Abstract

Balikpapan Islamic College is a private Islamic Religious College (PTKI) in Balikpapan, a buffer zone for the IKN (Indonesian Capital City). As an Islamic educational institution, this campus plays a central role in the development of Islam in East Kalimantan through the Tridharma of Higher Education. However, its contribution to the development of publications and scientific works remains largely untouched, including the lack of journal publication facilities that facilitate the need for scientific publications for the community. One contributing factor is limited human resources, therefore assistance is needed in managing scientific publications through the development of the OJS journal. This activity uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, through stakeholder involvement from the planning stage to journal management. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively to assess the effectiveness of the program. The results of the community service show that mentoring activities can improve the understanding and skills of independent journal managers. The obstacle faced is limited technical support.

Abstract

The use of networks in conjunction with thin client systems has become an alternative solution for increasing the efficiency of information technology infrastructure in office environments. Several previous studies have examined the benefits of using thin clients, including cost efficiency, data security, and reduced system administration burden. For example, using thin clients can reduce bandwidth consumption compared to using conventional PCs on a local office network. Another study also stated that thin client systems can extend hardware lifespan and significantly reduce total cost of ownership. These studies emphasize the significant potential of using thin clients in creating more efficient and manageable networks. This study aims to test the effectiveness and efficiency of using a thin client-based shared network in a medium-sized office. The methods used were quantitative studies and field experiments, observing network load (bandwidth usage), server performance, and application response times between conventional PC and thin client. The results showed a 78,35% reduction in network load. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the use of networks combined with a thin client approach not only reduces network load technically but also has a long-term impact on organizational efficiency, device sustainability, and adaptability to more resource-friendly technological developments.

Abstract

The phenomenon of global technological advancements has brought significant changes to the business sector. It is undeniable that significant changes have occurred in Indonesia, including in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. Although most MSMEs are adept at using mobile phones, many still haven't fully utilized digital technology. This is evident in the fact that many businesses still haven't used digital payments (QRIS) and financial record-keeping systems like SIAPIK. This activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of business owners (MSMEs) in using Qris as a payment transaction method and digital financial recording using the Siapik application. This activity was held for 10 days, starting from August 4 to August 14, 2025, involving 15 MSME business actors in Dukuh Dempok village. This activity used an observation method with direct interviews with business actors in the market and roadside areas in Dukuh Dempok village, Ambulu sub-district, Jember Regency from August 4-10, 2025, training and socialization were carried out at the Gumuk Watu educational tour on August 11, and after the training and socialization until August 14, an evaluation was conducted to see how business actors used the 2 digital-based technologies. The results turned out to be satisfactory considering that participants or MSME business actors succeeded in using Qris and Siapik. Data shows a 90% adoption rate. However, challenges such as the continued predominance of cash usage among customers and the lack of consistency among business owners in using digital financial accounting applications need to be addressed through continued mentoring. Face-to-face approaches with hands-on practice have proven effective in encouraging MSMEs to adopt these applications

Abstract

Bawang putih (Allium sativum L.) cv. Doulu merupakan bawang putih lokal yang berasal dari Desa Doulu Kabupaten Simalungun, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Secara konvensional, A. sativum cv. Doulu diperbanyak melalui umbi sehingga kurang efektif karena rentan hama dan penyakit. Alternatif perbanyakan bibit A. sativum cv.

Abstract

The increased consumption of oyster mushrooms in Indonesia faces challenges due to their short shelf life, which makes it difficult to sell them in fresh form. One of the solutions is to process them into oyster mushroom chips, which offer a longer shelf life and appeal as a snack product. This study aimed to evaluate oyster mushroom chips' physicochemical and sensory qualities and calculate their production costs. The research was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, oyster mushroom chips were produced by applying a pretreatment to the fresh oyster mushrooms (blanching and rinsing), and coating them using different flours (wheat flour and a mixture of wheat and rice flour). The resulting oyster mushroom chips were analyzed for their sensory quality. In the second stage, the chips were produced using the best treat-ment identified in the first stage, followed by frying at different temperatures (150 °C or 155 °C). The resulting chips were analyzed for physicochemical and sensory quality, and their production cost was calcu-lated. The results of the first stage showed that the combination of rinsing and wheat flour coating produced chips that were significantly preferred by the panelists for taste, aroma, and texture attributes. The second stage showed that there were no significant sensory quality differences between chips fried at 150 °C or 155 °C. However, the frying temperature caused significant differences in the fat, protein, carbohydrate, crude fiber content, and total energy of the chips. The production cost of the oyster mushroom chips was Rp 31,748 per 250 g package.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of production planning, inventory management, and demand forecast accuracy on operational performance, with sustainability-oriented Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) as a moderating variable, among retail SMEs in Jakarta. Utilizing a mixed methods approach, the research integrates quantitative analysis through Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that all three operational factors significantly enhance operational performance, supporting theories of aggregate and stochastic production planning, dynamic inventory policies, and real-time demand sensing. Furthermore, GSCM was found to strengthen these relationships, especially when environmental practices were embedded in procurement, logistics, and supplier collaboration. However, the moderating effect varied depending on the firms' readiness and resource capacity to adopt sustainable practices. This research contributes to the existing literature by offering an integrated model tailored for SMEs in developing economies and addressing the limited empirical evidence from Indonesia. It also provides practical guidance for SME practitioners aiming to improve efficiency while aligning with sustainability goals. The study highlights the strategic importance of integrating operational excellence with green supply chain initiatives to build resilience, reduce waste, and enhance long-term competitiveness in dynamic market environments.

Abstract

In early 2023, there was an outbreak of lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle in Indonesia, with particularly high prevalence in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Since then, cases of this disease have been increasing, causing significant economic losses to cattle and buffalo farmers. This study aimed to investigate the pathological changes caused by LSD virus infection in various organs of Sleman cattle. We investigated 15 animals from 10 farms. Skin samples were taken by biopsy. ELISA testing was performed on serum samples. We also performed necropsies on two LSD infected cow carcasses to observe the macroscopic and microscopic effects of the virus. During the necropsies, samples were obtained from skin nodules, skeletal muscle, and internal organs (lung, liver, kidney, lymphatic nodes, spleen, and digestive organs). These were subjected to histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Among the live animals, fever, lethargy, hypersalivation, and lacrimation were the most common clinical signs. Our qualitative descriptive analysis of the pathological changes, clinical signs, and ELISA results showed that LSD infection in cattle causes mild to severe damage to various organs. Our macroscopic examinations found that affected animals had skin nodules of varying sizes over the entire body. We observed mild to severe inflammation and hemorrhage in the internal organs, including the skeletal muscles, spleen, liver, heart, rumen, reticulum, abomasum, and small intestine. Based on this investigation, we conclude that, in addition to its effects on the skin, LSD causes pathological changes in various internal organs.
