Abstract

This study explores the strategic framework for aligning human resource (HR) investments with financial objectives and broader business goals to enhance organizational performance. Through a qualitative literature review, this research synthesizes existing literature to understand the dynamics between strategic HR management, financial planning, and organizational outcomes, thereby elucidating how strategic alignment can optimize budget allocation in HR. The research methodology encompasses a comprehensive review of scholarly articles, foundational texts, and empirical studies related to strategic human resource management (SHRM). The focus is on how integration of HR functions with organizational strategies can contribute to enhanced financial performance and competitive advantage. By examining studies from the past three decades, this review highlights how effectively aligned HR practices support not only immediate operational goals but also long-term strategic objectives. Findings indicate that organizations demonstrating a high degree of strategic alignment in HR practices, such as recruitment, training, and compensation, see improved financial outcomes and organizational agility. The study reveals that investments in HR are most effective when meticulously aligned with an organization's strategic vision, emphasizing the importance of a dual approach where HR not only supports but actively drives strategic decisions. Furthermore, the integration of advanced analytics and technology in HR processes emerges as a significant enhancer of this alignment, enabling more precise decision-making and real-time adjustments in strategy. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing a detailed analysis of the mechanisms through which strategic HR alignment impacts organizational performance and by proposing a framework for organizations to optimize their HR budget allocation in line with strategic goals.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease that currently has significant morbidity and mortality rates. In Indonesia, the trend of DHF cases has increased and decreased every year. This study aims to analyze the development of dengue cases by considering two indicators, namely dengue incidence rate and dengue case fatality rate (CFR) during the period 2012-2022, to know the pattern of dengue disease in Indonesia, and evaluate the government's target in handling dengue cases based on IR and CFR rates. The data used is secondary data obtained from the 2021 Indonesian Health Profile and the 2022 Dengue Fever Annual Report. IR and CFR data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel which will be interpreted in the form of graphs to illustrate the trends and patterns of DHF cases in Indonesia, IR maps in 2021 and 2022 were analyzed using ArcGIS software. Based on the results of the analysis, the development of dengue cases during the period 2012-2022 experienced a misalignment between the increasing trend of IR and CFR. The IR value experienced significant fluctuations from 37.3 per 100,000 population in 2012 to 52.07 per 100,000 population in 2022, while the CFR value during the period 2012-2022 tended to decrease from 0.90% (2012) to 0.86% (2022). This pattern reflects the complex dynamics of DHF epidemiology, where an increase in cases is not always followed by an increase in fatalities. The IR and CFR achievements for 2022 have not met the government's expectations, with only 16% of districts/cities having IR values ≤ 10/100,000, while the CFR value reached 0.86%, slightly above the set target of 0.7%.

Abstract

Abstract

The Suku Orang Rimba (SOR) is one of the indigenous people who still uphold ancestral traditions utilizing local knowledge to conserve forest resources. This includes maintaining forest resources that can be used as a buffer for the interests and needs of indigenous peoples both for consumption, economic, and religious ritual needs. However, territorial conflicts and unilateral claims by interested parties often damage SOR's living space and take advantage of forest areas as land for industry. The local indigenous knowledge of the SOR that is not recognized and without clear evidence also causes the rights to the land where SOR lives and livelihoods are also threatened. This study aims to conduct ethnobotanical mapping of SOR in a participatory manner by utilizing the local knowledge of indigenous peoples and providing opportunities so that SOR in Taman Nasional Bukit Duabelas (TNBD) can learn independently in making and owning their maps. Participatory mapping in this study is divided into five stages, namely the training stage, survey study, data processing and modeling, descriptive study, and evaluation study. The research instruments in this study are earth-like maps, mapping survey tools in the form of GPS, and GIS software. The results of this study are a map of ethnobotanical distribution in SOR, consisting of 64 ethnobotanical points categorized into seven categories of mapping objects with supporting information from interview results, and literature studies that have been carried out. From this participatory ethnobotanical mapping activity, it shows that the SOR mapping team in addition to playing an active role in communicating clearly and transparently about the object of study under study also contributes directly to determining the direction of surveying and mapping, can encourage active public awareness increase, and has the capacity and capability to master survey and mapping practices so that maps and map making can be tools and/or part of the community as proof of the right to life of the SOR indigenous people in TNBD.Keywords: Suku Orang Rimba, participatory mapping, ethnobotany, TNBD

