Abstract

Regional economic growth is highly dependent on the capacity of local governments to manage their own revenues, particularly through the optimization of local taxes and levies. However, in West Nusa Tenggara Province, the level of regional independence still faces challenges due to the dominant role of transfer funds from the central government in the regional revenue structure. This study aims to analyze the effect of local taxes and levies on economic growth with regional independence as an intervening variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative method and utilizes secondary data sourced from government financial reports. There are 70 observations in this study obtained from panel data of districts/cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province during the research period. Data analysis was performed using path analysis with the help of EViews software, and the regression model used was the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). Hypothesis testing included t-tests, F-tests, adjusted R-squared, and Sobel tests to examine the mediating role. The results showed that local taxes had a significant effect on regional autonomy and economic growth. Local levies did not have a significant effect on regional autonomy but had a significant effect on economic growth. Regional autonomy did not have a significant effect on economic growth. Based on the Sobel test, the results show that regional autonomy is unable to mediate the influence of regional taxes and levies on economic growth. This finding indicates that regional economic growth is still more influenced by factors other than regional fiscal autonomy.

Abstract

Tanjung Bias Beach, located in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, represents a promising coastal tourism destination characterized by its natural allure, including stunning sunset vistas, expansive shorelines, and the seamless integration of local microenterprises such as food stalls, cafes, entertainment services (e.g., horse rentals and photography), and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) specializing in souvenirs. This study aims to examine the developmental potential of tourism in the area, its implications for community welfare, and synergistic initiatives among stakeholders to ensure long-term sustainability. The findings reveal that tourism at Tanjung Bias has significantly boosted local incomes and employment opportunities, facilitated by active community involvement through the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) of Senteluk Village in managing facilities (e.g., restrooms, parking, and photo spots) and collecting a 10% levy. Development efforts encompass digital promotion campaigns led by provincial and regency governments, training programs on social media content creation, and private-sector collaborations (e.g., Pelindo Peduli) focused on infrastructure enhancements and financial literacy initiatives commencing in 2024. Nevertheless, key challenges persist, including deteriorated road infrastructure, limited promotional outreach, initial community resistance, human resource constraints (particularly in foreign language proficiency and service delivery), and environmental repercussions such as heightened waste accumulation. While positive economic outcomes—such as augmented regional fiscal revenues and the emergence of tourism-related professions—are evident, these are counterbalanced by social risks (e.g., cultural shifts) and environmental hazards (e.g., coastal degradation).

Abstract

This research aims to explore local wisdom through creative economic literacy in the small banana chip industry in East Luwu Regency. The type of research used is qualitative with the source of informants being 5 people each from small businesses who have different marketing methods in terms of product sales in East Luwu Regency. The data collection technique was carried out in two aspects, namely primary and secondary. The data collected is then processed and analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods, to provide an overview, explanation, understanding and conclusions. The results of the research show that banana chips business actors in East Luwu Regency already understand creative economic literacy with the knowledge they have, they can act or behave in accordance with the knowledge they have gained from the learning process and from training. They run their business with the knowledge they get from the process of selecting raw materials to how they market their products. Potentially, the creative economy industry can be used as an alternative to restore the economic conditions of society which are starting to decline.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR), inflation, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on poverty rates in West Nusa Tenggara Province in both the long and short term. This study employs an explanatory quantitative approach using annual secondary data from 2000 to 2025 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Nusa Tenggara Province. The analysis method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM) to examine the long-run equilibrium relationship and short-run adjustment dynamics among the variables. The results of the study indicate that in the long run, GRDP has a negative and significant effect on poverty, while the unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect; the HDI, however, has no significant effect. Inflation also has no significant effect on poverty. In the short run, none of the variables (GRDP, unemployment rate, inflation, and HDI) have a significant effect on poverty. Simultaneously, the independent variables have a significant effect on poverty in the long run, but not in the short run. Additionally, the Error Correction Term (ECT) results show a negative but insignificant value, indicating that the adjustment process toward long-run equilibrium has not yet proceeded optimally in the short run. These findings suggest that poverty dynamics in West Nusa Tenggara Province are more influenced by long-term structural factors than by short-term fluctuations. Therefore, poverty alleviation policies should focus on promoting inclusive economic growth, job creation, price stability, and the sustainable improvement of human development quality.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of the hotel industry agglomeration on the socioeconomic structure of communities in North Lombok Regency, focusing on Sigar Penjalin Village and Gili Indah Village. Using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by simple quantitative data, this study involved 47 respondents selected through purposive and quota sampling. The results indicate a massive structural shift in livelihoods, with 55.32% of respondents now working in the hospitality sector—a sharp increase from the initial situation, which was dominated by the primary and informal sectors. Economically, average household income has increased significantly, by 190% in parts of Sigar Penjalin Village and 121.4% in Gili Indah Village, although the distribution of benefits is uneven among individuals. From a social perspective, 85.11% of respondents reported an increase in their ability to finance their families’ education; however, there were pressures in the form of rising land prices, changes in lifestyle, and reduced access to the beach. In the fiscal dimension, the contribution of hotel taxes to the Regional Revenue (PAD) of North Lombok Regency has increased consistently from 21.50% (2019) to 32.62% (2025). This study concludes that the agglomeration of the hotel industry drives tangible yet uneven socioeconomic transformation, necessitating inclusive policies such as vocational training, strengthened spatial planning regulations, and accelerated development of educational infrastructure in tourist areas. Keywords: Agglomeration, Hotel Industry, Socio-economic Structure, North Lombok
