Abstract

Public relations has evolved into a strategic imperative for educational institutions in managing reputation and stakeholder trust. However, research on public relations strategies in elementary schools, particularly in resource-constrained contexts, remains limited. This qualitative descriptive study examined public relations strategies at UPT SD Negeri 229 Gresik, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with school principals, public relations coordinators, teachers, and parent representatives, complemented by participant observation and documentary analysis. The Miles and Huberman interactive model guided data analysis, with trustworthiness ensured through triangulation and member checking. Findings revealed five interconnected strategies: operational strategy emphasizing community-based familial approaches; persuasive-educational strategy employing multi-channel digital platforms achieving 78% Instagram engagement; social responsibility strategy demonstrating tangible community impact through 200+ trees planted and 150+ families assisted; collaborative strategy ensuring meaningful stakeholder participation; and coordinative-interactive strategy positioning the school within broader educational networks. These strategies collectively build positive school image by integrating cultural responsiveness with contemporary digital communication, extending public relations theory to elementary education contexts while providing actionable models for administrators navigating transparency and accountability demands in increasingly connected environments.

Abstract

Academic supervision by school principals constitutes a critical mechanism for enhancing teacher professionalism and instructional quality, yet implementation challenges persist globally. This qualitative study employed systematic literature review integrated with field observations at two purposively selected elementary schools in Gresik Regency, Indonesia—UPT SD Negeri 15 and UPT SD Negeri 23—both led by principals with "Guru Penggerak" backgrounds. Data were analyzed using SWOT framework to identify internal and external factors influencing supervision effectiveness. Findings revealed significant improvements in reflection and instructional improvement (8.22-9.09 points) and innovative implementation practices (9.21-9.38 points) at both schools, attributed to structured supervision, active learning communities, and qualified teaching staff. However, teaching methods scores remained suboptimal (59-63 out of 100) with modest increases (1.26-2.00 points), indicating persistent methodological challenges. SWOT analysis identified principal competencies and learning communities as key strengths, time constraints and limited methodological diversity as weaknesses, educational policy support and technological advancement as opportunities, and workload pressures and policy changes as threats. Strategic recommendations include enhancing data-driven supervision mechanisms, strengthening learning communities, providing administrative support systems, and contextually adapting supervision to schools' distinctive excellence programs for optimal teacher professionalism and sustainable instructional quality improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and evaluate entrepreneurial management—covering Planning, Organizing, Implementing, and Supervising (POAC)—in realizing entrepreneurship education at SMKN 1 Buduran Sidoarjo. The research problem focuses on how the school’s Teaching Factory, particularly the Titik Satu Kopi school café, manages its entrepreneurial program to develop students’ entrepreneurial character amid the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 5.0 and the high unemployment rate among vocational graduates. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal for curriculum, café manager, and supervising teachers; direct observation of café operations and student practice activities; and document analysis related to school entrepreneurship programs. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model—data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate three main results: (1) entrepreneurial management at SMKN 1 Buduran is effectively implemented through structured POAC stages, supported by BLUD regulations that provide financial and managerial flexibility; (2) the Teaching Factory café strengthens students’ entrepreneurial character, particularly proactivity, innovation, responsibility, and risk-taking skills through real business practice; and (3) the café functions not only as a business unit but also as a practical learning laboratory that aligns school programs with industry standards. Theoretically, the study provides a model integrating managerial functions with practical entrepreneurship learning in vocational education. Practically, the findings offer recommendations for strengthening Teaching Factory management and serve as a reference for other vocational schools seeking to implement entrepreneurship-based learning.