Abstract

General Background: Financial performance is a critical aspect of company evaluation, influenced by various internal and external factors. In the context of emerging markets, such as Indonesia, understanding the determinants of financial performance is crucial for both investors and policymakers. Specific Background: This study investigates the impact of institutional ownership, leverage, and company size on the financial performance of manufacturing technology sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2022-2023. Knowledge Gap: Although previous research has explored individual factors affecting financial performance, limited studies have concurrently examined institutional ownership, leverage, and company size within a specific sector in the Indonesian market. Aims: This research aims to elucidate the causal relationships between institutional ownership, leverage, and company size on financial performance, measured by Return On Assets (ROA), using a quantitative approach and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The study finds that institutional ownership significantly positively impacts financial performance, suggesting that higher institutional supervision enhances management effectiveness and investor confidence. Conversely, leverage exhibits a negative but statistically insignificant effect, indicating it is not a major determinant of financial performance. Company size is found to have a significant negative effect, implying that larger firms may experience decreased financial performance due to potential inefficiencies in asset management. Novelty: This research provides a nuanced understanding of how institutional ownership, leverage, and company size interactively influence financial performance within the technology manufacturing sector in Indonesia, contributing new insights into sector-specific financial dynamics. Implications: The findings highlight the importance of institutional investors in enhancing company performance and suggest that larger firms may need to focus on improving asset management practices. Future research should explore additional variables and other sectors to enhance generalizability and provide broader insights into financial performance determinants.

Abstract

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) practices are particularly crucial in this industry to ensure stability and compliance with regulatory requirements. This study examines the effect of ERM on a firm’s operational and financial performances by using two mediating variables of compliance practices and IT strategy. By using a quantitative approach, data was collected through purposive random sampling from 250 bank managers in Jabodetabek, Indonesia. The study found that ERM was found to influence financial and operational performance positively and significantly. Moreover, compliance practices positively and significantly affect both financial and operational performance. IT strategy also has a positive and significant impact on firm performance. In testing the mediating effect, IT strategy partially mediates the relationship between ERM and performance, as do compliance practices. These findings highlight the importance of ERM, IT strategy, and compliance practices in enhancing the performance of banking companies in Indonesia. The findings validate the increasing importance of risk management in the financial landscape in Indonesia. The recognition of the banking sector's complexity and vulnerability to diverse risk types, including credit, market, operational, and regulatory risks, underscores the critical role of risk management practices. Keywords: enterprise risk management, compliance practices, it strategy, financial performance, operational performance

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of principal leadership and teacher professional competence on the quality of public elementary schools in Sumber District, Rembang Regency. Using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design, data were collected through validated questionnaires from 147 elementary school teachers selected via proportional random sampling from a population of 233 teachers across 25 schools. Data analysis employed SPSS 25 for Windows, including Pearson correlation, simple and multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²), all preceded by assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity). The results show that both principal leadership and teacher professional competence are significantly and strongly correlated with school quality (r = 0.623 and r = 0.606, respectively). Principal leadership explains 38.8% of the variation in school quality, while teacher professional competence contributes 36.7%. Combined, both variables account for 48.3% of the variance. The regression model confirms that improvements in both leadership and professional competence positively and significantly affect school quality. These findings highlight the essential role of effective leadership and teacher competence in enhancing educational outcomes. Therefore, systematic capacity-building for school leaders and continuous professional development for teachers are crucial strategies. This research contributes to empirical understanding and offers practical insights for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders in formulating targeted interventions to improve school quality in primary education settings.
