Abstract

The lack of teachers' social competence has a negative impact on the decline of the image of a pleasant school environment. The purpose of this research is to find and analyze the implementation of collaborative learning that can improve the social competence of teachers of SMP Negeri 2 Darangdan Purwakarta. This research uses a case study approach. The data collection method used participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies on learning community activities. The results of the study show that (1) Collaborative learning that is institutionalized through the forum of Learning Communities (Kombel) and Lesson Study can change the work pattern of teachers that were originally individualistic to more collective; (2) The interaction process in planning and evaluating joint learning significantly hones communication skills, cooperation, and empathy between peers; (3) The main obstacles found were time constraints and schedule adjustments, but the managerial support of the principal was the key to the success of the program. The conclusion of this study is that effective collaborative learning functions as a social laboratory that matures teachers' professional attitudes.

Abstract

The effectiveness of learning management in increasing student motivation, especially through the group discussion method, tends to be passive without proper teacher intervention. This study aims to find and analyze the role of teacher scaffolding in increasing the motivation of student group discussions at SMPN 3 Darangdan. The researcher uses a case study approach. The data collection method uses observation, interview, and documentation study methods of school principals, teachers, and grade IX students. The results of the study show that careful planning in mapping students' Zones of Proximal Development (ZPD) as well as the provision of dynamic support (such as hints and encouragement) are significantly able to arouse students' intrinsic motivation and independence. The process of fading or gradually reducing assistance has proven crucial in changing the dynamics of the discussion from passive to active and collaborative. This study concludes that the mastery of scaffolding techniques by teachers is an effective classroom managerial strategy to realize the quality of student-centered learning and in line with the vision of RAMAH at SMPN 3 Darangdan.

Abstract

Effective schools are still limited in number and these schools are an indicator of the success of the implementation of education which is not only determined by academic achievements, but also by the formation of disciplinary behavior and learning culture of students. One of the strategic factors that plays a role in realizing an effective school is the school setting, which is the management of the school environment which includes physical, social, academic, and cultural aspects of the school. In a behavioristic perspective, the school environment is understood as a series of stimuli that systematically shape students' behavioral responses through reinforcement mechanisms. This study aims to analyze the application of school setting in realizing effective schools in SMP Negeri 3 Darangdan through a behavioristic perspective. This research uses a qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out through non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies on school rules and habituation programs. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by applying triangulation of sources and techniques to maintain the validity of the data. The results of the study show that the school setting at SMP Negeri 3 Darangdan is implemented through the management of an orderly physical environment, the implementation of clear school rules, discipline habituation, and a relatively consistent educational reward and sanction system. In a behavioristic perspective, rules and rules function as a stimulus, while rewards and sanctions act as behavioral reinforcement. The conclusion of the study is that the implementation of the school setting contributes positively to the formation of student discipline behavior, a positive learning culture, and a conducive school climate.

Abstract

Learning motivation is one of the important factors influencing the success of students in the learning process, especially at the junior high school (SMP) level. However, in learning practice students are still found with low learning motivation, characterized by a lack of involvement, initiative, and learning responsibility. This study aims to find the implementation of coaching interventions in increasing the learning motivation of junior high school students. This research uses a case study approach with data collection methods, namely observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique is carried out by the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that (1) Coaching interventions are able to increase students' learning motivation through strengthening self-awareness, setting meaningful learning goals, and increasing self-regulation and student involvement in learning; (2) Coaching also strengthens the positive relationship between teachers and students so as to create a more supportive and enjoyable learning climate; (3) The implementation of coaching still experiences obstacles in the form of limited time and student readiness. This study concludes that coaching is one of the relevant pedagogical approaches and can increase the learning motivation of junior high school students if supported by a conducive school environment.

Abstract

This research aims to find and analyze the implementation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning methods in improving student competence. The researcher uses a qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. A sample of 22 (total sampling) educators used a structured questionnaire instrument. The results of the study showed that (1) The level of initial understanding and commitment of educators to STEM methods reached 99%; (2) Practically 21 respondents have applied this method and (99%) believe that the STEM approach is very effective in improving students' critical thinking, creativity, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills; (3) The phenomenon of polarizing experience 11 (50%) of respondents still faces technical obstacles in its implementation; (4)Phase C (Grades 5-6) was identified as the most optimal level for STEM reinforcement with a percentage of 54.5%. This study concludes that STEM learning methods can improve student competence.

