Abstract

Green cincau (Premna oblongifolia Merr) is a functional food plant that needs to be developed because it functions as a refreshing plant and has high chlorophyll content to increase endurance and its phytochemical content which is useful for overcoming various diseases. Green cincau (Premna oblongifolia Merr) in peat soils have not been widely cultivated due to the constraints of low soil fertility. This research is basic research aiming to determine the effect of using liquid organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizer on the growth of green cincau in peat soil. The research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Department of Agronomy and soil analysis was carried out at the UPR Integrated Laboratory. This research used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, namely factor I (Liquid Organic Fertilizer) consisting of 3 types, namely: P0 = without liquid organic fertilizer; P1 = Agrobost liquid organic fertilizer; P2 = Nasa liquid organic fertilizer; Factor II (NPK Inorganic Fertilizer) which consists of 3 levels, namely: N0 = NPK 0 g polibag-1; N1 = NPK 1 g polibag-1; N2 = NPK 2 g polibag-1. There were 9 treatment combinations, the replication was carried out 3 times so that there were 27 experimental units. Growth observation variables included a number of shoots, shoot length, number of leaves, leaf area, leaf fresh weight, number of roots, root length, and root fresh weight. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (F test) at the 5% level, if the effect was significant, then tested it with the 5% BNJ test. The results showed that the interaction of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK inorganic fertilizer did not significantly affect all variables. The application of liquid organic fertilizer affects the number of leaves, leaf area, leaf fresh weight, number of roots and root fresh weight. Nasa organic fertilizer provides better growth than Agrobost with 13.42 leaves shoots-1, 2,623.40 cm2 leaf area polibag-1, 47.02 g polibag-1 fresh leaf weight, 12 roots number polibag-1 and 1.55 root weight g polibag-1. NPK inorganic fertilizer at a dose of 2 g polibag-1 resulted in better leaf fresh weight, namely 45.64 g polibag-1

Abstract

[Title: The 21st Century Skills Integration on Character Education]. Various cases carried out by teenagers require serious handling with a variety of strategies, including through character education. Character education does not mean reducing or replacing "traditional" educational goals such as the accumulation of knowledge and the development of intellectual and practical abilities. Character education is carried out integrated into every subject and requires the support of all parties: parents, teachers, schools, education staff, the daily community of students and of course the government. The development of character can be understood in a model, including the Neo-Aristotelian Model. Good character education will not only affect well being and good character, but also good academic ability. Character education is not something new, and it is not separated from the 21st-century skill-building needed today.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligent (AI) tools in education has had a significant impact on learning experiences and outcomes. This review looks at recent advances in artificial intelligence tools and their implications for future research and practice. The review article followed the PRISMA method. Relevant articles on AI in education, specifically those describing the integration of AI or machine learning  in undergraduate was extracted from the SCOPUS database. The inclusion criteria focus on articles directly related to teaching and training in structured programs that published in 2019 to 2023. A total of twelve documents were recognized and subjected to hand identification for subsequent analysis. The result shows that cognitive tutors, which are interactive learning environments facilitated by intelligent tutoring systems, improve learning outcomes. The challenge of balancing instructional assistance and self-directed learning, on the other hand, is inherent in AI-driven tools. AI tools in higher education provide numerous advantages at the institutional, social, and instructional levels. Disruptive AI tools such as ChatGPT have emerged, but challenges include job displacement concerns and the need for constant adaptation. AI language learning tools are important in language acquisition processes because they provide personalized learning paths and interactive engagement. However, ethical considerations and competencies related to AI-based tools in education are assessed, with parallels drawn to healthcare guidelines. It emphasizes the importance of strong ethical frameworks, as well as the critical role of educators and professionals in responsible AI use, in order to maintain a symbiotic relationship between human expertise and technological advancement. Overall, this review summarizes recent advances in the use of artificial intelligence tools to revolutionize education, emphasizing the importance of ongoing research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and careful implementation.

Abstract

Several studies have highlighted the essential nature of students' problem-solving skills. However, these studies have also revealed that students' problem-solving skills in Indonesia are currently lacking. Consequently, there is a need to empower and improve these skills. This research aims to investigate the impact of implementing the Remap-STAD learning model, with the assistance of the GitMind application, in order to enhance students' problem-solving abilities in the field of biology. The research design employed in this study is a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research sample comprises 70 students from class X MIPA at SMAN 9 Malang, East Java. The experimental group was taught using the Remap-STAD learning model, supplemented with the GitMind application, while the control group was taught using the STAD learning model alone. Problem-solving skills were assessed through a description test comprising eight questions. Greenstein's (2012) scoring rubric, which encompasses eight indicators including problem identification, application of problem-solving steps, identification and evaluation of solutions, defense of solutions, real-world applications, inductive reasoning, and deductive reasoning, was employed for scoring. ANCOVA was utilized to analyze the data on problem-solving skills, with a significance level set at 5%. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was conducted to assess the normality of the data, while Levene's Test of Equality of Variances was used to evaluate homogeneity. The data analysis findings indicate significant treatment effects for the learning model (p < 0.05), thereby accepting the research hypothesis. The results demonstrate that the Remap-STAD learning model, combined with the GitMind application, can notably enhance students' problem-solving skills in the context of biology education. Consequently, the implementation of Remap-STAD, with assistance from the GitMind application, necessitates the development of instructional tools tailored to the chosen learning model and the specific skills being measured. This approach will promote and enhance learning activities, particularly in improving students' problem-solving capabilities.

Abstract

The cognitive learning outcomes of 10th-grade students at SMA Islam Malang regarding the concept of viruses are low. This is due to the perception among students that the virus concept is difficult to grasp, and the learning methods employed tend to be monotonous. Consequently, the aim of this study is to develop and assess the effectiveness of 'Virulent Attack' - a role-playing learning media adapted from the popular game Werewolf - in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students in understanding the virus concept. Following the ADDIE development model, the study involved 29 X-D students from SMA Islam Malang who had no prior knowledge of the virus concept. The validation test was conducted by three experts (one material expert, one media expert, and one biology teacher) using a validation sheet questionnaire. The practicality test was carried out by students during the trial stages, and one educational practitioner provided feedback through a response questionnaire. The effectiveness test was evaluated by comparing students' pretest and posttest scores on cognitive learning outcomes, which were analyzed using the N-Gain score criteria. The findings indicate that 'Virulent Attack' is highly valid (material expert: 100%, media expert: 94.64%, biology teacher: 96.68%), practical (average score: 90.58%), and moderately effective in improving cognitive outcomes (N-Gain score: 0.66, effectiveness: 66.55%). Importantly, the game provided a positive learning experience, increased motivation, and facilitated a deeper conceptual understanding, suggesting its potential application in real-world educational contexts. These findings not only highlight the value of role-playing games in educational settings but also have practical implications for incorporating such media into biology curricula to enhance engagement and understanding.
