Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to develop and assess the effectiveness of Smart Apps Creator (SAC)-based interactive learning media to enhance critical thinking skills among fifth-grade students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning.Methodology – Employing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study employed a quasi-experimental design with purposive sampling for the needs analysis (20 teachers, 24 students) and random sampling for the trials (54 experimental and 57 control group students across four elementary schools). The experimental group engaged in six offline SAC-based learning sessions, while the control group used conventional methods (lectures, worksheets, static images). Data were collected through classroom observations, media feasibility questionnaires, and pre- and post-tests of critical thinking skills, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, and N-Gain scores.Findings – The SAC-based media achieved high feasibility (expert validation: 82.3%-86.5%). They significantly improved critical thinking, with the experimental group recording an N-Gain of 0.75 (high) and a t-value of -30.556 (p = 0.000), outperforming the control group’s N-Gain of 0.42 (moderate) and a t-value of -18.070 (p = 0.000). Interactive elements, such as quizzes and animations, fostered student-centered learning, although challenges included limited hardware and teacher training needs. The offline SAC media effectively addressed connectivity constraints, enhancing analytical skills.Contribution – This study offers a scalable, offline educational technology solution for rural areas, promoting 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and suggesting the broader implementation and exploration of additional skills, including collaboration and communication.

Abstract

Unintended pregnancies are still a major global reproductive health issue since affecting the risk of maternal and child health. This study aims to determine the prevalence of unintended pregnancies and its associated factors among women of childbearing age in East Java. We explored secondary data analysis from the most recent 2019 Program Performance and Accountability Survey. Frequency distribution tables and cross-tabulations were used to describe the participants characteristics. The univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis was utilized to find the effect size of predictors on unintended pregnancies with 95% Confidence Intervals (CIs). All analysis were done using STATA version 17 with complex survey data design. This study revealed that the weighted prevalence of unintended pregnancies was 14.95% (95% CI: 13.47 – 16.42) among current married women. The main reasons of unintended pregnancies were living in urban areas (aOR: 1.36; 95% CI: 1.05–1.77), from rich household wealth index (aOR: 1.82; 95% CI: 1.17–2.83), and used electronic media (aOR: 1.83; 95% CI: 1.21–2.75). Policies to reduce unintended pregnancies should prioritize married women in urban areas, particularly those who have good access to electronic media, and come from more prosperous households. The provision of accurate and standardized contraceptive information through digital-based family planning education, facilitated by qualified health communicators, plays a pivotal role in mitigating misinformation. BKKBN needs to encourage the optimization of the Kampung KB and Bangga Kencana programs to increase access to effective contraceptive methods, notably LARCs.

Abstract

This study explores the reconstruction of village government authority within the framework of asymmetric autonomy in the digital era, guided by the theoretical framework of good governance. Utilizing a juridical-normative approach, the research examines key legal sources—particularly Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages (UU Desa)—as well as academic literature on decentralization and village autonomy. The findings show that village autonomy is an inherent right, rooted in hak asal-usul (origin-based rights), and recognized by the Indonesian Constitution. However, its implementation faces significant challenges, including disparities in capacity among regions, regulatory overlaps, and weak accountability mechanisms—especially in underdeveloped villages. The digitalization of village governance offers potential to strengthen transparency, administrative efficiency, and community participation. The study proposes that reconstruction of village authority should adopt an asymmetric autonomy model, tailored to local conditions while upholding the principles of good governance: transparency, accountability, participation, effectiveness, rule of law, and responsiveness.Key recommendations include strengthening the legal recognition of traditional village rights, localizing and simplifying regulations, improving digital literacy and infrastructure at the village level, and fostering participatory oversight. These steps aim to realize village autonomy that is context-sensitive, equitable, and aligned with a democratic and responsive state structure.

Abstract

Natural Science (IPA) learning today in elementary schools tends to be still theoretical and less contextual with students' lives. This research aims to develop science teaching materials in the form of an ethnoscience-based digital encyclopedia that integrates the local wisdom of Sukoharjo Regency. The ethnoscience approach is used to bridge scientific concepts with local cultural values to increase the relevance and meaning of learning. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, including the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were obtained through literature studies, field observations, interviews with community leaders, and validation by material and media experts. Preliminary results suggest that various local practices, such as traditional food processing, herbal medicine, and agricultural systems, have scientific value that can be integrated into science material. The developed digital encyclopedia is equipped with illustrations, interactive narratives, and multimedia content to make it easier for students to understand. These findings show that the development of ethnoscience-based contextual teaching materials has the potential to improve the quality of science learning in elementary schools in a creative, meaningful, and rooted in local culture
