Abstract

ABSTRACT Mathematics education plays a strategic role in developing students’ critical thinking skills as an essential component of 21st-century competencies; however, in practice, these skills have not been optimally developed. Mathematics learning, particularly algebraic topics such as polynomials, requires students to analyze information, evaluate solution strategies, and draw logical conclusions. This study aims to analyze students’ critical thinking skills in mathematical problem solving on polynomial material in Grade XI of SMA Negeri 6 Baubau. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects were Grade XI students selected purposively during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through written tests designed based on indicators of mathematical critical thinking skills and supported by documentation of students’ work. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the majority of students are in the moderate category of critical thinking ability, accounting for 70% of the participants, while the high category remains relatively low and the low category still requires special attention. In terms of indicators, students demonstrated adequate achievement in interpretation; however, low achievement was found in analysis, evaluation, and inference. These findings indicate that students have not been consistent in organizing information, critically evaluating solution strategies, and drawing logical conclusions when solving polynomial problems. It can be concluded that students’ mathematical critical thinking skills are not yet optimal, highlighting the need for learning strategies that emphasize problem-solving activities and the development of higher-order thinking skills in algebra instruction.

Abstract

Background: Halal tourism has expanded rapidly, often adopting the narrative of "sustainable economics" as part of its value proposition. However, the dominant global sustainability paradigm—including that implicit in many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) frameworks—is fundamentally anthropocentric, prioritizing human economic and social interests above all else. A conceptual paradox arises when this anthropocentric framework is applied to "halal" ecosystems, which are essentially theocentric, positioning humanity as khalifah (steward), not owner, of nature. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to deconstruct the "anthropocentric sustainability" concept that has permeated halal tourism models. This research aims to provide a post-anthropocentric critique of how contemporary halal tourism ecosystems operate, highlighting the tensions between human-centric sustainability rhetoric and the imperatives of Maqashid al-Shariah (particularly Hifz al-Bi'ah or environmental protection). Method : This study  uses a library research utilizing a critical conceptual analysis approach. This study systematically reviews, analyzes, and synthesizes interdisciplinary literature across three domains: (1) critical sustainability theory and anthropocentrism, (2) tourism economics, and (3) Islamic economic philosophy and halal tourism.. Result : Findings (Arguments) indicate that the adoption of anthropocentric sustainability models often results in "greenwashing" or "halal-washing," where nature remains exploited as a "resource" for human profit, contradicting the principle of amanah. As an alternative, this paper proposes a shift towards a post-anthropocentric (theocentric) framework for halal tourism, one that authentically integrates ecological preservation as a spiritual and ethical objective, not merely an economic instrument. This research contributes to a reconceptualization of halal tourism that moves beyond anthropocentrism toward a holistic and theologically authentic sustainability model

Abstract

The Massuro Baca tradition is one of the cultural practices of the Makassar Bugis community which is still preserved to this day and has a close relationship with Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the values of Islamic education contained in the Massuro Baca tradition in the Tamarambu Environment, Bontoa Village, Mandai District, Maros Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with field research methods. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, and its validity was tested through triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that the Massuro Baca tradition contains Islamic educational values which include the values of faith, worship, and morals. These values are reflected in the practice of prayer, tawassul, almsgiving, gratitude, sima'an Al-Qur'an, friendship, and helping. These findings confirm that the Massuro Baca tradition functions as a non-formal Islamic educational medium that plays a role in shaping religious character, strengthening social solidarity, and maintaining harmony between Islamic teachings and local wisdom of the community.

Abstract

This community-based research aims to implement and evaluate a simple automatic sheep waste disposal system at Ratu Domba Indonesia, Tamansari Village, Wuluhan District, Jember Regency. The program was carried out starting on June 1, 2025, using a sheepfold measuring 4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width, housing seven crossbred sheep aged five to six months. The implementation method included direct installation, resource management, and periodic evaluation to assess cleanliness, efficiency, and ease of waste handling. The results indicate that the installation effectively maintained a dry and clean condition beneath the sheepfold throughout all evaluation stages. Minor technical adjustments, such as adding wire supports to prevent solid waste spillage, were required during the implementation period but did not reduce the system’s overall performance. Farmers reported reduced cleaning time and improved convenience in managing both feces and urine. The findings demonstrate that a simple and low-cost technological innovation can significantly improve sanitation and operational efficiency in small-scale sheep farming. This innovation has the potential to be replicated and further developed to support sustainable livestock waste management in rural farming systems.

Abstract

The management of zakat, infaq, and alms (ZIS) by the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) plays an important role in regional socio-economic development, but its implementation often faces structural and administrative challenges. This study analyzes the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 3 of 2014 by the Bukittinggi City Government in the collection of ZIS for ASN. The method used is qualitative with a case study at BAZNAS Bukittinggi City, involving BAZNAS administrators, regional officials, and ASN as informants. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and document analysis, such as ZIS reports and regional regulations. The analysis was carried out using the Miles & Huberman model, through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions, with data validity strengthened by triangulation. The results show that policy implementation has been carried out through payroll mechanisms and regulatory support, but its effectiveness is limited by uneven socialization, ASN resistance to automatic deductions, differences in treatment between OPDs regarding TPP deductions, and limited BAZNAS human resources. There is a picture between the potential for ASN ZIS reaching ± Rp. 12 billion per year and the realization of only around Rp. 2.55 billion. Therefore, policy implementation remains suboptimal and requires greater institutional capacity, regulatory harmonization, and civil servant zakat literacy.

Abstract

Elementary science education often remains teacher-centered and disconnected from students' cultural contexts, resulting in low learning outcomes. This study aimed to improve fifth-grade students' learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences through a gamification model based on the local wisdom of Behoa Valley at Rompo Elementary School. Employing classroom action research following Kemmis and McTaggart's spiral model, the study involved 12 fifth-grade students across two cycles during October-November 2025. Data were collected through achievement tests, structured observations, and documentation, then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The intervention integrated game elements (points, challenges, rewards) via Wordwall platform with place-based learning resources, specifically the Behoa Valley's megalithic sites, to teach earth science concepts. Student learning outcomes improved progressively from pre-test (average: 54.28, completion: 41.67%) through Cycle I (average: 73.33, completion: 66.67%) to Cycle II (average: 80.41, completion: 83.33%). Student and teacher activities achieved "very good" criteria, with engagement scores reaching 94.64% and 90% respectively in Cycle II. The culturally-embedded gamification model significantly improved student learning outcomes by creating meaningful connections between scientific concepts and familiar cultural landscapes. This approach demonstrates that integrating local wisdom with interactive pedagogy enhances both cognitive achievement and cultural identity, offering valuable implications for culturally-responsive STEM education in heritage-rich contexts.
