Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in Indonesian language learning at elementary school that encompasses the process of understanding and interpreting texts, not merely recognizing letters and words. Narrative texts as one of the learning materials in fourth grade often pose challenges for students due to story structure complexity, limited vocabulary, and low reading interest. This study aims to analyze the difficulties of fourth-grade students at SDN 05 Kotabaru in understanding narrative texts in Indonesian language learning. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach using observation, interview, and documentation techniques involving 7 students and the fourth-grade teacher. The findings revealed six main difficulties: difficulty understanding text content requiring repeated reading for long texts 5 out of 7 students, limited vocabulary especially words describing actions and emotional states, difficulty understanding plot structure with most confusion at the climax, difficulty finding main ideas 6 out of 7 students, difficulty understanding moral messages as the most challenging aspect 5 out of 7 students showing a gap between literal and evaluative comprehension, and difficulty understanding characters with ambiguous or dynamic characteristics. These difficulties are caused by internal factors (low reading comprehension ability, limited memory capacity, low reading interest) and external factors (overly long and complex texts, limited learning media, non-conducive learning environment). These findings emphasize the need for more varied and systematic learning strategies, particularly in developing evaluative comprehension skills and implicit information interpretation to improve students' literacy quality.

Abstract

This study aims to develop website-based learning media with a STEM approach on simple aircraft material to improve junior high school students' creative thinking skills. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Instruments include validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and creative thinking tests. The validation results showed a score of 89% by material experts and 96% by media experts with a very valid category. Practicality by teachers was 80% with a practical category and students were 89% with a very practical category. The t-test showed a result of -22.681 (t <α, α = 0.05), and an n-gain of 0.6437 (moderate category). These results indicate that website-based media with a STEM approach is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the difficulties experienced by students in using conjunctions and to analyze the factors that cause these difficulties in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 19 fourth-grade students of SDN 05 Beloyang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested using source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results showed that some students were familiar with several conjunctions such as and, but, and because, but they were not yet able to use them appropriately according to their functions and sentence contexts. The difficulties experienced by students included understanding the functions of conjunctions, choosing the appropriate type of conjunction, and placing conjunctions correctly in sentences. In addition, students had difficulty distinguishing between coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. These difficulties were influenced by several factors, including limited reading and writing skills, lack of practice in constructing sentences, limited learning media or teaching materials, and a less supportive learning environment. Therefore, teachers need to implement varied teaching methods, provide regular writing exercises, and utilize engaging learning media to improve students’ understanding of conjunction usage. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam penggunaan kata penghubung serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan tersebut pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV A SDN 05 Beloyang yang berjumlah 19 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data diuji melalui triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian siswa telah mengenal beberapa kata penghubung seperti dan, tetapi, dan karena, namun belum mampu menggunakan kata penghubung secara tepat sesuai fungsi dan konteks kalimat. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa meliputi pemahaman fungsi kata penghubung, ketepatan dalam memilih jenis konjungsi, serta penempatan kata penghubung dalam kalimat. Selain itu, siswa juga mengalami kesulitan dalam membedakan konjungsi koordinatif dan subordinatif. Faktor penyebab kesulitan tersebut antara lain kemampuan membaca dan menulis siswa yang masih perlu ditingkatkan, kurangnya latihan dalam menyusun kalimat, keterbatasan media atau bahan ajar, serta lingkungan belajar yang kurang mendukung. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya guru melalui penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang bervariasi, pemberian latihan menulis secara rutin, serta pemanfaatan media pembelajaran yang menarik agar pemahaman siswa terhadap penggunaan kata penghubung dapat meningkat.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the economy; however, the use of social media as a marketing tool is still not optimal. This study aims to describe the assistance process in utilizing social media for MSME Roti Bolen and Donat Bu Tiyas in Poncorejo Village, Gemuh District, Kendal Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study method through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that assistance provided during the Community Service Program (KKN) improved the MSME owner’s understanding of social media management, particularly in creating promotional content and interacting with consumers. Although the increase in sales was not significant, social media utilization proved effective in expanding market reach and enhancing MSMEs competitiveness.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa sekolah dasar dalam memahami konsep pecahan pada pembelajaran matematika di kelas IV SDN 05 Bloyang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 20 siswa, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes tertulis, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep dasar pecahan, khususnya pada materi pembagian pecahan dengan penyebut berbeda. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa meliputi kurangnya pemahaman konsep dasar, kesulitan memahami soal, kelemahan dalam perhitungan, serta kurangnya pengulangan materi di rumah. Selain itu, proses pembelajaran yang cenderung menekankan pada pemberian contoh soal tanpa penjelasan konsep secara mendalam, sikap belajar siswa yang pasif, serta motivasi belajar yang rendah turut memengaruhi pemahaman siswa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya pembelajaran yang lebih menekankan pada pemahaman konsep secara mendasar dan penggunaan metode yang bervariasi agar siswa dapat memahami materi pecahan dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of fourth-grade students to the use of mathematics kits in learning within the Merdeka Curriculum. The research employed a Mixed Methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory Design, which begins with quantitative data collection followed by qualitative data to provide deeper explanations of the results. The subjects of this study were 23 fourth-grade students at SDN 25 Tahalut. Data were collected through student response questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The questionnaire used a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 4. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including mean, median, and mode, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ responses to the use of mathematics kits were in the very good category, with a mean score of 84.61, a median of 85, and modes of 84 and 85. After being converted to a Likert scale, the average score was 3.38, which falls into the very good category. Observations and interviews also indicated that the use of mathematics kits increased students’ activeness, attention, and enthusiasm during mathematics learning. Therefore, mathematics kits can serve as an effective learning medium to help students understand mathematical concepts more concretely and create a more engaging and interactive learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the early reading ability of third-grade elementary school students through the use of serial picture media in Indonesian language learning. The focus of the study includes the ability to recognize picture sequences, read simple sentences, and compose stories based on a series of pictures. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of the third-grade homeroom teacher and third-grade students at SDN 28 Kelakik. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation to obtain an in-depth understanding of the learning process and outcomes. The results indicate that serial picture media help students understand picture sequences more systematically, improve accuracy and fluency in reading simple sentences, and support students’ ability to compose simple stories based on pictures. Overall, serial picture media contribute positively to improving the early reading ability of third-grade students.

