Abstract

Adsorption-desorption studies of phosphate on CTAB modified bentonite have been investigated. The results were characterized by FT-IR spectrometer to determine the functional groups in bentonite and X-ray diffractometer to determine the type of minerals in the bentonite. Adsorption was conducted by shaking 10 mg adsorbent in 5 mL adsorbate solution at the optimum condition of pH, contact time, and concentration. Furthermore, desorption studies were conducted on 5 mL medium of both water and citric acid 0.33 M and using 6.5 mg of adsorbent which has adsorbed phosphate. The results showed that the bentonite has been successfully modified with CTAB. The adsorption capacity of phosphate is 0.028 mmol g-1. Desorption studies showed that the solubility percentage of phosphate anion in citric acid was 0.33 M (73.33%) greater than in water (57.81%) which is a requirement for the use of slow-release fertilizers (SRF).

Abstract

In recent years gallic acid has been developed as an AuCl4- adsorbent-reducing agent. In this research, gallic acid was modified with magnetite by sonochemical method (GA-Fe3O4), and its effectiveness as an AuCl4- adsorbent was studied. GA-Fe3O4 was synthesized through one-stage (GA-Fe3O4-SK1) and two-stage (GA-Fe3O4-SK2) methods. The effectiveness of GA-Fe3O4 was studied through optimization studies on pH, time, kinetics, and isotherm adsorption of AuCl4-. The adsorption method used was the batch method in the pH range 2-7. While the kinetics model used was the Lagergren and Ho kinetics model. The adsorption isotherm model used was the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm model. The results showed that the optimum pH conditions for adsorption of AuCl4- on GA-Fe3O4 occurred at pH 3. Adsorption of AuCl4- on GA-Fe3O4-SK1 and GA-Fe3O4-SK2 both followed the Ho kinetic model, while the adsorption isotherm followed the Freundlich isotherm model with values KF were 0.041 and 0.034 mol/g respectively.

Abstract

Genting Village, Semarang, has great potential for mushroom cultivation thanks to geographical and climatic conditions that favour healthy mushroom growth. Although farm women have been actively involved in mushroom cultivation in this village, they often face obstacles in terms of access to resources, knowledge, and marketing of mushroom-based processed food products. To overcome this problem, we, UKM Hizbul Wathan, in the PPK Ormawa 2023 grant activity, propose training and mentoring in the manufacture and marketing of mushroom-based food in Genting Village. The method we use is SWOT analysis, used to identify strengths, weaknesses, threats, and development strategies in overcoming the problems of the mushroom farmer women's group in Genting Village. Strengths include favourable geographical conditions for mushroom cultivation, participation of women farmers, and unique local wisdom. Meanwhile, the main weaknesses are limited access to resources and knowledge. Opportunities in diversification of mushroom-based food products and increasing consumer awareness about healthy food should be utilised. Threats include market competition and climate change. The discussion focuses on strategies for developing training programmes to improve farm women's knowledge and skills, effective marketing efforts, and partnership opportunities with external parties. The results of this study show that mentoring and training in mushroom-based food processing can create new economic opportunities, increase the income of farm women, and support sustainable development in Genting Village.

Abstract

Inducing defect in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is one of the strategies to modify the structure and properties of this functional material. Defect may occur in a pristine MOF due to missing organic linkers, metal centres and/or other structural behaviours. In this study, the structure of defects in multicomponent MOFs especially heterometallic MOFs of zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8(Zn/Cd)) was examined to unveil the possible preference defect formation due to missing 2-methylimidazolate (MeIm) and metal centres of Cd2+ and Zn2+. Assuming defect formation due to the reaction between ZIF-8(Zn/Cd) and water, MeIm linker removal is energetically lower than removing metal centres of either Cd2+ or Zn2+. But, the MeIm linker is easier to be removed when it is connected to Cd2+ (Cd-MeIm-Cd) than when it is connected to Zn2+ (Zn-MeIm-Zn). Defect in ZIF-8(Zn/Cd) affects the band gap energy to give slightly lower value than it in pristine ZIF-8(Zn/Cd). Non-covalent interaction (NCI) and interaction region indicator (IRI) analyses were also performed to indicate possible intermolecular forces such as van der Waals and attractive forces present in non-defective and defective ZIF-8(Zn/Cd). The presence of defects in mixed-metal ZIF-8(Zn/Cd) was also tested for its potential use on CO2 adsorption. The interaction energy of CO2 inside defective ZIF-8(Zn/Cd) indicates an exothermic behaviour where CO2 molecule has a preference to be adsorbed inside the framework. This is especially when the capping agents at the defective ZIF-8(Zn/Cd) sites are removed to give open metal sites. This study provides insight how defects in multicomponent MOFs might presence affecting the structural and properties changes. Copyright © 2024 by Authors, Published by BCREC Publishing Group. Abstract

The use of surveillance videos is increasingly popular in city monitoring systems. Generally, the analysis process in surveillance videos still relies on conventional methods. This method requires professional personnel to constantly monitor and analyze videos to identify abnormal events. Consequently, the conventional approach is time-consuming, resource-intensive, and costly. Therefore, a system is needed to automatically detect video anomalies, reducing the massive human resource utilization for video monitoring. This research employs deep learning methods to classify anomalies in videos. The video anomaly detection process involves transforming the video into image format by extracting each frame present in the video. Subsequently, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model is utilized to classify anomalous events within the video. Testing results using the CNN architectures DenseNet121 and EfficientNet V2 yielded performance accuracies of 99.89 and 98.24, respectively. The testing results indicate that the DenseNet121 architecture outperforms the EfficientNetV2 architecture in terms of performance.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: asosiasi, produksi susu, sapi FH Indonesia, variasi genotip gen PIT1.Association of PIT1|HinfI Genotype Variation on Milk Production of Indonesian Friesian Holstein Dairy Cattle ABSTRACT Pituitary Specific Transcription Factor 1 or known as PIT1, is a gene which function to control the pituitary gland and act as regulatory factor for growth hormone and other hormones related to milk production. The current study was aimed to associate the variant of PIT1 genotype on milk production in Indonesian Friesian Holstein. In total, 42 dairy cows were sampled for DNA source. Phenotypic data of milk yielded from first and second lactation were recorded then standardized to 305 days. To scan PIT1 genotype variation, PCR-RFLP was employed using HinfI restriction enzyme. Three types of PIT1 genotype were found, namely AA, AB, and BB; its frequencies were 0.21; 0.26; and 0.52, respectively. The allele frequencies of allele A and B were 0.35 and 0.65, and the population is in equilibrium condition (p<0.05). Significant associations (p<0.05) were found between genotypes in lactation 1. In this study, BB genotype yielded highest milk compared to other genotypes in lactation 1, but no differences among genotypes were observed in lactation 2. In a conclusion, the variation of PIT1 genotype in Indonesian Friesian Holstein shows potential use for genetic marker to improve milk production in this study. Keywords: association, milk yield, Indonesian Friesian Holstein, PIT1 genotype variation
