Abstract

The Seren Taun tradition in Citorek Village, Lebak Regency, Banten, is a ritual of gratitude for the rice harvest which is carried out every year. In the context of Indonesian agriculture, this tradition reflects the close relationship between society and nature as well as the values of togetherness and religiosity. This study aims to explore the implementation and meaning of the Seren Taun tradition, as well as the social and cultural values contained therein. With a qualitative approach through interviews and observations, this study explores how the Citorek community inherits this tradition and relates it to Islamic teachings. The results of the study show that Seren Taun is not only a ritual, but also a means of spiritual communication and strengthening the cultural identity of the community. This tradition is expected to continue to be preserved as a valuable cultural heritage in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance Standards (SPMI) in pesantren to identify its impact on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The research design used a mixed-method sequential explanatory approach. The quantitative phase involved 457 respondents and was analyzed using SmartPLS to examine the influence of SPMI on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The qualitative phase was conducted through in-depth interviews with kiai (Islamic scholars), teachers, and alums to interpret the quantitative results and explore the value-based quality practices of pesantren. The quantitative results showed that SPMI had a more substantial influence on graduate quality (β = 0.72; R² = 0.52), while the most dominant influence on community satisfaction was found in pesantren (β = 0.70; R² = 0.51). Qualitative findings confirmed these results by identifying integrative curriculum practices, spiritual-moral guidance (ta'dib), life skills development, and the social contributions of pesantren. These findings confirm that SPMI in pesantren is not merely an administrative instrument but a systemic strategy that integrates academic, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. This study provides new insights into variations in SPMI implementation in pesantren and offers a quality assurance model that is contextual and aligned with Islamic scientific traditions.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in madrasahs (Islamic schools) remains a concern, as these institutions strive to balance the development of spiritual values and professional proficiency with supportive learning environments. This study addresses ongoing debates about the quantifiable effects of faith-based pedagogy by examining how spiritual education, teacher professionalism, and school atmosphere influence educational quality. A quantitative design was employed involving 312 purposively selected madrasah teachers, and data were analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The findings show that while the impact of spiritual education (β = 0.008) is statistically insignificant, the school environment (β = 0.568) and teacher professionalism (β = 0.318) considerably improve educational quality. These results highlight the importance of promoting professional competence and a supportive institutional environment to enhance madrasah performance. Meanwhile, the limited impact of spiritual education suggests the need for a more pedagogically grounded, evidence-based integration of spiritual values into instructional practices.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic development of excellent and competitive human resources (HR) in Indonesia’s education sector. The paper integrates the Human Capital Theory and Islamic Educational Values to formulate a holistic conceptual model for improving teacher competence, professionalism, and institutional competitiveness. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes scholarly research and policy documents published between 2018 and 2025. The findings indicate that superior human resources in education must embody three integrated dimensions: intellectual competence, professional capability, and spiritual integrity. Strategic approaches include professional training, innovation-based leadership, digital transformation, and moral-spiritual education. A conceptual framework is presented to show how Human Capital Development, Islamic Educational Values, and Educational Competitiveness intersect to produce excellent educational human resources that can sustain global competitiveness while maintaining ethical integrity.

Abstract

Human resource management (HRM) is a crucial component in strengthening the quality and sustainability of Islamic educational institutions, including Boarding schools. As educational demands increasingly require professionalism, digital competence, and organizational effectiveness, Boarding schools must manage their human resources through systematic planning and recruitment. This study explores HR planning and recruitment at Boarding School Al-Musyarrofah, Cianjur, focusing on how workforce needs are identified, how future HR demands are forecasted, and how recruitment strategies align with institutional goals and Islamic educational values. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation to analyze HR practices and challenges within the Boarding School context. The study is guided by several research questions: how the Boarding School conducts HR planning, how it forecasts future workforce requirements, what recruitment strategies are employed, how Islamic values influence HR processes, and what obstacles arise in implementation. The theoretical framework integrates modern HRM theories such as workforce planning, competency-based recruitment, and structured selection processes with principles of Islamic education emphasizing amanah, adab, khidmah, and educator integrity. This hybrid framework positions HRM not only as a managerial function but also as a moral responsibility. The study contributes by offering an empirical model of HR planning and recruitment suited to Boarding schools, demonstrating how modern HRM principles can be harmonized with Islamic educational philosophy to produce effective, ethical, and culturally grounded HR practices.

Abstract

Globally, learning achievement in higher education is increasingly understood as the product of both academic and non-academic factors, especially within faith-based institutions where pedagogical practices intersect with religious values. This study examines how students’ perceptions of assessment systems, istiqomah (consistency) attitudes, and classroom management shape learning achievement in Islamic higher education contexts. The research aims to identify which factors most strongly predict academic performance and how Islamic character formation interacts with instructional processes. Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 190 students enrolled in the Evaluation of Learning course at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Indonesia, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia. Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis was applied to test the structural model. The results show that students’ positive perceptions of fair and transparent assessment practices and effective classroom management significantly enhance learning achievement. However, istiqomah attitudes do not directly influence academic outcomes, indicating that spiritual consistency requires pedagogical mediation to translate into academic engagement. The study concludes that improving learning quality in Islamic higher education depends on integrating equitable assessment and supportive classroom climates. Implications include strengthening instructional management and aligning assessment practices with Islamic educational values to foster more holistic student development.