Abstract

General Background: Elementary education requires appropriate instructional media to support student understanding and engagement, particularly within integrated science learning (IPAS). Specific Background: Learning about simple electrical circuits is often challenging for elementary students due to its abstract and dynamic nature, while classroom practices remain dominated by limited and less interactive media. Knowledge Gap: Although animated video has been widely recognized in science education, there is limited empirical evidence focusing on its application in IPAS learning on simple electrical circuits for fifth-grade students and its role in addressing conceptual understanding and classroom engagement. Aims: This study aims to examine the use of animated video in improving student learning outcomes on simple electrical circuit concepts among fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Pinoh Utara. Results: Using a one-group pretest-posttest design with 20 students, the findings reveal a statistically significant increase in learning outcomes after the intervention (t_count = 30.241 > t_table = 1.734; p < 0.05), indicating measurable improvement in students’ cognitive achievement. Novelty: The study applies Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning principles within IPAS context to directly measure learning outcomes and conceptual understanding of abstract scientific processes in elementary education. Implications: Animated video learning provides a practical instructional approach that supports active participation, accommodates diverse learning styles, and facilitates clearer understanding of abstract concepts, offering valuable guidance for improving science teaching strategies in primary schools. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital memberikan peluang besar dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah. Namun, tidak semua guru memiliki kemampuan optimal dalam memanfaatkan media digital secara efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam penggunaan media digital sebagai sarana pembelajaran di SMA Plus Al-Azhar Jember. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan, praktik langsung, dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan berbagai platform digital seperti Google Classroom, Canva, dan aplikasi pembelajaran interaktif lainnya. Selain itu, guru menjadi lebih kreatif dalam menyusun materi pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap kualitas proses pembelajaran di sekolah.

Abstract

This study examines students’ science literacy through the implementation of the flipped classroom model in an elementary school context. The research is grounded in the persistent challenge of low science literacy, often associated with limited student engagement and teacher-centered instructional practices. Positioned within a quantitative framework, this study employs a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design to analyze changes in students’ performance before and after the intervention. The participants consisted of 15 fifth-grade students at SDN 20 Tanjung Keramat, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a science literacy test adapted from PISA indicators and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results indicate a consistent increase in students’ scores, with all participants demonstrating improvement and no decline observed. Statistical analysis reveals a significant difference between pretest and posttest results, suggesting that the flipped classroom model is associated with enhanced science literacy. These findings highlight the potential of structured active learning environments in supporting deeper conceptual understanding. However, the use of a pre-experimental design and a small sample size limits the generalizability of the results. Future research is recommended to employ more rigorous designs and broader samples. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran flipped classroom pada konteks sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya literasi sains siswa yang sering dikaitkan dengan rendahnya keterlibatan belajar serta dominasi pembelajaran berpusat pada guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest untuk mengidentifikasi perubahan kemampuan siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 15 siswa kelas V di SDN 20 Tanjung Keramat yang dipilih menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes literasi sains yang disusun berdasarkan indikator PISA dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif serta uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor pada seluruh siswa tanpa adanya penurunan nilai. Analisis statistik juga menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest, yang mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan flipped classroom berkaitan dengan peningkatan literasi sains siswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pembelajaran aktif yang terstruktur dalam mendukung pemahaman konsep secara lebih mendalam. Namun demikian, penggunaan desain pre-experimental dan ukuran sampel yang terbatas menjadi keterbatasan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan menggunakan desain yang lebih kuat dan cakupan sampel yang lebih luas.