Abstract

The implementation of child-friendly schools has been widely applied to educational units, but it is not optimal in the daily learning process. Some of the learning is still oriented towards cognitive aspects and classroom control that are instructive, so that the opportunity to internalize character values has not run optimally. This study aims to describe and analyze the optimization of child-friendly classrooms in shaping the positive character of students in SD Negeri 2 Tanjungsari. This research uses a qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. Data collection methods include participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with principals, teachers, and students, and documentation studies of learning tools and school policies. The selection of respondents was carried out by purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, with the application of triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure the validity of the data. The results of the study show that (1) Optimization of child-friendly classrooms is carried out through student-oriented learning planning, the implementation of participatory and humanist learning, and positive discipline-based classroom management; (2) A safe, comfortable, and inclusive classroom environment encourages students' active involvement in learning; (3) These activities have an impact on the formation of positive character of students, especially discipline, responsibility, cooperation, empathy, and confidence. The conclusion of this study is: the implementation of child-friendly classes can form the positive character of elementary school students.

Abstract

Low critical thinking skills have a negative impact on the competence of graduate students. Students' low critical thinking skills are caused by one of the learning models that teach critical thinking skills are not used properly in every learning in the classroom. One of the learning models that is in accordance with critical thinking skills is Project Based Learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of students' critical thinking skills. The researcher uses a quantitative research paradigm with a quasi-experimental method carried out in the context of secondary education. The research instrument used is Non-equivalent Pretest-Posttest Design. The results of the study show that (1) The application of the Project Based Learning model can improve critical thinking skills; (2) Project-based learning is an effective model approach that focuses on critical thinking in solving problems; (3) The Project Based Learning model can create interaction between students and other students. The conclusion of this study is that the Project Based Learning model is an effective approach in developing students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The application of character strengthening based on local wisdom to deal with moral degradation and lack of social sensitivity is one of the vocal points. The purpose of this study is to find and analyze the implementation of the Nyanding Wawangi Thursday habituation program in maximizing the potential of SMPN 3 Cibatu students. Researchers of qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. The data collection method was carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model that includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. Sample selection was carried out by purposive sampling. The results of the study show that the implementation of Thursday Nyanding Wawangi can maximize the potential of students. In other words, this habituation based on local wisdom has succeeded in becoming a catalyst for the development of students' character and full potential, validating the important role of Sundanese local wisdom in national education.

Abstract

The management of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) and its impact on improving the pedagogic competence of elementary school teachers is still low. This is one of the causes of the quality of learning. The purpose of this research is to find professional management of the learning community towards improving teachers' pedagogic competence. The researcher uses a case study approach. Data were collected through observation methods, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model that includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that (1) Professional Management of Learning Community at SDN 1 Nagri Kidul is carried out through a weekly reflection cycle and sharing of best practices that are integrated into the school schedule; (2) The implementation of the Professional Learning Community significantly improves teachers' ability to design differentiated learning and manage authentic assessments. In conclusion, the structured management of the Professional Learning Community is effective in transforming teachers' pedagogic competencies from individualistic to collective work patterns.

Abstract

The low ability to tell short stories is one of the problems so that students tend to be rigid, lack confidence, and have difficulty expressing themselves emotionally. There is a gap between the demands of the curriculum that requires students to be skilled in communicative speaking and the reality in the field, showing that literary learning is still conventional and theoretical. This study aims to describe and analyze the internalization of characters through the Role Playing learning method in improving students' short story skills. The research paradigm used is qualitative with data collection methods in the form of non-participatory observations, limited interviews with teachers and students, and documentation. The findings of the study show that (1) The Role Playing Method is effective in building confidence so that it can create organic improvisation and natural gestures through the internalization of character characters; (2) Gestures and aspects of intonation, as well as articulation undergo changes through the process of imitation and creative sound experimentation; (3) Students no longer just memorize texts, but are able to bring the narrative to life through the synchronization of vocals and facial expressions. It was concluded that the Role Playing method succeeded in changing the storytelling learning paradigm from just an academic task to a creative form of self-actualization, improving the quality of storytelling, and successfully creating a supportive and appreciative classroom ecosystem.