Abstract

Organizational behavior and public relations (PR) play important roles in improving the performance and image of educational institutions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between organizational and human behavior in supporting the effectiveness of school marketing. The literature study method used a qualitative approach, and relevant data was obtained from various literature, such as books, journals, and scientific articles that discuss related topics. The study results indicate that organizational behavior characterized by effective collaboration, open communication, and transparent culture can improve human resource performance, which in turn helps build a positive image of educational institutions. In addition, the role of transformational leadership in creating an innovative and inspiring work environment has been shown to impact the effectiveness of marketing strategies significantly. This study also identifies the importance of using social media as one of the main tools in school marketing strategies. Through structured public relations management, social media promotes and builds strong relationships between schools, the community, and the external public. This strategy effectively attracts prospective students while strengthening educational institutions' reputation in the public's eyes. Thus, adaptive organizational behavior and innovative public relations communication strategies make a major contribution to supporting the achievement of school marketing goals. In conclusion, the synergy between good organizational behavior and the role of effective public relations can create competitive advantages for educational institutions amidst increasingly tight competition in the education sector.

Abstract

Character education, as an integral part of national education, faces serious challenges due to the impact of rapid digital technological advancement, which has led to a decline in students' character index, particularly in the aspects of independence and integrity. Religious culture in schools has emerged as a strategic approach to strengthen students’ spiritual and moral values. However, its implementation is still constrained by partial technical approaches and limited participation from the school environment and the wider community. This study aims to identify strategies employed by school principals in strengthening character education through religious culture at SMP Negeri 2 Sukodono, Sidoarjo. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary studies. The findings reveal six key strategies: (a) integration of religious values into the curriculum, (b) modeling and exploration of values, (c) habitual religious practices, (d) collaboration with school committees and parents, (e) infrastructure adjustments, and (f) continuous evaluation. These findings support Dewey’s theory of habit formation and successfully address challenges such as student diversity and low parental involvement through inclusive approaches. Overall, the implementation of religious culture not only enhances students’ character but also fosters a harmonious school climate, contributing both theoretically and practically to the development of value-based leadership models and character education policies.

Abstract

This study evaluated Dapodik integration effectiveness in the New Student Admission System (SPMB) at state junior high schools in Bojonegoro Regency, Indonesia, focusing on verification speed enhancement and data accuracy improvement. Employing a goal-oriented evaluation approach, the research utilized quantitative descriptive methods with 60 purposively sampled respondents comprising Dapodik operators, school SPMB committees, and district education office administrators. Data were collected through four-point Likert scale questionnaires (43 items across seven indicators), documentation checklists, and official SPMB records. Instrument validity was established through expert judgment (Aiken's V > 0.80) and construct validity testing (Pearson correlation), while reliability was confirmed via Cronbach's Alpha (> 0.70). Descriptive statistics and gap analysis were employed to assess objective achievement. Results demonstrated that verification speed achieved 85.94% goal realization (mean = 3.44, gap = +0.18), while data accuracy attained 82.96% (mean = 3.32, gap = +0.06), both exceeding achievement thresholds. The integration successfully reduced processing time, maintained schedule accuracy, and enhanced NISN verification and domicile compliance. However, persistent technical barriers (system downtime) and data-document mismatches indicated areas requiring improvement. The findings confirm that Dapodik-SPMB integration substantially achieves policy objectives while revealing that structural integration (efficiency) outperforms semantic integration (quality), underscoring the necessity of combining technological infrastructure with data governance protocols and operator capacity development for sustainable administrative excellence in educational systems.

Abstract

Digitalization has driven a fundamental transformation in education, particularly in teaching and learning methods within formal educational institutions. This study aims to analyze the impact of digitalization on the shifting educational paradigm, focusing on learning methods, the changing role of teachers, and the challenges and adaptation strategies faced by educational institutions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis in several educational institutions in Indonesia. The findings indicate that digitalization has shifted learning methods from traditional lecture-based approaches to technology-driven, interactive, student-centered learning. Furthermore, teachers have transitioned to facilitators of active learning, and the use of multimedia technologies has enriched students' learning experiences. However, challenges such as unequal access to technology and low digital literacy remain significant barriers. This study concludes that the success of digital transformation in education depends on infrastructure readiness, teachers' digital competence, and supportive educational policies. With appropriate adaptation strategies, digitalization holds great potential to create a more inclusive, adaptive, and future-relevant educational ecosystem
