Abstract

Abstract

Fraud is a problem that occurs in various organizations, including educational institutions. This condition is very ironic, educational institutions as institutions are required to teach anti-fraud education, but in fact, the educational institutions themselves are still fraudulent. This study aimed to explain the factors that can influence the principal, treasurer, and school committee to abuse school aid funds. The research sample was 145 principals, treasurers, and school committees for the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels selected by convenience sampling method. All variables were measured using five Likert scales and analyzed with the multiple regression method. Instrument validity test using Pearson product-moment. This study shows that we found that pressure, internal control, integrity, and religiosity influence fraud. High financial pressures stemming from greed, a luxurious lifestyle, debt, integrity, low systems of control, and religiosity can increase fraud. These results reinforce the importance of schools or education-related regulatory agencies to be able to take policies to form a school environment that encourages honesty, limits teachers to hedonism, has a fair compensation system, and encourages teachers to practice worship, which needs to be done to avoid financial fraud from abuse of school aid funds.

Abstract

This study aimed to see how financial distress, conflicts of interest, and litigation risk affected accounting conservatism when an audit committee was present as a moderating variable. The population was manufacturing companies indexed at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2019-2021. The tool employed descriptive and moderation regression analysis. The findings of this research showed that financial distress, conflicts of interest, and litigation risk had a significant positive effect on accounting conservatism. However, the audit committee could not moderate the impact of financial distress, conflict of interest, and litigation risk on accounting conservatism. Financial distress had a significant positive effect on accounting conservatism. Litigation risk was one of the negative impacts of agency problems in a company. These results supported the agency theory, which explains that lawsuits or litigation risks can occur due to differences in interests between management and investors, creditors, or the government. This research contributes to accounting standard policymaking, particularly in applying the conservatism principle. Based on the occurrences and findings of past investigations, which are still inconsistent, the originality of this study was to see how financial distress, conflicts of interest, and litigation risk affected accounting conservatism by including the audit committee variable as a moderating variable.

Abstract

Weather and climate play an important role in everyday life, influencing various aspects of society and the environment. The city of Yogyakarta as a cultural center cannot be separated from the impacts of climate change, including rainfall patterns which can have significant effectiveness on daily activities, agriculture and infrastructure. This research uses a fuzzy logic methodology approach with the Mamdani method to predict rainfall. Fuzzy logic has proven to be effective in cold situations and is able to overcome the challenges of missing or incomplete data. The data used in this research was obtained from Bappeda DIY. The implementation for predicting rainfall levels uses Matlab by utilizing the provided Fuzzy Logic Matlab Toolbox. Based on research conducted using a fuzzy logic test to calculate all research accuracy data, an average error value in RMSE was obtained of 39.88%. These results indicate that there is significant error in these predictions, indicating that the fuzzy logic control model is not completely accurate. Therefore, it is necessary to review the data used in this prediction to ensure its accuracy.

Abstract

Global environmental concerns requiring excellent air quality have prompted the development of a variety of eco-friendly energy sources. Hydrogen gas is an environmentally friendly option that may be created using an electrolysis device that converts water into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). In this study, a dry cell electrolyzer with a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) membrane was used as a separator between two stainless steel 316 electrodes to generate a high hydrogen yield. The hydrogen gas production from the dry cell electrolyzer was determined using gas chromatography. The results showed that using a KOH electrolyte and a PVA membrane considerably enhanced the hydrogen gas composition. Hydrogen gas compositions after electrolysis using a dry cell electrolyzer without a PVA membrane and KOH electrolyte concentrations of 0 M, 0.04 M, 0.07 M, and 0.11 M being 13.70%, 25.10%, 32.50%, and 15.60%, respectively. With a PVA membrane, the hydrogen compositions were 71.50%, 89.10%, 80.50%, and 84.60%, respectively. The results of these experiments show that the most hydrogen gas was produced utilizing a dry cell electrolyzer with a PVA membrane and a 0.04 M KOH electrolyte concentration. When a PVA membrane and a KOH electrolyte are utilized in electrolysis, the hydrogen gas composition improves significantly compared to when either is utilized.

Abstract

Fish is a product with high nutritional content, and the development of fish oil has made it easier for consumers to consume. High-quality fish oil can be a target for adulteration, such as with vegetable oils like palm oil. FTIR spectroscopy was developed for the authentication of bawal fish oil (BFO) from palm oil (PO). Bawal fish oil and palm oil were prepared in binary mixtures with concentrations from 0-100%, resulting in 21 mixtures. The oil was directly measured by attenuated total reflectance (ATR) spectral measurement in the mid-infrared region (4000-600 cm-1). The results were combined with linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and multivariate calibration, such as PLSR or PCR. The results showed that LDA could make clear discrimination between bawal fish oil, palm oil, and their mixtures without any misclassification observed. Multivariate calibration with PLSR using the first derivative spectrum provided the best model for the relationship between actual and predicted FTIR values. At this conditions, the R2 values for the calibration and validation models obtained were 0.9966 and 0.9969, with RMSEC and RMSEP values of 0.0249 and 0.0248, respectively. Therefore, FTIR spectroscopy combined with LDA and PLSR is an effective method for authenticating bawal fish oil from palm oil.
