Abstract

Nomophobia, the fear of being without a smartphone, is increasingly prevalent among university students and may be influenced by psychological factors such as spiritual intelligence and self-control. Several studies have demonstrated that these psychological factors play a significant role in nomophobic tendencies among college students. This quantitative study employs multiple regression analysis to examine the influence of spiritual intelligence and self-control on nomophobia in a sample of 99 Islamic Education students at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using validated instruments the NoMoPhobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q), the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory, and a self-control self-report scale. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression using SPSS version 26. Descriptive analysis revealed that 67.68% of students exhibited high spiritual intelligence, 67.67% demonstrated moderate self-control, and 92.92% experienced high levels of nomophobia. Multiple regression analysis revealed that spiritual intelligence had a significant positive effect on nomophobia (β=0.277, p=0.004), whereas self-control had a significant negative effect (β=-1.015, p<0.001). The model explained 67% of the variance in nomophobia (R²=0.670, Adjusted R²=0.663), indicating a strong influence. However, the R² value of 0.276 mentioned elsewhere suggests moderate explanatory power, which may require clarification. Both spiritual intelligence and self-control significantly affected nomophobia among university students. These findings underscore the importance of developing spiritual intelligence and self-control to reduce nomophobia levels in this population.

Abstract

The problem of conventional plastic waste, which if difficult to decompose process a serious threat to the environment. As a solution, this study aims to produce biodegradable plastic made from cassava starch (Manihot esculenta) and eggshell powder, with glycerol as a plasticizer.  The addition of eggshell powder is intended to improve the mechanical properties of the plastic. Samples were prepared using varying amounts of glycerol (2; 2.5; 3.5; 3; 3.5; 4 mL) and eggshell powder (0.3; 0.6; 0.9; 1.2; 1.5 grams). The plastic was tested for biodegradability, tensile strength, functional group analysis (FT-IR), and surface morphology (SEM). The result showed that the sample with 0.3 grams of eggshell powder and 4 mL of glycerol had the highest biodegradation rate (98.94% within two days). The highest tensile strength (22.99 MPa) was achieved with 1.5 grams of eggshell powder and 4 mL of glycerol. FT-IR analysis identified the presence of carbonate, hydroxyl, carbonyl, and ester groups, while SEM observations revealed a surface morphology that was not fully homogeneous due to uneven particle dispersion. Overall, the resulting plastic meets the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 7818:2016, particularly in terms of biodegradability.

Abstract

Footspray is a practical alternative for maintaining foot hygiene and preventing odor caused by microbial activity in moist conditions. This study aimed to develop a natural footspray using cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmanii) and lemon peel (Citrus limon) extracts. Extraction was carried out by maceration with 96% ethanol, using particle sizes of 40/60, 60/80, and 80/100 mesh, and soaking times of 2-6 days. Extracts were evaluated for yield, solvent residue, flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity, then formulated into footspray with concentrations of 10-30%. The highest yield was obtained on the 5th day, with solvent residue 1%. Antioxidant activity was very strong, with IC50 values of 3.83 ppm for cinnamon and 7.14 ppm for lemon peel. Among the formulations, a 20% extract provided the best physical properties (pH, specific gravity, viscosity), strongest antibacterial effect, and highest panelist preference in organoleptic testing. These findings demonstrate that cinnamon bark and lemon peel extract are promising natural active ingredients for footspray, with 20% concentration offering optimal functional and sensory performance. This study supports the potential of natural bioactive compounds for safe, effective, and consumer-preferred foot care products.

Abstract

This article aims to narrate the community service process carried out by a team of lecturers from the Communication Studies Program at Pamulang University in Kedaung Village, Pamulang District, South Tangerang City, Banten. The community service in this article raises the theme of digital literacy counseling, especially for women's groups. The unstoppable development of information and communication technology has brought complex changes to every sector of life. Without gender dichotomy, men and women have equal opportunities to participate and even become the main actors in the use of information technology. They easily access and obtain information from anywhere without exception. However, unfortunately, the flood of information they receive is not accompanied by digital ethics. As a result, some of them, especially women, become serious targets for the spread of news or consumption of misleading information. To address this, digital literacy counseling for them is essential. This community service method uses a counseling model or lectures for local PKK mothers. The results of the community service show that they realize that the culture of origin for the information they receive has become the root of the rampant female victims of false news. They also realized the importance of ensuring the accuracy of the information they received so that in the future, women's groups would become a safe group in digital media.

Abstract

Algebraic thinking skills play an important role in mastering mathematical concepts and problem-solving; however, Linear Algebra learning still faces difficulties, particularly in understanding proofs. Therefore, a proof-based Guided Inquiry strategy is needed to help students develop deeper algebraic thinking skills. This study aims to describe the implementation of the proof-based Guided Inquiry strategy, analyze the improvement and achievement of students’ algebraic thinking skills between classes using this strategy and those using conventional learning, and describe students’ responses to Linear Algebra learning through this approach. The research employed a mixed-method approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group. The subjects were two classes of mathematics education students, each acting as an experimental and control class. The instruments consisted of pre- and post-tests of algebraic thinking skills, implementation observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using N-Gain and mean difference tests, while qualitative data were obtained from observations and student responses. The results showed that the implementation of learning achieved an average score of 92% (very good category). N-Gain analysis revealed that the experimental class achieved a moderate improvement (0.401), higher than the control class (0.246, low category). Moreover, student responses were positive, with an average percentage of 84.8%. These findings indicate that integrating inquiry exploration with mathematical proof effectively enhances students’ algebraic thinking skills and the quality of Linear Algebra learning.
