning methods in shaping future-ready students equipped with the competencies needed to navigate an increasingly complex and technology-driven world.
